Wanted to make this a separate thread to make it obvious.

I didn't know this until I saw it mentioned it somewhere else today. Fox are showing the walking dead at 2.30 am!

I won't manage to watch it - I'm 7 months pregnant and my 3 year old isn't sleeping well but if you were able, it would be cool.

I listened to a podcast of the JDM panel at Walker Stalker and he was saying that they film two versions of all his scenes - one littered with swearing for the blu ray and one without for tv. He said as he's very dyslexic, learning pages of script for Negan's monologues is tough! I can't get over that the network will happily broadcast him bashing in heads with a baseball bat in gory detail but can't allow the word 'fuck'. It's bizarre.

yumyumpoppycat · 12/11/2016 22:49

Very weird about language Confused

I thought the baseball bat scene was awful, but also that Negan would have done more damage given that rick and his people had killed so many of his gang (I know he has his formula of battering one person as an example but still). Agree that the actual stories of terminus and Lizzie were worse overall. Plus the show writers did give us alexandria all pulling together and defeating walkers for a spirit lifter before throwing us into Negan story. My least favourite story arc was when everyone got sick in the jail, I felt it went on a bit too long.

MargotLovedTom · 13/11/2016 00:36

I felt it went on too long at the farm, with endless scenes on the porch of Hershel's Homilies about God and humanity.

I know the group have been fragmented in the past, and yes, of course it's always been violent, but the brutal execution of Abraham and Glenn in front of their 'family' was awful to watch. Agree with Desolate that it's becoming more and more about the cunty men, which fair enough would probably happen in reality, but a lot of the appeal of the show was that the walkers made it thrilling and scary in an escapist way.

I didn't find the Terminus or Governor eras to be as bleak as this.

CaptainBrickbeard · 13/11/2016 06:35

I think it's always been about cunty men and how the real monster is man etc. Season 1 was all about the zombie horror and there has been plenty more of that along the way but they have encountered a series of cunty men (and Dawn) who have killed some of the group for their own cunty reasons.

Twiterati · 13/11/2016 09:52

I too am struggling with season 7 partly I think because I binge watched the other six series and am not used to having to wait to find out what happens next but having said, that this series now feels so much darker which I think is the aim. I said previously this is now a series/study about how humans will eventually behave towards each other after an apocalyptic event. The zombies are now almost an aside as unless they get surrounded by masses they are fairly easily dealt with. But come on Rick et al, we need to see you back on top and soon!

DesolateWaist · 13/11/2016 10:59

I think that the problem I have is that this feels like it now. In the start there was some chance of them finding a way out, somewhere that would be safe forever.
Now it feels like it's just going to be going from settlement to settlement, which seem be ok at the start and then turn out to be run by a cunty man, until they all die. They don't seem to be going towards anything. It all seems futile.

yumyumpoppycat · 13/11/2016 15:31

Yes I agree Desolate I also have been thinking there needs to be something more, a sign of hope for a cure from France ( series 2 mentioned they went down last?) or something bigger; but then that really will be it and the show will be finished and I'm not quite ready for that yet! At the moment it's like a video game with end of level bosses. Maybe they will come across a city run by non cuntish women where research is still happening.

HatePaperDoll · 13/11/2016 15:35

Yes, lots of cunty men but it's the classic good versus evil tale, is it not?

Rick and Ezekiel represent the good, proving that you don't have to be a cunt to everyone to lead a successful community. Negan and the Governor being the evil cunts. Which will triumph in the end?

HatePaperDoll · 13/11/2016 15:56

And I don't understand AMC's problem with swearing but without their batshis policy, we wouldn't have been introduced to 'Mother Dick' so it hasn't been all bad Grin

CaptainBrickbeard · 13/11/2016 16:48

Mother Dick makes it all worthwhile! I wouldn't say Rick represents 'good', though. He's done some dark and indefensible things. Their attack on Negan's compound was bad! It's more about degrees of cuntiness Grin.

HatePaperDoll · 13/11/2016 18:47

Yes, you're right. Rick's group isn't good but they do generally try to only kill bad people when it's kill it be killed...although there's definitely been some collateral damage along the way.

Twiterati · 13/11/2016 19:05

It's on tonight at 10pm on Fox!

Bigfam · 13/11/2016 19:19

That's last weeks Twiterati
I got all excited then Grin

Twiterati · 13/11/2016 19:58

Oh yes I just checked....wishful thinking!

MargotLovedTom · 13/11/2016 21:11

DesolateWaist you keekeep saying exactly what I want to say!

Ultimately it's all about individual perception isn't it - there are some of us who are finding it hard going now, it's just personal opinion.

youngestisapsycho · 14/11/2016 21:27

I'm a bit confused at to where all the different places are.... is Negans near to Alexandria? how come they've never come knocking before?

youngestisapsycho · 14/11/2016 21:44

To be honest, I'm not even enjoying it so far this series.... Negan is just the most hideous person and everytime he is on screen I'm screaming at the TV for someone to just fucking shoot him!!!

ArmySal · 14/11/2016 21:57

I can't think of anyone but Lotso from Toy Story when Negan talks.

Rollergirl1 · 14/11/2016 21:59

I agree, I actually just can't watch Negan on screen as I find the character/the actor so immensely annoying. The whole time rocking back on his heels and grinnnng like an imbecile through every single line.

Just fuck off already. I am not liking this series purely because of him!

BeyondReasonablyDoubts · 14/11/2016 22:01

I like Negan Blush
He's still just Sam and Dean's dad to me!

1happyhippie · 14/11/2016 22:07

I'm struggling a bit with this season too.

I have been a huge fan, right from the start and I will always watch it, but it does feel different at the minute.
I never like it when the group splits up, so we have separate episodes for them. Now we have the kingdom, Alexandria, the hilltop and the bloody saviours bit!

Im hoping it picks up a bit soon and I also have no idea how close to each other these places are?

Ledkr · 14/11/2016 22:14

I wonder if carol and Morgan will come to the rescue?

GlennRheeismyfavourite · 14/11/2016 22:15

Rick can't take this for long, surely they've got to come up with a plan!!!! This is the first series I've watched real time - I hate the fact that I can't just keep watching!

Rick being ahead, being broken and then fighting back is a common cycle in it. I'm not too concerned about the downward mood atm Grin
