Anyone watching this yet?

Loving Black Mirror. Really dystopian.

Loved Bryce Dallas Howard in Nosedive. Got the last episode in the new series to watch. Hope it doesn't disappoint Grin

TheSecondOfHerName · 26/10/2016 22:37

Hated in the Nation was like a reunion of Waterloo Road actors.

I loved the Alev Lenz song near the end.

Zone2mum · 27/10/2016 18:04

Trying hard not to binge-watch.. enjoying them at leisurely (but somewhat faster than terrestial TV) pace. Find it somewhat ironic that it's on Netflix where you can totally give into your personal gratification immediately and binge-watch which in the Black Mirror world is part of what's going wrong, I suspect...

AndShesGone · 27/10/2016 18:10

We've just watched them all, thought they were fantastic. Such a gifted writer Charlie Brooker is.

TheSecondOfHerName · 27/10/2016 19:14

I managed to make six episodes last six days.

TheSecondOfHerName · 27/10/2016 19:16

fanoir I think the ending was left deliberately ambiguous.

Girlwiththedragintattoo · 29/10/2016 10:05

Ive only wathced up to episode 4 of the new series i found episode 3 to be much more like the earlier series and its really stuck with me. White bear was one that really stuck with me as well but like someone said i felt kind of sorry for her at the end where as with Kenny i felt lost all sympathy. I think i felt sorry/mixed feelings for Victoria in white bear because she had no memory of her crime.

I really didnt like nose dive, the second one was ok and fourth was good but had dp moaning it was boring most of the way through. Watching another one tonight so see how i find it.

noradurst · 29/10/2016 15:00

Episode 3 was dark af but I think 6 was my favourite. Does anyone know what the plan was at the end - was she going there to arrest him or kill him or was it deliberately ambiguous to keep us thinking about it?

I thought she was going to kill him as she faked her death. If she was going to arrest him, I thought she would've "just" taken a leave of absence or something.

My favourites were 1 (Nosedive) + 6 (Hated in the Nation). Least favourite by faaaar was 5 (Man Beyond Fire), though I did love the final scene.

TheClacksAreDown · 29/10/2016 15:10

I've only watched one of the new series so far which was Nosedive. t the time I found it enjoyable but didn't find it as moving or shocking as some of the previous ones. But in the days since I've found I've come to think about it every time I'm asked to rate or "react" to something and I've realised just how frequent that has become. Charlie Brooke's really is excellent.

TheGruffaloMother · 29/10/2016 16:10

I love the idea behind White Bear but the acting really did annoy me. I've seen and liked the actress in other things but felt this was over acted and too screamy.

I binged watched all 3 series and have found the more recent stuff a bit too similar. Loved the contrast in all episodes of the first series and wish there was more of that kind of variation in the rest.

Really enjoyed the episode with Kenny (Shut up and dance?) but I knew almost from the outset that he'd been looking at images of children. Same with the military episode... I enjoyed it but the twist was made too obvious in the preceding clues.

NE14T · 30/10/2016 08:30

Ditto Gruffalo I knew from the beginning about Kenn, I think they made it too obvious.

I had no idea about the roaches though, even once it had been 'revealed' to the viewers, it took me a while to realise!

I bloody love this show. Really really wish I hadn't binge watched it now Blush am trying so hard to get friends of mine to watch it so I have someone to dissect it with!

Ghoulwiththedeviltattoo · 30/10/2016 11:29

I i guessed the roaches bit as soon as they went to the old mans place. Didnt really like that episode hope the next is better. Also was the song that woman was singing to the old guy from fifteen million merits?

TwentyCups · 30/10/2016 15:19

It was the song from fifteen million merits I think.
The military one was my least favourite I think. As others have said, predictable.

I honestly did not realise Kenny was a pedophile Til the very end reveal - this episode was the most similar in style to the previous series' and also the most British I thought.

The one that has stuck with me the most was San Junipero. I liked that one a lot, the idea excited me rather than depressed me!

TheGruffaloMother · 30/10/2016 16:00

The Fifteen Million Merits song has been featured in a few of the episodes Smile

I have mixed feelings about San Junipero. The acting really was fantastic but the distopia / SciFi / psychological thriller genre kind of went on the back burner for it. It was much more of a romance with a thread of SciFi. Very well done for what it is but not my thing at all.

Ghoulwiththedeviltattoo · 30/10/2016 20:51

I found San Junipero a bit to lovey dovey for my liking even though it was watchable. I have been suffering from anxiety about dying so probably not the best episode for me to watch.

DashboardLightParadise · 30/10/2016 22:53

I loved San Junipero simply for being in a same sex relationship myself it's really refreshing to see. Especially as one is bisexual and not simply gay. Quite unusual, us bis don't see much representation on tv.

Watched the last one and kinda guessed what it was all about very early. Best one definitely for me Shut up and dance, close second San Junipero. Doesn't live up to previous series though. Pig one I watched when it first came out and thought it doesn't show much, psychologically wise excellent. White Bear close second.

Fiderer · 02/11/2016 07:33

I watched too many too soon as well. Discovered my son has his Netflix account on my laptop and stays logged in. First TV show I've discussed with him in years, enjoyed that.

I wanted the official spy guy to get his comeuppance.

Took me ages to realise where I'd seen the ex-Fraud detective before, that she was the Waif in GoT

Flingmoo · 02/11/2016 14:50

In the last episode, did anyone else think "That's DEFINITELY Mumsnet" when a bunch of mums from a 'popular parenting forum' all chipped in and arranged the Fucking Bitch cake to be delivered to the nasty disablist columnist? Grin I can just imagine MNers doing exactly that! She was basically inspired by Katie Hopkins?

(Hope that's not too spoilery as it's not central to the plot or anything)

Flingmoo · 02/11/2016 14:55

Yes Dashboard I thought that was great, especially that they didn't make a big fuss about it being a lesbian relationship, could just as easily have been a straight couple without the plot really changing so it normalises same sex relationships which I think we need a bit more often on TV! Especially when you think it wasn't even that many years ago there was big controversy when Eastenders featured one lesbian kiss.

LurkingHusband · 07/11/2016 15:53

Did no one else wonder why people in "Hated in the Nation" didn't put a bag over their head once they realised the ADIs were using facial recognition ?

They could have done it in the bathroom before the ADIs swarmed in.

Or did I miss something ?

Ulysses · 07/11/2016 17:59

I watched Nosedive today and as much as I thought the concept interesting, I thought it could have been wrapped up in half the time.

Will watch the rest but I'm not too invested in it. For comparison, Humans on channel 4 is doing a terrific job of integrating technology with modern life and having a bit of heart and soul about it too.

Finally finished this the other day.

Hated In The Nation was sooo good.

It took me so long to do deal with the whole series because I waited ages to watch Shut Up And Dance after spotting a spoiler here. Unpleasant.

Husband

Now that you point that out, they totally should have.

Did anyone wonder if they might, in the heat of the moment accidentally get caught up in the Death To Hashtag?

#DeathToTrump etc
