Anyone watching this yet?

OP posts:
CaptainHammer · 22/10/2016 20:52

TheHiphopopotamus I think I should have spread them out more too. DH and I had yesterday and today off work so did 3 yesterday and 3 today, even with breaks in between I don't think I did them justice.

pinkeye · 22/10/2016 21:29

in her defence i really liked bryce, she portrayed the all american, here to please persona really well. also loved her in the Village.

am going to watch the first three again, the third was the most thought provoking, i had no idea....

they are all a little bleak but that's the joy of them. Agree with the poster who said they were a more up to date 'tales of the unexpected' More tv like this please!

2legit2knit · 23/10/2016 00:01

I've watched the first three, loved the first two, 3rd one was dark af. Felt a bit grubby after that one.

TheSecondOfHerName · 23/10/2016 19:54

I can't watch them back-to-back. I need time to process each episode before watching the next.

Just watched Playtest with DS1 (16).
Wow.

DashboardLightParadise · 23/10/2016 19:59

Watched the first three last night. Well started the fourth but by that stage I was well merry on wine and couldn't concentrate. Will get the dc to bed soon so I can watch another.

DashboardLightParadise · 23/10/2016 20:00

I found Darknet on Netflix quite similar to Black Mirror if anyone hasn't seen it.

2legit2knit · 23/10/2016 21:01

San Junipero made me cry lots!

thenightsky · 23/10/2016 21:25

Shut up and Dance was the scariest I think.

Snapespeare · 23/10/2016 21:40

San junipero had me in tears. So sad and happy and sad.

DashboardLightParadise · 23/10/2016 22:24

Ah I've just watched San Junipero and glad to see I'm not the only one who cried through it Grin I actually think it's my favourite one of this series so far, the closing scenes that flicked through the credits gave me goosebumps.

TheSecondOfHerName · 23/10/2016 22:54

I have a question about 'Shut Up and Dance' which I'll try to ask without revealing too many spoilers. Was Kenny's viewing material illegal, or did he actually view something mainstream and then it was edited later with what his opponent had viewed to make it look like he had viewed something illegal?

TwentyCups · 23/10/2016 22:59

Having just watched shut up and dance I took it as Kenny had been watching illegal material and knew it. Makes sense, the locking his door, cross with his sister for taking the laptop. At several times throughout the episode I thought why doesn't he call the police? Masturbation is not illegal, sharing the video would be! At the end of course it all made sense.

What was interesting was how quickly I lost all empathy with the character after the reveal. White bear explored similar themes of social justice and yet I somehow felt really sorry for Victoria, even after knowing her crime. With kenny I really didn't feel sorry for him one bit.

TheSecondOfHerName · 23/10/2016 23:02

Thank you, that does make sense.

DashboardLightParadise · 23/10/2016 23:05

Illegal second, I think that was the twist you go from having sympathy to thinking he deserved it. Also I believe why the two at the end had to do that thing, their crimes were heinous compared to the other misdemeanours.

TheHiphopopotamus · 23/10/2016 23:08

Wonder how much it costs to upload your consciousness to the cloud in San Junipero. What if the money runs out, do you just disappear? Confused

Did they explain any of that?

TwentyCups · 23/10/2016 23:10

The money aspect was never explained, but it did say you could choose to be 'unplugged' so it wasn't an endless forever. I guess if you couldn't afford forever you would be unplugged after a certain amount of time.

DashboardLightParadise · 23/10/2016 23:46

I had wondered about the money too, how much it would cost to upload yourself.

Watched episode 5 man under fire, what a horrible choice to make. Going to leave the last one for tomorrow.

MrsFring · 24/10/2016 15:51

Shut up and Dance has continued to haunt me. I'll never be able to listen to Radiohead's 'Exit Music' without seeing that tortured face; 'Kenny! What did you do!.

TheSecondOfHerName · 24/10/2016 17:09

Once you're uploaded, the maintenance costs would be minimal. The reason they restricted the 'tourists' to a few hours per week was because they became too immersed in it, rather than cost considerations.

GloriousSlug · 24/10/2016 18:42

I tried watching series three but just can't get into it, it feels quite different to the previous series.

Really curious as to what happens with Kenny though, I thought he didn't want the wank vid leaked, sounds as though there was something else he was hiding? (I turned off just after the bit where he takes the cake to the man in the hotel!).

TheSecondOfHerName · 24/10/2016 19:23

Just watched Men Against Fire. It was very good.

TheHiphopopotamus · 24/10/2016 19:50

I got the impression that Kenny had been looking at underage kids. I might have got that wrong though.

TheHiphopopotamus · 24/10/2016 19:54

Yes, but they're a company, like any other I presume and there main aim is to make money. I can't imagine it would be cheap to be honest (I realise this is missing the point of the programme).

MrsFring · 24/10/2016 20:34

Kenny had been looking at child porn images. The opening scene in the cafe when he is so solicitous to the little girl is quite sickening in retrospect. So Kenny would be charged with murder, armed robbery and viewing indecent images of children. Typical evil genius CB horror story.

fanoir · 25/10/2016 12:46

I watched them all over 2 evenings and now I'm cross with myself for watching them all so quickly Confused

Episode 3 was dark af but I think 6 was my favourite. Does anyone know what the plan was at the end - was she going there to arrest him or kill him or was it deliberately ambiguous to keep us thinking about it?
