Now for me, I am a fanatical Baker, I am usually knee deep in meringues but am i the only one who's skin crawls when every time they see that snake, Paul Hollywood on the tv. His recent departure to channel 4 has really shown his true colours.

Behind those dazzling blue eyes and that mahogony tan is a self obsessed saddo who doesn't care one bit about his colleagues (the queen of baking Mary Berry and the absolutely hilarious Mel and Sue).

He's desperate to be the next Simon Cowell and quite frankly its pathetic.

Well done to Channel 4 for hiring one of TVs biggest idiots!!!!

Sorry to the Paul Hollywood fans but I just had to get it off my chest lol!!

Mary probably has got plenty of money of her own, but she's from a background where it's unlikely she would have to have worked if she hadn't wanted to. The point being that she's not the main breadwinner.

How on earth do you know that she is not the main breadwinner? She has worked her entire life, including when her children were tiny babies because there was no legal right to maternity leave, edited major magazines, designed and sold her own range of food and launched and taught in her own cookery school, as well as writing 75 cookery books and presenting several television series and continues to work in her 80's. She has literally never stopped. Her husband worked for a sherry company and then as a book seller? What on earth about this suggests that her husband is the "main breadwinner"?

And her family were hardly nobility......she comes from a baking family and her father was a surveyor!

Seriously, Google is your friend pal....use it before making massive assumptions.

Reports claim that Mary Berry is worth $15M so no she really doesn't have to work any more if she doesn't wish to. She has been a very successful writer of cookery books for a very long time, which is presumably why she was picked to be one of the judges in the first place.

I don't blame him at all for taking the job for more money, seems like a non-brainier to me. He'll earn more from the deal than most of us will ever earn in our lifetimes and even if it all goes tits up he'll have enough money to live off for the rest of his life. If 'career suicide' happens and he still wants to work in TV, the BBC won't want him back of course but some other channel will surely take him. I like to think that him or one of his people are reading this thread and laughing at some of the pearl-clutching comments Go Paul!

Mary is from a very respectable upper middle class background - her father was a surveyor - a respectable profession - who was mayor of Bath & helped set up Bath uni. She doesn't come from a 'baking family' it's just that one of her great great grandfathers was a baker.

I am not disputing that she has worked all her life, I am just pointing out that her husband has also worked. Between them they have plenty of money & a huge house.

Hollywood has been the main breadwinner as his wife devoted her married life to being a SAHM until recently. I don't like him, but I can understand why he followed the money.
