They hardly mentioned Andrew this week!

Cocolepew · 21/09/2016 21:20

Thebiscuit the jacket is from Zara.

Oblomov16 · 21/09/2016 21:49

Knew it would be Val. Was obvious.

NeonPinkNails · 21/09/2016 22:30

Does anyone else think this year is getting a bit close to other reality shows? Candice going on about her Nan was just too X-Factor for me and the lack of time every week in an attempt (I assume) to create drama is annoying.

I also think Candice is gearing up for a media career - all the puns and cooking in high heels and her 'signature' lipstick and the faces she pulls - I'd lay money she's seen the pics that used to go round online of Nadia last year but her face pulling was unintentional and quite sweet.

Clawdy · 21/09/2016 22:55

Yes, could have done without Candice's tearful moment. She is trying too hard. Really glad Rav stayed, he is so sweet.

RebootYourEngine · 22/09/2016 04:49

Glad Val went. She was quite rubbish.

Although i am warming to Candice i thought Jane should have been star baker.

Rrross1ges · 22/09/2016 09:19

It's Candice's tongue that's getting to me. She keeps opening her mouth and waggling it round. It's like a haunted gammon joint.

JinkxMonsoon · 22/09/2016 10:03

Jane needs to stop overfilling things. Those pastries with the chocolate filling splurting all over the place looked awful, even if they tasted good.

raisedbyguineapigs · 22/09/2016 10:47

I'm incredibly late to the party here, but when I went to Bakewell, I bought a tart from the proper Bakewell bakery and it didn't have icing on. I presumed that was the proper way. It was bloody gorgeous, I must say! I sometimes dream about it!

raisedbyguineapigs · 22/09/2016 10:49

I don't mind Candice. I've warmed to her. They did cut away from the proper bawli. If it had been x factor, they would have got Mary to talk about it during g the judging! Maybe they are getting g us used to it for the Channel 4 version Grin

walruswhiskers · 22/09/2016 10:52

I did think it was a bit fishy that candice happened to have a pic of her with her nan about her person just in case there was an opportunity to make bakewell tart. Ye gods - was she (gasp) tipped off?

Grin haunted gammon joint

BuntyFigglesworthSpiffington · 22/09/2016 11:00

It's been a bit of a 'meh' series so far. Selasi stands out as being lovely and helpful to his fellow contestants but no one stands out as being an amazing baker.

MiddleClassProblem · 22/09/2016 11:06

Hollywood has signed for 3 years!

GratedCarrotStick · 22/09/2016 11:07

Im a bit late to the thread but did feel a bit bad for val leaving after just one bad week whilst others have cintinued to come in at the bottom although rav did redeem hinself with his filo. However her attitude was starting to bug me. She might like soggy danish pastries but its not going to win the competition.

SoupDragon · 22/09/2016 11:15

Val has had way more than one bad week! For several weeks she has been saved by someone having a worse week than she did.

GratedCarrotStick · 22/09/2016 11:23

I missed the first week or two so am only going by the last 3 or 4 i didnt think she had done as bad. I felt really sorry fir the guy with the ginger hair (i cant remember most of their names) when his oven wasnt on because his stuff is usually great.

augustusglupe · 22/09/2016 12:13

I make Bakewell tart a few times a year...not every week like Val Hmm and I've never put icing on top, just some flaked almonds. Also, this is the way we did it in school in the Midlands in the 70s. The icing was all a bit Mr Kipling I thought.

MitzyLeFrouf · 22/09/2016 12:14

Yes, the icing ruined it for me, looked really sickly. My mum makes a great icing-less bakewell tart.

Blondeshavemorefun · 22/09/2016 12:41

Not a bake well tart fan as dislike marzipan but some of the filo parties looked yummy

Esp peanut butter and banana and the goats cheese one

VAL always seems clumsy

Andrew /weasly - seriously / didn't check the oven 😱😱😱😱

Still don't like candice pursed lips. When talks looks nice - but otherwise her lips are like a cats bum

scattercushion · 22/09/2016 13:39

So no one commented on the fact that Candice's necklace looked like Paul's hair - I think it was a subconscious attempt to impress him.

GratedCarrotStick · 22/09/2016 13:43

The filo pastries looked delicious made me hungry and there was nothing good to eat in the house Sad

JinkxMonsoon · 22/09/2016 14:42

Has anyone mentioned Tom's granola danishes? GRANOLA? I want a Danish pastry with buttery pastry and some sort of gooey-ness (whether it's chocolate or custard or fruit or something sugary, I don't mind!) but the idea of getting a mouthful of dry oats and seeds... bleargh.

raisedbyguineapigs · 22/09/2016 14:49

What about the Weetabix danishes? Double Bleugh!
