One week to go. Anyone else can't wait?
I've just started to rewatch the first series. Not sure if I'll get to watch it all again before next Sunday though.

I definitely saw it as marking territory. Also his only chance without getting his leg over meaning him taking someone else's wife (between her being in mourning and being married again). Never mind that he is married too!

Destinysdaughter · 25/10/2016 15:59

So has this ruined his chances of being James Bond...?

TinklyLittleLaugh · 25/10/2016 16:58

I don't think AT is a James Bond. Too pretty/quirky.

beguilingeyes · 27/10/2016 22:19

I'm not sure about his acting. Next to Dwight and George W, Ross isn't very convincing to me.

Penvelopesnightie · 27/10/2016 22:42

I think the George character is really well acted and I am almost hoping that George shows a softer streak, especially now Ross has really lost popularity .

TinklyLittleLaugh · 28/10/2016 00:32

Can anyone who has read the books elaborate on why Ross hates George? As far as I can gather it boils down to new money/not knowing his place. So blatant snobbery from Ross then basically.

Inkanta · 28/10/2016 04:06

I was impressed with George's acting (Jack Farthing), particularly when he was proposing to Elizabeth. I hope he turns into a more likeable softer character.

Up to now George's character is all about his driving obsession to stalk and antagonise Ross at any opportunity. Not really understanding where this has come from. He's like a pantomime baddie.

Heratnumber7 · 28/10/2016 14:15

Tinky Ross and George were in school together, and have hated each other ever since those days.
Mostly to do with the fact that George is "new money", and Ross, though poor, has the breeding that George lacks.

MaQueen · 28/10/2016 14:45

At the start of series one, George admits he is envious of Ross's lineage, and that all the other boys at their school admired Ross for being rather a maverick character. Which George also envied.

Ross has always thought George rather nouveau riche, and despised him for it.

But, we shouldn't judge Ross's snobbishness by 21st century standards. Back in the 18th centuary Ross's attitude would have been considered totally normal.

Inkanta · 30/10/2016 19:13

Not sure I can stomach Poldark tonight!

The situation is a mess.

LTB!

beguilingeyes · 30/10/2016 19:23

Tonight should be quite humorous in parts, if the follow the book, but this version has been fairly humourless so far so maybe not.

AtSea1979 · 30/10/2016 21:00

What could Ross possibly do to redeem himself? It was bad enough he has that ridiculous hair, they have totally destroyed him :(

Fedupofallthemud · 30/10/2016 22:06

Is it just me, or was Demelza dressed up as a prostitute at the party?? I couldn't take my eyes off the 'beauty spot' on her top lip Grin

thedogsvagina · 30/10/2016 22:11

I think Demelza went to that party with the intention of having revenge sex but just couldn't go through with it, hence the look.

I enjoyed tonight, and I still love Ross even if he is a bloody fuckwit.

Rosa89 · 30/10/2016 22:14

I cannot make out Ross. I'm not familiar with the books and trying to take consideration of the time but he didn't in any way apologise or make it abundantly clear it was Demelza he wanted. To tell her he still wants Elizabeth sometimes but expect her not to believe shes second best... LTB right there! And why turn up.at Elizabeths at the end? That made no sense to me if you're trying to win back your wife. Aghhh rant over!

9troubledwaters · 30/10/2016 22:32

Ugh I don't think I can watch anymore, I loved the romance & passion demelza had for him & that's gone now. Its just going to frustrate me she can't leave him Sad Of course Elizabeth gets pregnant by the rape.
Not such a loveable rogue now!
Dwight for Bond !!

GruffaloZogTiddler · 30/10/2016 22:33

Yes Demelza definitely went for the prostitute look Grin

Yeah I really wanted them to have it out, for Ross to declare his love, to say what a fool he had been, beg for forgiveness and say it was Demelza he had wanted all along!

But no, he just made a few half hearted attempts to get her excited about mines and investments and tin!

GruffaloZogTiddler · 30/10/2016 22:34

I love how Captain Orenshaw makes random cheerful comments about Ross' private life Grin

GruffaloZogTiddler · 30/10/2016 22:45

I mean Henshawe.

thedogsvagina · 30/10/2016 22:46

Ross is so wrapped up in himself that he didn't consider how his actions would affect Demelza, he said as much. You can see this slow realisation of how much he has hurt her. He hasn't even began to consider what he's done to Elizabeth and how he gave her "no option".

I'm way over invested in Poldark

thedogsvagina · 30/10/2016 22:48

I love Captain Henshawe. He's a much better man than Poldark.

TheHiphopopotamus · 30/10/2016 22:51

Ross is a selfish prick, isn't he? (Although I've enjoyed these last three episodes far more than the rest of the series).

I still think Elizabeth has been horribly miscast. How can they possibly describe the Amazonian Heida Reed, who looks like she has the constitution of a concrete bollard, as being of 'delicate disposition'? Hmm

normastits5 · 30/10/2016 22:54

I thought it was so powerful when demelza told Ross how she hadn't lost HER pride but her pride in him. That hit him harder than the punch

stonecircle · 30/10/2016 22:55

Captain Henshaw's vile! Elizabeth is so bloody pathetic it's infuriating. I presume the fainting means she's pregnant?

Rosa89 · 30/10/2016 22:56

I'd be out too 9troubledwaters if it wasn't for Demelza, I'm rooting for her all the way. Gutted as Ross could do no wrong in my eyes up to this point.

Next week's episode looks good, don't know what I'm going to do with my Sundays when it comes to an end!
