Just seen that this is starting on Monday 29th August at 8pm on Watch. Love this show so much! The British one is crap in comparison. DD and I watch this together every year - can't wait :)

I think Ashley was desperate to look inventive, but fried pasta - no. I don't mind them completing the dish at the table, later in the competition, but not in week 1. I like the sister, but find the brother annoying. Hopefully the sister will quell her nerves having produced a good dish in the elimination and improve.

I'm sure that they both cooked a wonderful dish in their audition, they certainly looked like wonderful dishes, but the cynical part of me can't help but think that as soon as the producers realised that a brother and sister were auditioning together that they were guaranteed to get through. I bet there'll be some engineered head to head moments over the course of the series and that one of them will go out of the competition on an elimination against one another.

Oh god, if I hear one more time about Cecilia's children I will kick the telly! She did well to keep up with Marco though, must have filleted and skinned a fish before. Good for her, it always amazes me when they haven't tried various techniques in preparation

Love a Marco challenge!

It was brilliant!

And agree she deserved to be there after that awful parsnip thing Confused

Oh God the parsnip thing with her sons name like a birthday dessert at a restaurant was so cringe! Really enjoying this season so far :)

As she was talking about it, I was looking at the cat saying... No she isn't is she, oh no she is... Think they were very kind to her at the judging but it was the most awful thing ever!

Also loving the season!

Parsnip surprise Grin

I really like Cecilia, but goodness that big pale curly parsnip was very cringey Smile I also felt a bit sorry for the poor crying guy last night (can't remember their names yet).

It's a good night tonight - Bake off and Masterchef Aus!

I've been watching Yes Chef on BBc... Different league but that Parsnip was nearly as bad as the really lovely chap (and he did seem so netvous) who made an apple and fennel sauce and wrapped it in a piece of salami...

Or the woman on come dine with me who hollowed out cucumbers and filled them with spam...

We refer to it as flacid parsnipgate Grin
Great British Menu on every night too. One of these days I might learn to cook, not just eat

Hey, could someone please tell me how much Nigella is actually in it? I love Masterchef Aus but can't bloody stand Nigella so haven't watched any of it so far!

Report
Sunnymeg · 07/09/2016 16:41

I think that there is a Nigella week, so you are probably safe until she is shown in the trailers. MPW is giving it his all at the moment.

Love this programme, have watched every season. As a family we actually wept laughing at the parsnip.

Report
Bearfrills · 09/09/2016 07:22

It must be really hard being away from your family, the pressure, the long days etc but that Parsnip. Yeesh. It seems to have been the kick up the bum she needed though.

I was Shock in the immunity challenge when the professional chef did that beautiful butterbean salad, all layered and pretty, and then hid it with a slice of veal that looked like red slime on a plate.

I agree. He got low scores but probably thinks the judges are too old fashioned and don't get it. Mind you, what about the other dish? Revolting! And no one mentioned that she chose Italian ingredients and made a French dish

I am so sick of panna fucking cotta, it's all they over do! And it gives Matt an excuse to be all pervy over the jiggly wobble

Anyway! Two hours tonight I think.

Can't believe I didn't know this was back on - will have to catch up. Love the Australian version so much more than ours!

I love MKR and have never seen Australian Masterchef before. I'm not feeling well so I've been watching series 8 and I love it.

Don't really have favourites but like Cecilia, even though the parsnip was the worst food so far. She was great in the pressure tests. Back stories leave me cold.

The tests really hard.

Report
Sunnymeg · 11/09/2016 18:15

Donkey, the tests get a lot harder as the series progresses, they really put the contestants through it, but a lot of them have gone on to have careers in the food industry, not just the series winners.

Report
DonkeyHotay · 11/09/2016 20:00

More difficult Shock. Cook along with Marco was tough. I like the rewards and masterclass. MKR and this means a lot of Australian cooking per night.

Wait until Peter Gilmore turns up, even Marco would have trouble with some of his recipes!

I love Reynold so much Grin Sniggered when George said "how does it feel to stand so close to Reynold?" and Reynold was all embarrassed and said "that wasn't really necessary". He just seems so nice. I would be very proud if he was my son.

God, I can tell I'm getting old when I think of young men as my son rather than anything else Grin

Report
Davros · 14/09/2016 23:31

Reynold is great isn't he? Pleased he is doing well. We hate Nicolette!
