Just seen that this is starting on Monday 29th August at 8pm on Watch. Love this show so much! The British one is crap in comparison. DD and I watch this together every year - can't wait :)

Yes, I think I said on last year's thread that I'd watched a cookery programme Matt Moran made on a rival Australian TV network. I presume that made him persona non gratia as far as MAus is concerned.

Bearfrills · 29/08/2016 20:52

Watching it now with DH and we're wondering how they do the auditions. It's got to be heavily edited, hasn't it? They've got 24 aprons and it looks like they're handing them out as they go. But what if they'd handed all 24 out before they got to the end of the line of people waiting to cook? Or what if they'd seen everyone and only handed out, say, 17 aprons? Plus how do the judges eat all of that food, dish after dish!? I'd be sick.

TKRedLemonade · 29/08/2016 22:33

I suspect heavily edited and prob filmed over a few days. Everyone just prob has to wear the same clothes. Like they do on both days of GBBO

Sunnymeg · 30/08/2016 10:03

I never really like the audition rounds. I don't feel that the series really starts until we see the first show with the contestants in the titles and you can start to identify everybody.

Zucker · 30/08/2016 10:50

Same here Sunnymeg. I don't care about their journey to get there or that someone is cooking granny's stew to qualify!

What I do love though is when they invariably have to do a huge challenge to whittle the contestants down and they all get to see what they're up against. Normally results in some of them having to eat some humble pie Grin

Yes I'm slightly mean ha!

lurkingfromhome · 30/08/2016 10:57

I am bereft. This is my favourite food programme by far and for the first time we have no Sky box to watch it on as we live in a valley and can't get a signal (long story) so I have had to cancel the Sky TV subscription.

We have Now TV, Freeview, Amazon Prime & Netflix and even with all that I STILL can't think of a way to get Watch on catch-up. Does anyone have any bright ideas? I love this show.

DollyBarton · 30/08/2016 10:58

Oh gosh! I didn't realise we could view this! An old friend of mine will be on it this year!

DollyBarton · 30/08/2016 11:01

I've just checked and it must be series 9 she is on as she has only just been accepted.

PepsiPenguin · 30/08/2016 11:01

Can I join in please :)

Love MasterChef Australia, and missing master chef USA (love the Canadian one too, because of the crazy Chinese chef) Uk is utterly crap in comparison!

Also love MKR - Op think you asked what this was, couldn't see a response it's My Kitchen Rules, if you haven't seen it you have a fair few seasons to catch up on and it's brilliant too!

You could get a NowTV box... £5 a month or so for sky channels including watch, you could then just pay for the months it's on 😊

lurkingfromhome · 30/08/2016 11:13

I have a Now TV box, Pepsi but I don't think Watch is one of the channels on it - it's Sky 1, Sky Atlantic etc but no sign of Watch Sad

ellenanora5 · 30/08/2016 11:25

Lurkingfromhome, for some reason my sky box switched the channels and I found Watch up in the 200s, it's now just a big W, have a flick around you never know.

I used to love when they did the first interviews with about 50 people and they had to make butter, chip potatoes, finely chop onions, usually have to weigh everything to the exact same weight, that used to be great fun.

Yep I'm not too interested in the "journey" though I do remember the lady who had the snowboarding accident.

Sorry I didn't see the question about MKR until now, it's on skyliving at 6.45 every evening, it's brill.

lurkingfromhome · 30/08/2016 11:29

Thanks, ellenora, but our Sky box doesn't work at all (the dish just didn't get any signal so I cancelled the subscription). All we have is Now TV, Amazon Prime, Netflix and Freeview. I'd buy Chromecast if I thought that would work but I don't think you can stream it from the Watch website. Argh.

PepsiPenguin · 30/08/2016 11:39

Oh no :( maybe I was thinking of skyliving and MKR...

But... I have done some googling and there is an App for UKTV 😊😊😊😊

where you can watch the shows for FREE!!!

PepsiPenguin · 30/08/2016 11:41

How annoying just downloaded and they don't have bloody watch on it yet

lurkingfromhome · 30/08/2016 12:03

but you are so kind to try to help me!

DropYourSword · 30/08/2016 12:09

I live in Australia. I loved this season, was really good.

Karli wins.

Natch, just kidding. Made that name up on the spot. Enjoy the season!

PepsiPenguin · 30/08/2016 14:24

Your welcome, was so upset when I double checked it and it wasn't on there :( hopefully soon!

StepAwayFromTheThesaurus · 30/08/2016 14:41

It's available on tenplay. So you could probably watch it through a vpn that gives you an Australian up address.

lurkingfromhome · 30/08/2016 17:03

Ooh, thanks Step. I will investigate that (have always been a bit scared of vpns but my love of Masterchef Australia may win out...).

Davros · 30/08/2016 19:46

Wah! Can't read or join the thread as waiting for DD to drag herself away from Netflix long enough to watch together

getdownshep · 31/08/2016 20:21

I have BT tv which is crap but can get W.
I haven't started watching yet as dh is off work and hates it, the weirdo!

Davros · 31/08/2016 22:50

Bloody hell, a Shannon Bennet desert just to get into the competition. The MC USA winners couldn't do this. Glad Jordan didn't get through, didn't like her for some reason

PinkissimoAndPearls · 01/09/2016 08:34

Goodness me, I like a pudding Blush but that looked too much even for me! Nougat, caramel, ganache, ice cream, chocolate, chocolate sauce...I though the one that went through (no spoilers in case people are on catch up) deserved to.

Matt Preston is annoying me, I have to say. He's turning into the Gregg Wallace of Mchef. The way he puts his head onto his shoulder to taste the food

Davros · 04/09/2016 23:18

Anyone still watching? Just caught up with the first elimination. That dickhead gave up his job, then makes shit pasta on two different episodes and FRIES it!! Also, I think they should ban assembling at the table unless absolutely necessary which it wasn't either time, just trying to impress for no good reason. Bring the dish completed ffs

Bearfrills · 04/09/2016 23:19

I was cringing when he fried it. Why, dickhead? Why!?!?!?!?
