I've done the boiled sweet thing before, it worked well. I hung the decorations on the tree and they looked fab with the lights. Or at least they did until the lights melted the Windows 
Given the insider info on Kate I will have to conclude that she is lovely and fulfilled and shall continue to hate her. In real life I'd probably like her, she'd be impossible not to like but on tv I can sit here in my distinctly unperfect house with my unperfect like and feel as jealous and bitchy as I want.
