Greg Rutherford! i love him, he's seems so nice and he's super hot

SheHasAWildHeart · 22/08/2016 22:48

Just had a look on Twitter and people are so excited about this year's line up and calling it the best ever before it's even started. Twitter is often a negative space so to see that much positivity and people who haven't seen previous series joining in, I think it's going to be AMAZINGLY!!!

emotionsecho · 23/08/2016 17:27

That's quite a line up, I can't wait to see the pairings. Mind you I will be very miffed if Kevin from Grimsby doesn't get the duffer he is due.

SheHasAWildHeart · 23/08/2016 17:33

But emotionsecho there doesn't seem to be any obvious duffers within the demale celebs. I think he'll be paired with the lady from EastEnders coz she's short and has an bubbly/loud personality like him.

emotionsecho · 23/08/2016 18:47

No there doesn't seem to be any obvious duffers maybe I should start a campaign for him to be paired with Ed BallsGrin.

SheHasAWildHeart · 23/08/2016 20:20

Haha!
It's interesting but I think in the first few weeks it's people with big fan bases who survive rather than those who are better dancers. I don't know what that means for Ed, but I think Rinder will be around for a while and nicer people like Melvin will leave earlier.

emotionsecho · 23/08/2016 21:57

I agree with you there She.

I had time to kill waiting for someone and spent it watching videos on You Tube of SCD earlier series and realising how much I miss some of the previous pro dancers, Flavia especially she was a wonderful dancer and choreographer.

SoupDragon · 24/08/2016 07:37

I know Gleb isn't unit but can you imagine how he'd be able to throw Claudia Fragapane about?

The80sweregreat · 24/08/2016 08:53

I know what will happen. there will be a preview week , lots of mentions of Gold medals and Gold by Spandau Ballet being played a lot.
The dancers they don't like much now will be teamed up with the Ed Balls types.
a few weeks in
Movie night
Halloween night
Show night
O2 or Wembley night
special guest star in the judges seat - night
The pointless lindy hop when they all dance together
semi final ( cue nashing of teeth when they mark down the favourite to win )
final.
Craig will be nasty to everyone. Len will give out ' Seven's ' a lot and the costumes will mostly, be fabulous.

SheHasAWildHeart · 24/08/2016 09:18

I know what will happen
And you're point is what?

We don't tolerate negativity on SCD threads :p

the80s
Ooh I like Gold and Tony Hadley although have Ryland's awful rendition in my head and Carol Vorderman lip synching. But Claudia hasn't had a gold since 2014 so not sure they would rub that in.
There aren't that many duffers on paper this year.
They have no pros to rap the knuckles of or hate/punish now Ola, Aliona and Kristina are gone. But if Gio gets Lesley I'll believe you. Wink
Blackpool rather than Wembley.
No special guest unless someone sick, you're mixing it up with DWTS
Have not seen a group lindy hop for ages but would love to if you have one
Many of the costumes are ..erm, not so fabulous. Kellie's still crying in wardrobe, bless her.
But apart from that Wink

KimmySchmidtsSmile · 24/08/2016 11:22

Oh and it's opening night launch not preview, 3rd September and is rumoured to be a space rather than Olympian theme. (Not sure how true that is but pity the poor sod who has to recycle Mark B's spacesuit although if Pash wants to wear silver Lycra again that's all right with me!)

DiegeticMuch · 24/08/2016 11:26

No obvious duffers - agree. Lesley Joseph is much older, but she looks fit and slim, and she may have had dance training. Ed Balls is a keen runner. There's no Russell Grant/Ann Widdecombe contestant this year.

That said,Judy Murray was surprisingly poor despite high fitness levels. Likewise, Rachel Riley and Iwan Thomas. I'm sure there are others. Last year's boxer was unlucky to have sustained an injury.

KurriKurri · 24/08/2016 11:28

I always look forward to seeing who wardrobe has decided to humiliate Grin

I hope Kevin gets someone who will manage to to control 'Jazz Hands Kevin' the not very alter ego that surfaced last year with Kellie egging him on.

So looking forward to this years Strictly - I'm getting the 'September's Coming' butterflies I get every year Smile

DiegeticMuch · 24/08/2016 11:32

I love Autumn tv. I wish that Call the Midwife was on during the run-up to Christmas now that Downton has finished.

I know nothing about dancing but really enjoy SCD! The judges make it for me, especially Craig and Darcey.

KurriKurri · 24/08/2016 11:34

Ditto me Diegetic - I also know nothing about dancing - but I know what I like Grin

SheHasAWildHeart · 24/08/2016 11:43

Ed Balls has posted some nice pics on Twitter to anyone who wants a SCD fix! twitter.com/edballs

I think I'm going to like Ed - he's got the right attitude, doesn't take himself too seriously.

emotionsecho · 24/08/2016 13:12

I think Ed Balls might be quite a hit.

TheInternetIsForPorn · 24/08/2016 13:34

Ed Balls

KurriKurri · 24/08/2016 13:41

Bruno will be jumping for joy that there is someone called 'Balls' on the show - cue all sorts of puns about 'glitterBalls' and worse.

SheHasAWildHeart · 24/08/2016 13:48

I think I'm going to like Ed - he's got the right attitude, doesn't take himself too seriously.
Agreed - his tweets and facebook page shows that he's really excited and enjoying the experience.

LunaLoveg00d · 24/08/2016 15:00

Ed Balls came across very well when he did the Bake Off too - completely different to how he appeared in his "proper" job as shadow chancellor. Had he let a bit more personality through in politics, it may have been different for him!

ppeatfruit · 24/08/2016 15:04

I don't care if it's predictable (that's one of it's joys) I love the general campness of it, learning, new to me, old fashioned ballroom dance steps. like the Lindy hop. I did modern ballet, but I'm open to all sorts Grin. I 'm continually amazed at the skill of the pros (except the big heads like Gleb!).

I'm sad that Len's leaving but maybe they 'll have another woman judge now to even up the panel.
