I know where this is set, I've been to that very beach (it's stunning) and stayed in a cottage a couple of miles away!
It's true, there is a village with shop etc about five miles away, and there is a footpath that runs through the area where they are (plus Scottish right to roam anyway) so they're going to get walkers through there. It's not that cut off, but cut off enough for the purposes of the programme I suppose.
It is a particularly beautiful part of Scotland (Ardnamurchan).
I'm going to be following this for the scenery as much as anything.
