I guess when they get wed in the show and he gives her the ring she is still trying to get back to Frank. She's not in love with Jamie at that point, just marrying him to keep safe from BJR.
So Frank's ring is more important to her at that time.
I'd have soon got rid of that boring gold band though like you Hiphop.

Drywhitethanks · 21/07/2016 19:18

Oh me too.......bloody Frank

Drywhitethanks · 21/07/2016 19:19

Will keep going Hiphop have them all!

Drywhitethanks · 21/07/2016 19:20

"Hello Lassies, remember me?" Wink

"I don't have a hot Jock cock remember Grin but I'd love to taste your pasties!"

No gin involved!

Lessstressedhemum · 21/07/2016 19:26

Aiden is tainted for me because of his being a RedcoatSad However, he is a thing of beauty.
As for the ring, I wouldn't be able to get Frank's ring off quick enough. Still can't understand why she clings on to him so much.

TheHiphopopotamus · 21/07/2016 19:45

Has anyone read the Poldark novels? I've a feeling we won't be liking him as much next series, but we shall see.

He is gawjuss though. Amazing what a pair of breeches and a kilt can do for a fella.

snozzlemaid · 21/07/2016 20:05

Yes I've read them and know what you're referring to. Will be interesting to see how they do that storyline.
No doubt will see you all on a Poldark thread.

Drywhitethanks · 21/07/2016 20:48

I read them all in my teens.....can't remember much. Not happy about the bad thing. I love Aidan.

Hiphop.......breeches, kilts, rugby kit, good tailoring, uniforms, wet shirts coming out of lakes, Viking leather.......I'm coming over all whistlful

TheHiphopopotamus · 21/07/2016 20:51

I was threatening to have a Mr Darcey party where all the men had to dress as MrD

Grin No, you were well within your rights. I always said if we renewed our wedding vows, it would be a P&P themed ceremony.

Surprisingly, DH hasn't taken me up on it yet HmmGrin

Drywhitethanks · 21/07/2016 21:15

Perhaps Outlander theme Hiphop? You could do the "bone of my bone" thing

TheHiphopopotamus · 21/07/2016 21:22

Ha! That's an ace idea Grin Reckon DH would look good in a kilt, and he's got red hair!

JacquettaWoodville · 22/07/2016 08:27

Just watched the episode where Claire decided to stay. Sob. Am jealous of those who haven't read the books and are seeing the DVDs fresh!

JacquettaWoodville · 22/07/2016 08:48

I know you are all further on than me and have probably discussed already, but what do you think of the difference in the witch trials and Laoghaire's and Ned Gowan's roles?

I liked Ned in the TV trial.

Lessstressedhemum · 22/07/2016 10:05

I read the Poldark novels when I was young, so that's lost in the midst of time. I don't think Ross actually did the Bad Thing, though, from context and from other stuff in other places in the books.

Jacquetta, I think Ned was brave even turning up for the witch trials. And Laoghaire was a vindictive, immature brat! I think that this is the reason Claire never tells Jamie about her role, she realises that L acted out of a kind of immature delusion and spite. She, Claire, being a grown woman, rises above it and is just so glad to be alive with jamie that she won't dignify Laoghaire with more headspace than necessary. I like the whole thing in the books with the rosary, although it strikes me as a bit beyond the realms of possibility that J could chuck them and have them land neatly over Claire's headHmm I do love the whole manliness of the show though, "First man forward is the first man down" [swoon]

Lessstressedhemum · 22/07/2016 10:06

Dry, I would love to do a handfasting, it's how they do humanist weddings.

JacquettaWoodville · 22/07/2016 10:25

Hi Less

L's testifying at the trial would've been known to Jamie, of course, making the future developments for J&L less likely compared to the books where he didn't know until a lot later that she was behind getting Claire to Cranesmuir.

L in the book is someone who takes secretive actions to harm Claire, but IMO wouldn't overtly confront her/speak against her, dance on her ashes etc!

I prefer the book version but loved Ned at the TV trial so it's swings and roundabouts!

Lessstressedhemum · 22/07/2016 10:36

Aye, Laoghaire's actions are all a bit sleeker. I think it's because she is so young. Perhaps she didn't actually think that they would burn Claire. Actually witch burnings were outlawed, I think, in the 1720s, so maybe she only wanted to scare her away?

JacquettaWoodville · 22/07/2016 10:59

She may have acted on impulse in the book to give Claire a fright, I forget. She wouldn't have known about the baby dying and other Claire "witch" evidence, I guess.

Justbeingnosey123 · 22/07/2016 13:05

Jamie wasn't at the trial when laoghaire gave evidence so he wouldn't definitely know. I always thought Claire didn't tell him cause it's just after the trial she tells Jamie the truth and it all got lost in the bigger story.

JacquettaWoodville · 22/07/2016 13:54

Just, but Ned was there, plus the whole village. Also in the book I don't think Jamie knows about the ill wish being her.

I don't mind the changes, I just think it'll be awkward later for TV Jamie Wink

Lessstressedhemum · 22/07/2016 14:10

Aye, a lot of the book stuff might be awkward later on for TV Jamie! In the series, he gives Claire his father's signet ring to give to the baby, in the book he gives it to Roger to use as a wedding ring for Brianna, as a kind of token of apology and acceptance, for instance.

Ned didn't know, I don't think, that Laoghaire set Claire up? And they fled the scene straight after J rescued her, so maybe they were just that caught up in everything else that Laoghaire's role got overlooked. They never went back to cranesmure and Colum had the keep in lockdown, so word !it not have hot back to Jamie about L's involvement. It's a wee plot hole right enough.

Lessstressedhemum · 22/07/2016 14:11

Might not have got back to Jamie! Will I never learn to check before pressing postBlush

pixieg1rl · 22/07/2016 16:44

I'm just catching up with you lot, I got as far as,

But Roger is brilliant at oral sex, is he not? (I have a genuine doubt on whether I'm basing this on any actual book events or its my own fantasy

And spat my tea everywhere. Thank you aka. With RR cast I will definitely be supporting this theory Blush

pixieg1rl · 22/07/2016 16:53

Hehehe, in with you drywhite on the list of things that turn a girl's grown woman's head. I blame my 40's.

breeches, kilts, rugby kit, good tailoring, uniforms, wet shirts coming out of lakes, Viking leather....
