QUITE, QUITE SURE? YOU REALLY WANT TO DISCUSS SERIES 6, EPISODE 2?

OK. I think that should be enough.

Right. R B - greatest TV villain of all time? I didn't see that coming!

OP posts:
GraysAnalogy · 02/05/2016 20:34

Ah yes that's it. I've been reading the books, I'm currently where Robb's married Jeyne, Kingslayer is with Brienne on their travels... soooo much more to read.

Did anyone notice the makeover of the Children? I wasn't keen. The other version was much better

Finally watching it!

EverySongbirdSays · 02/05/2016 20:46

I never understood why they bothered changing Jeyne Westerling to Talisa, they could have done that exact storyline and called her Jeyne, to the extent that me and a friend had fierce debates about the Talisa character and whether she would be revealed a spy, she wasn't and so was pointless.

SuffolkNWhat · 02/05/2016 20:50

I'm hoping the gift is actually the Hound (having been brought back by Lovejoy) purely to see Ramsey finally dealt with.

JonSnowsBeardClippings · 02/05/2016 20:51

I think maybe because talisa was a sexy foreign stranger and the robb/talisa story was portrayed as an irresistible romance in the show, whereas in the book Jayne wasn't anything special, but robb married her out of duty because they slept together. I just think they literally changed the name to go with the exotic character.

WeDoNotSow · 02/05/2016 20:51

I always assumed the renamed her Talisa because they were planning to do something with Jeyne Poole. But they didn't, so god knows why they changed her name Confused

Pipbin · 02/05/2016 20:58

I feel that I need to go back and watch it all from the beginning again. I'm rather confused about it all.

GraysAnalogy · 02/05/2016 21:02

I like to pretend Robb and Talisa never existed as I have still not gotten over the Red Wedding

EverySongbirdSays · 02/05/2016 21:07

I have decided to do a big re-read, but slowly, there's lots of minor info I've missed.

REWATCHING LIVE Grin

Reading the Red Wedding was worse than watching it

RonniePickering · 02/05/2016 21:10

The red wedding scene where Talisa was stabbed in the stomach was horrific, I was pregnant when I watched it and it made me wince.

WestleyAndButtockUp · 02/05/2016 21:26

Good article about the pointlessness of Ramsay Bolton and the people he fed to the dogs in today's episode. Normally the violence on GOT at least reveals things (Stannis and his daughter, for example). The scene in the kennels revealed nothing we didn't already know from previous nastiness.

"In the first several seasons of “Game Of Thrones,” villainy was a label that became complicated and layered, just like nearly every other label. The Lannisters went from being the show’s Slytherins to becoming the three lead characters; Littlefinger (Aidan Gillen), Stannis (Stephen Dillane), Margaery (Natalie Dormer), and Varys (Conleth Hill) have moved between villainy and heroism in ever-fascinating shades of grey. " But there's very little of interest in Ramsay, now.

JennyOfOldstones · 02/05/2016 21:29

My that was a very small piece of cloth covering Jon Snow's nether regions. I hope it doesn't slip off when he jumps up off that table.

GraysAnalogy · 02/05/2016 21:31

We knew he was going to kill them, and he did in a way that was true to form. Viewers wouldn't have expected anything less and would have done a disservice to the character

WeDoNotSow · 02/05/2016 21:34

I still don't think it was pointless Westley
It was a legitimate boy child, and was a threat to him as an illegitimate bastard.

Now had it been a girl child that posed no threat I'd agree it was pointless.

The manner of it was always going to be violent as he's a sadistic bastard

WeDoNotSow · 02/05/2016 21:35

*legitimised bastard even

BonerSibary · 02/05/2016 21:39

I was pregnant when I saw Red Wedding and it left me completely unmoved. I think there's something wrong with me.

YorkshireTeaGold · 02/05/2016 21:39

Why do people think the gift could be Stannis? I LOVE Stannis and Stephen Dillane v sexy (is it just me?!)

EverySongbirdSays · 02/05/2016 21:40

Ramsay Bolton needed to get rid of his brother as the more legit heir. He was true to form, as GreysAnalogy said.

I don't know this from the book or any insider stuff/spoilers/sites but I think we will see the end of him this series - he has no real place in the ongoing arc from here really and needs his come uppance.

Hopefully it will be painful

YorkshireTeaGold · 02/05/2016 21:40

I really didn't think he died but it was rathet overshadowed by over rated Jon Snow

WestleyAndButtockUp · 02/05/2016 21:41

He's a sadist. Right.

Wouldn't you rather be watching a sadist with other dimensions? With a conscience about some things? Who tries to resist his compulsions? Who loves ... somebody? Who has a bizarrely interesting hobby that reveals some hidden sensitive side?

EverySongbirdSays · 02/05/2016 21:42

Why do people think the gift could be Stannis?

Because Ramsey doesn't know he's dead, and his corpse is out in the snow somewhere from when Brienne killed him.

WeDoNotSow · 02/05/2016 21:43

The last time I read about a sadist with a soft side was Christian Grey.
I'd take Bolton each and every time over him Grin

SuffolkNWhat · 02/05/2016 21:43

Grin at the mental image of Ramsay returning to his room to crochet blankets for each of his beloved dogs. Cursing under his breath about where his sodding 3.5 hook is and why does it always slip between the chair cushions...

EverySongbirdSays · 02/05/2016 21:45

Wasn't Myranda his sensitive side Westley ?

He was going to marry her when he was still base born and he liked that she smelled of dog Grin

GraysAnalogy · 02/05/2016 21:49

I'd like to see Ramsey as close to GRRM wrote him. We did see another dimension to Ramsey in the 1st episode of this season, he showed some grief momentarily. then went back to the psychopath we all know as he fed her body to his dogs.

Ramsey is the only character who acts in this way, who is very simple in his wants and needs and doesn't have to have a more nobel cause or a big defining moment that sees him becoming a hero or us softening towards him - that's not him.

If people don't like that they are free to write their own books and hopefully get them adapted into a TV programme.
