Ooo doing my reread and on the night of the feast in Book 1. Jon says to Tyrion "you are your mothers trueborn son of Lannister" and he says : am I? Do tell my lord father my mother died birthing me and he's never been sure" it's written as sarcasm though

wickedlazy · 04/05/2016 05:23

Yes a new thread every week is a good idea, I know a few people who were still catching up on season 5 and didn't want to confuse themselves. Good that they could just go to whichever episode's thread they're on and get some insight but no spoilers.

SausageSmuggler · 04/05/2016 07:03

As soon as Ramsay summoned Walder and the baby it was clear things were not going to end well for them. I did hope that the maester would warn them and they'd run but no. I had to cover my eyes and ears during their whole exchange.
I hope The Hound returns. Any offscreen death makes me think they could return somehow.

PreviouslyMal · 04/05/2016 08:32

Sansa was scared of the hound but she knows he saved her from the mob and would have taken her with him after the battle of Blackwater, she must know that he would have protected Arya.
It was odd that Brienne didn't mention him by name, Podrick would know that Sansa knew the hound.

Trills · 04/05/2016 08:35

Maybe Brienne would expect mentioning the Hound to scare Sansa more, and doesn't think she needs to hear anything else scary right now?

Fiderer · 04/05/2016 09:55

Had Brienne ever met the Hound? She'd doubtless have heard of him but perhaps just didn't recognise him. When she brought Jamie back to King's Landing he was long gone.

iisme · 04/05/2016 11:29

I don't think there'd be any point Brienne telling Sansa about the fight. She's trying to comfort her and telling her only part of the truth makes it sound a lot more hopefully. There's nothing Sansa can do with the information that Arya ran off alone, so I think leaving it vague and more positive is the kind thing to do.

WestleyAndButtockUp · 04/05/2016 12:00

Brienne MUST have guessed who the Hound was. I read somewhere she has a deep knowledge of all the great families, because of her obsession about being a knight and her reverence for the chivalric ideals.

It's inconceivable she wouldn't know all the members of the Kingsguard, especially the scarred one called the Hound --- who is brother of the Mountain, who chopped off the head of his own horse at a famous joust!

Fiderer · 04/05/2016 12:12

Grin True, she was being kind then. I do like her. And Pod.

Can't understand why the Queen of Thorns hasn't descended on King's Landing where 2 of her grandchildren are imprisoned. She must have a string of spies there. Would love to see her take on the High Sparrow.

Thurlow · 04/05/2016 12:19

The only thing I have to add is the highly non-intelligent comment that with Roose and Stannis both now dead, I have no one left to fancy and this makes me very sad...

ZacharyQuack · 04/05/2016 12:20

Hot Pie told Brienne and Pod that Arya was travelling with the Hound, and Pod knew the Hound and told Brienne who he was when she met them. That's how she knew who Arya was.

Degustibusnonestdisputandem · 04/05/2016 12:36

Nothing to add at this point, just singing in! It is kind of strange things happening that everyone's pretty much guessed at though...

WestleyAndButtockUp · 04/05/2016 13:15

Yes Zachary, you're right. The 'girls with swords' conversation with Arya was going so well until the Hound finished his shitting and Pod said who he was.

QueenOfThorns · 04/05/2016 13:28

Ah, Fiderer, maybe I'm just biding my time? Perhaps I have a cunning plan? Grin

Sorry if this has already been mentioned, but where's Littlefinger got to? And more importantly, what's the sneaky git up to now?

PreviouslyMal · 04/05/2016 13:39

I know, where the hell is Baelish? I can't see him hanging around waiting for the Faith to arrest him, has he gone to the Eeryie, doubt it. Will he be upset when he finds out about Sansa's mistreatment? Out for revenge against Ramsay? (join the queue love) .
I hope Blackfish is back at River run building an army to join up with Jon/Sansa.
I really want Arya to get needle from it's hiding place and set off for The wall .

Fiderer · 04/05/2016 14:19

Well, Queen I was going to say "Get yer skates on" but while I was looking up the nasty Septa's name I came across this on the Wiki Westeros thing. Scroll down to S5.

Still can't believe she'd let it go though.

Annarose2014 · 04/05/2016 14:27

I really don't care about Arya any more, which is a shame. I just can't envisage a future for her. It's a bit boring. She has no part to play in anyone's lives. She's stuck in Braavos where nobody is. Pointless.

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 04/05/2016 15:19

Gosh, I couldn't disagree more. I love Arya's storyline precisely because I have no idea where it's going and it's different to everyone else's.

OP posts:
Thurlow · 04/05/2016 15:27

Arya is clearly going to be some sort of deus ex machina at the end. She'll turn up, disguised as someone else, and kill someone really important right at the very end.

I also couldn't give a flying for her story anymore.

Cerseirys · 04/05/2016 15:32

Does anyone else think that Margaery is going to join the Faith Militant and then convert Tommen too? Cerseirys won't be best pleased...

Cerseirys · 04/05/2016 15:33

Cersei of course. I couldn't care less tbh!

PreviouslyMal · 04/05/2016 15:57

What about poor Ser Loras and his lovely hair?
How's he going to shave his armpits in a dungeon?

WestleyAndButtockUp · 04/05/2016 16:19

I would like to see the religions treated a little more seriously. I don't know how. But they do all seem to be just background, with only a few people talking about the religions (in exactly the same way). For everyone else, it's just for a few rituals. I can't get a sense of any great divide amongst the old gods and the new. Am I wrong?

SuffolkNWhat · 04/05/2016 16:24

The books are better for going into the detail about the Seven and the Old Gods of the North

EverySongbirdSays · 04/05/2016 16:51

ather, or the Father Above, representing judgment. He is depicted as a bearded man who carries scales, and is prayed to for justice.
Mother, or the Mother Above, representing motherhood and nurturing. She is prayed to for fertility or compassion, and is depicted as smiling with love, embodying the concept of mercy.
Warrior, representing strength in battle. He is prayed to for courage and victory. He carries a sword.
Maiden, representing innocence and chastity. She is usually prayed to to protect a maiden's virtue.
Smith, representing crafts and labor. He is usually prayed to when work needs to be done, for strength. He carries a hammer.
Crone, representing wisdom. She carries a lantern and is prayed to for guidance.
Stranger, representing death and the unknown. Worshipers rarely seek favor from the Stranger, but outcasts sometimes associate themselves with this god.

Old Gods is old fashioned tree worship of the sort that existed in Europe preChristianity and has a lot in common with African tribal beliefs as well "the ancestors" etc
