Watching tonight. Grrr.

I don't think it's on to discuss a 2am airing when the majority of people will watch it tonight, tbh.

Oooooh brilliant, such a good episode.
I'll keep shtum until after the 9pm episode has aired. In the meantime I'm going to watch it again.

The thread does say spoilers in the title! I don't normally watch til the evening but bank holiday and all that... Usually I have to avoid FB links and MN threads til I have watched.

I don't think anyone has given away the best bits.

Spoilers after the evening view. FFS

Yeah I think wait till after the 9pm showing. Already had to hide soemthing pop up on FB. I assume the majority will end up watching tonight and plenty of people do still work bank holidays (me included) so normally i wouldn't have the chance to watch till later.

Hmm it says spoilers!

Report
Lweji · 02/05/2016 10:55

In that case it should specify 2am viewers.

I don't think it's on to complain about spoilers in a thread that contains the word 'spoilers'. There aren't any so far anyway, but if you're really concerned, I recommend you do as I did last week when I didn't get chance to watch until after the later Monday showing. I didn't go on any threads saying GOT spoilers in the title until I'd seen the episode. Worked brilliantly.

Hi there everyone,
Obviously we can't police this too harshly because it's JUST TELLY but nobody at HQ wants to be asked to remove spoilers either because, well, we are trying to enjoy the series as well and being but lowly worker bees are in our kip at 2am. We'd therefore politely ask, just for the smooth running of these threads, for plots not to be hinted at or spoiled until the episode has broadcast on Monday.
Cheers.

because it's JUST TELLY

What do you mean? Just telly????

You don't even have to click on the thread though, several posts appear in my TIO list and you could seen something there - I try to squint so I don't see it as I don't trust any of you.

Can we start a new dedicated thread for episode 2 then Helen? I don't mind doing it, with a suitable spoiler/enter at own risk warning. I really can't be faffed dealing with people complaining.

Hmm nice

BonerSibary

You mean a dedicated thread to early viewers? Specifying it's for early viewers?

I hope you're not in any thread about shows I watch one or more weeks in advance to the UK. Say, Homeland or The Good Wife.

Just caught up on NOW TV. My goodness me. Not an episode to miss! That's all I'm saying for now. My approach is to avoid just about everything on the internet till I've seen the episode. Spoilers really would spoil it for me.

Report
BonerSibary · 02/05/2016 11:21

I was thinking of a title like 'GOT Episode 2, will be discussing what has happened, Spoilers within'. With something in the OP suggesting that people who haven't yet viewed should use their sense and not read the thread if they don't want to be spoilered. Wouldn't like to title it 'for early viewers' though, as it wouldn't be for me to tell non early viewers whether they should participate or not. But thinking about it, if HQ don't want to be spoilered either, that might not work.

As for your other question, I'm not on any other TV threads full stop. Including those for other shows shown earlier in the UK, which would be the appropriate comparison here.

Problem is posts do show up on TIO. And you're still not specifying it's for 2am viewers. (I'll definitely hide that)

I think you're being rather precious, lweji. The op title already stated 'spoliers.' I actually stay off the internet if there is something I don't want to know about a tv show until I've watched it. Spoilers are all over the internet after a tv show is on.

Report
BonerSibary · 02/05/2016 11:41

That's because it wouldn't be 'for' 2am viewers. It would be for anyone who wanted to post, which would include both people who watched at 2am and people who, like me, watched later than 2am. It would make very clear that it would be discussing what had happened. I suppose we could mention the 2am showing in the OP for a belt and two pairs of braces approach. Whatever minimises the chances of it getting derailed.

HQ is this ok or do you not want a thread until after whoever's moderating has had chance to watch?

Report
Lweji · 02/05/2016 11:47

Well, to actually be precioussss, then specify for those watching before 9pm. :)

I also think Tommen is on borrowed time. In both the books and show, a young (maybe 10 or 12) Cersei has her future told by a witch named Maggy the Frog. Maggy said:

  1. you will be queen
  2. you will have three children, your husband will have twenty (young Cersei didn't understand that at the time)
  3. all your children will die before you
  4. you will be queen until another, younger and more beautiful, casts you down. (This is why C hates Margaery so much, but I think the younger woman is probably Daenerys)
  5. your little brother will kill you (partly why C hates Tyrion so much, but an obvious twist would be that her twin bro Jaime is also her younger bro, if only by minutes, and it's Jaime who kills her, not Tyrion. Now trying to find a reason why...)

Can we have a spoiler warning put into thread title? Or maybe make like the Archers folk and have two threads, one with spoilers and one without? Although even there, once a show has been broadcast it's fair game.

Hmm, Why can't we discuss a show that's already been broadcast?
I NEED to talk about it now!!!!
Anyway, Oh My God!!!

Report
BonerSibary · 02/05/2016 12:09

That still wouldn't work lweji, because both those who haven't watched pre 9pm but want to read and comment, and those who subsequently watch at 9pm (or indeed later) and then want to read and comment would also be welcome. I understand if HQ don't want a thread as they'd be spoilered, that's fair enough as they'd have no choice in the matter, but plenty of us work on BHs but later in the day. I'd like to talk now precisely because this is my free time before work.
