(After our antenatal thread became somewhat hijacked with talk of Doctor Who)

Hello,

My name's (usually) MsMoss and I've been a Doctor Who Geek for over twenty years now. I grew up with McCoy, stood by it through its years in the wilderness and now watch, proud but slightly bemused, as it is no longer shameful to admit you're a fan.

Anyone else with me? You love the new series but don't want the old to be forgotten?

Join me, stand up and be counted!

yes, I think at 6 it is fine (but not a v sensitive 6 yr old). On the bbc website here , if you go through the episodes, it gives a fear rating for each of them (click on it). Think this week's one is a 5 which means reaaaaaaaaaally scary!

mygirllollipop · 05/05/2007 17:49

My two year old laughs at DW saying scary so somehow I don't think she understands what scary is! My nearly six year old is fine with it, loves it, she is not what you would call sensitive. My eight year old loves it too and although she is sensitive she has been watching since the first of the new series' when she was six, she was absolutely fine. The bigger two obsess about Raven so they probably fancy DT and obsess over him too!

foxinsocks · 05/05/2007 17:49

yes, my two are Raven obsessors (or is it obsessers) too

bobsmum · 05/05/2007 17:57

Ds is 4 and he watched some bits of last week's Dalek episode because it was on earlier in the evening.

That's about the only one I can think of as being watchable for him - he's only been allowed to watch some very edited stuff from the website and the opeing credits until now.

He loved the human dalek hybrid - I think because it was so rubbery and fake looking - so no fear there! He's been running round the house with his voice changing megaphone thingy being Dalek-boy ever since

MrsWho · 05/05/2007 18:40

Both my kids want to marry DT

They are at their Dads tonight and yet I'm still sat in waiting for Dr Who , what does that say about me ?

bobsmum · 05/05/2007 18:42

Dh packs the kids off to bed at 6:30 on a saturday cos they're "more tired than usual" - really he just wants peace!

Smutti · 05/05/2007 18:53

Thanks a lot guys. We may give it a go tonight (he's not v well so that's why it's up in the air)

MrsWho · 05/05/2007 19:10

Its Mavis from Coro!

Did everyone hear Mr Saxon?

MrsWho · 05/05/2007 19:42

Trailer

thequeenofcontradiction · 05/05/2007 19:56

ooooooooooooooooo - did you see him?

MrsWho · 05/05/2007 20:13

Jack or Saxon????

SoupDragon · 05/05/2007 20:14

Eurofarkingvision Song Contest???

SoupDragon · 05/05/2007 20:16

DS2 (now 6) has watched Dr Who since it began!

MrsWho · 05/05/2007 20:20

apparantly the bbc can't get out of it and Dr Who doesn't do very well when shown earlier ( so why do it the last couple of weeks?)

NuttyMuffins · 05/05/2007 20:22

Tonights was a bit too much for 4 yr old DS, he normally loves it, but the creature in tonights scared him to death and so he went toplay outside with Dd2, who also didn't like it.

Myself and Dd1 however were glued to the screen.

SoupDragon · 05/05/2007 20:25

I agree that this week's monnster was more frightening than most. I think it was the lunging towards the screen, snarling...

Why can't they put the ESC on BBC2? It's a pile of sh*te after all.

MrsWho · 05/05/2007 20:27

does anyone actually watch eurovision?

Blandmum · 05/05/2007 20:41

I'm with the Dragon on this one. Who wants to watch that loadda crap next week????

This weeks episode was too scary for ds (7)

and Jack is back [sigh]

my 10 year old keeps telling me I'm sad because 'He's gay mum'

Like otherwise I'd be in with a chance

SoupDragon · 05/05/2007 20:51

Obviously your DD thinks you'd be in with a chance...

Fubsy · 05/05/2007 21:19

Loved this weeks episode, loved the trailer, HATE EUROVISION!

DD refused to not watch it, in spite of seeing thepicture in the Radio Times. So clung to eachother on the sofa, and she seems to have weathered it OK.

She was impressed when I told her the Dr had reversed the polarity before he said it, even though she had no idea what he was on about!

redbeki · 05/05/2007 21:21

lazarus!
I'm not into this series yet.The best one so far was the motorway one, episode 2 ,I think. And Ardan O'Hanlan as the cat -man...Class!!

MrsWho · 05/05/2007 21:30

Saxons ring was the same as the lazlabs symbol if anyone is interested, just seen screenn caps on OG

dds (5 & 7) were telling my xh about John Barrowman being married to a man but 'he didn't wear a nice dress though '

BUT John Simm, John Barrowman and David Tennant all in the same episode, will need a bib for all the drool

MrsWho · 05/05/2007 21:31

come and support my anti-eurovision

SueBaroo · 05/05/2007 21:41

Oh my f-ing goodness, that was fabulous. Martha totally rocks, and hands up who'd say yes to DT fiddling with yer knickers, roflol. Brilliant episode.

thequeenofcontradiction · 05/05/2007 21:53

I meant John Simm when I said ooooooo!

There has been much excitement in the house of contradiction - DH is a serious Who fan ans has been glued to the Outpost Gallifrey site waiting for Saxon-updates...
