And their baby cots are shit

CaptainAnkles · 13/04/2016 21:20

She literally said three 'wtf' things in one sentence. Hmm

coffeeisnectar · 13/04/2016 21:20

The cleaners are tracked???

Sparklingbrook · 13/04/2016 21:21

Why did the Portland agree to this? It''s not great PR is it?

Sparklingbrook · 13/04/2016 21:22

A fold up bed? Shock

sparechange · 13/04/2016 21:22

Years ago, there was a series called Portland Babies, which was more like OBEM set in the Portland. It was much better than this!

MistyMeena · 13/04/2016 21:22

I keep pulling this face Hmm

HookedOnHooking · 13/04/2016 21:23

Those rooms are really not that great.

LaContessaDiPlump · 13/04/2016 21:23

I'm warming to the Chinese lady. She's clueless about privilege, but quite sweet otherwise.

seasidesally · 13/04/2016 21:24

the rooms seem very NHS but i suppose its to be expected cant be full of soft furnishings

OP posts:
birchygoo · 13/04/2016 21:24

It seems kind of soul less. No excitement or anticipation coming across.

Sparklingbrook · 13/04/2016 21:24

Are there different standards of room? I am with you Hooked.

Justfivemoreminutesplease · 13/04/2016 21:24

Why on earth did The Portland agree to this? Confused

RainbowJack · 13/04/2016 21:24

That's what I was thinking this would be like sparechange

Instead it's like an hour long Portland advert.

raisedbyguineapigs · 13/04/2016 21:24

The Portland can't deal with emergency situations. Anything goes wrong and they're quick to dump you on the NHS. They don't care how dirty and crappy it is then Hmm ID go Paddington any day if I was rich.

HumphreyCobblers · 13/04/2016 21:24

Yes, I thought her comments were terrible!

There was an interview on WH today with one NHS midwife and one from the Portland. It was annoyingly antagonistic I thought.

There is a 'look at the stupid rich people' vibe about this programme.

A midwife took all three of my babies away in the night for a few hours so I could get some sleep...I was profoundly grateful. That was on the NHS too.

HookedOnHooking · 13/04/2016 21:26

Did they do optimal cord clamping with that section????? Did they??????

HumphreyCobblers · 13/04/2016 21:26

I women on the radio said that there IS a unit for emergency care, it wasn't shown on the programme.

To be honest, if I could have afforded it I SO would have done it! I would take a lots of the sting away..

Bue · 13/04/2016 21:26

A few minutes behind here. I liked Anna until she said that she is suppressing her milk because she "just wants the baby to be well". FFS. That is the most idiotic and boneheaded reasoning I've ever heard. Pat was seriously Hmm.

Honestly I had a special long-stay postnatal room because we had to be in for a few days, and it was nicer than these. Thank you NHS.

HookedOnHooking · 13/04/2016 21:26

No skin to skin in theatre ......

Sparklingbrook · 13/04/2016 21:27

Yes a midwife whisked DS1 away to the nursery so i could get some sleep the first night. NHS hospital.

seasidesally · 13/04/2016 21:27

nobody took my twins for a few hrs and i has a c section and blood transfusion after Confused

HarlettOScara · 13/04/2016 21:27

My room in an NHS maternity unit wasn't much different.

Food looks better at the Portland, though.

birchygoo · 13/04/2016 21:27

I wouldn't mind those breakfast options though..!

HumphreyCobblers · 13/04/2016 21:28

I happened to have all three of mine at very quiet times on the ward, I think I was lucky
