NO! Not sure I want to see that Shock

pixie Nooo! Blush

I'm not sure that's a good idea either. What if it doesn't live up to expectation? I couldn't bear it.

pixieg1rl · 30/04/2016 11:51

It's just a rumour, so could just be hype to stoke interest. The social media machine around OL is pretty full on.

I'm still recovering from Tobias Menzies tugging away at his like a lump of play dough Confused

Drywhitethanks · 30/04/2016 15:11

That was brave but disturbing

I've recommended OL to my boss, Drywhite, so I think you're ok ;)

And I for one am fully onboard with a full-frontal Jamie :D

hudyerwheesht · 30/04/2016 21:12

Just caught up(with the thread, not OL obviously) - hope you're feeling better snozzle

I want someone to commission the TV series that AKA describes below. Now. If they can do it with movies with the whole Avengers/Batman & Superman (or whatever-you get the idea) then this should be entirely feasible.

snozzlemaid · 30/04/2016 22:54

Thank God my dcs are too old for play dough now. Grin Wouldn't be able to look at some without that image appearing in my head.
I've been spending my recovery time today mostly reading, so I've almost finished book one.
And looking forward to the new episode tomorrow. I'll probably be up before anyone else so I'll be able to watch it first thing.

Drywhitethanks · 01/05/2016 11:31

I've been having a sneaky peek at book 2.... Hmm......just need a bit of hope.

Feeling a bit giddy about next episode.

But have mountain of ironing to tackle so it will be my reward Smile....couldn't possible watch and iron at the same time, OL needs my full attention.

And don't want to be picky but I'm wondering about Claire. She's only slept with Frank as far as we know before Jamie and in 1940s which I wouldn't imagine is all that open etc, yet she's painted as this very experienced woman. In the Wedding episode when J is surprised at how much she's enjoying herself she says it's "only if the man is a very good lover" bit corny does this mean that Frank is a great lover too? damn

Or should I just stop over thinking it?

OP posts:
pixieg1rl · 01/05/2016 12:12

Claire and Frank have always had a relationship where sex is a very important part of their intimacy. I haven't seen any reference to other sexual partners aside from Frank & Jamie, but Claire's upbringing was unusual in that she grew up with her uncle who was an archeologist and let a rather itinerant life and was exposed to other cultures. I think we also don't remember (culturally speaking) the sexual liberation that happened in the earlier parts of the 20th century, we think the big promiscuous leaps happened in the 60s.

I think that's all supposed to add up to a woman who is sexually aware, enjoys it and for whom it is important. There was a good article on the portrayal of female centred sexuality in OL that I'll see if I can find...

Drywhitethanks · 01/05/2016 12:28

Interesting Pixie.

Is everyone caught out with episode 4? If not... spoiler warning

It was overall a pretty solid episode (though I still wish they'd go back to scotland asap). Wonderful to see Jamie and Claire find their way back to each other, even if it was via some pretty dodgy avenues (soixante-neuf, anyone? I thought Jamie's escapade was ridiculous but ultimately he got away with it! I suspect he was more drunk than adulterous and while claire was right to be hurt, I can see the twisted logic). Jamie's hair was also much better though I was mostly looking at his pecs

BUT... ghastly story with Mary and the assault and wtaf is the dame blanche?! And can anyone explain why Jamie suddenly went all medieval in his front room?

Loving Fergus and Murtagh, and top notch acting from Simon Callow.

Now can they go back to Scotland please?

AKAmyself · 01/05/2016 21:24

that's a great article... but it makes me miss season 1 :(

Drywhitethanks · 01/05/2016 21:24

Has everyone watched IT yet? Really loved it, bit more action. And the Conte, bloody hell when he speaks, sexy devil.

OP posts:
Drywhitethanks · 01/05/2016 21:28

Oh AkA I agree bring back Scotland.
Particularly loved the original use of tie back as a weapon Grin
Can't believe Jamie would get up to no good at ME, honestly, what was he thinking.....just seeing if everything was working but not going the whole way? I got all confused [confuse] and thought the monkey had done it Grin
Poor Mary.
Great Murtagh action.
Watched it twice actually........great stuff.

AKAmyself · 01/05/2016 21:48

have read a couple of reviews saying this episode was too plotty, and I agree. there was enough material for 2 episodes and i wish they'd given a little bit more room to breathe to claire and jamie's reconciliation. it was such a beautiful scene (the fight and the lovemaking), and spoiled by Charlie's sudden appearance. It wouldnt have taken much, either - if only they could have fallen asleep in each other's arms, at least?

Oh and btw - I think it was someone on here who commented on how smug and comically pleased Jamie looks every time he says "Broch Tuarach". has me in stitches every time!

Drywhitethanks · 01/05/2016 22:10

I understand what they mean by too much stuff going on, and agree it would have been better to see more J and C time, but at least it had pace unlike previous boring episodes.

I really like how Jamie's character is developing. He's quite modern in some ways. That article made some great points.

OP posts:
pixieg1rl · 01/05/2016 22:32

Personally speaking I would start on Jamie by taking a nibble on his thighs, so that prostitute had good taste.

I enjoyed this episode, yes there was a lot in it, but like the book we're going to have to wait for some of the explanation.

My DP slightly ruined it at one point in the argument scene by saying "he looks like Henry Ramsay from Neighbours" and now I can't un-see it Shock

So I thought I'd have a Google to see what the Comte de St Germain looks like without the powdered wig of Outlander. Think I need to lie down now...
