Grr! Mid morning is NO use to me. I might have to watch a fringey episode from s1 to tide me over.

Jane054848 · 16/04/2016 19:34

Oh Cerseirys, sorry, crossed posts. 7amworks! Thank you.

Drywhitethanks · 16/04/2016 20:58

You're getting up at 7am on a Sunday to watch it? Shock you're worse than me Grin......will keep off here until late tomorrow then.

Wondering how SH and CB have such incredible chemistry on and off screen and can't be a couple IRL baffled, bloody incredible acting he looks besotted in interviews and, boy, do they drink a lot of Whiskey

There are a fair few comments on the outlander fan Facebook pages saying that they didn't like episode 2. Also rumours saying that some storylines from books 3&4 are going to be included in the present series.

TheHiphopopotamus · 16/04/2016 22:08

I did wonder about that actually. But (as I've already said, many a time Grin) I'm not particularly a fan of the books, so I'm not that bothered if they don't stay true to them or not. As with GoT, the later books are so convuluted and rambling, that they'll have to make changes somewhere.

MelindaGordon · 17/04/2016 10:48

Right, watched it but won't say anything for fear of spoilers other than I did like it. And Jamie's hair is better for most of the episode imo although looks like it goes from long to short to long again.

The only thing that is beginning to get on my nerves a bit is the same crackling fire sound effect used in every episode in most scenes and now I can't tune it out.

OohMavis · 17/04/2016 11:01

I sent DH to the park with the children so I could 'steam clean the sofa'

Pahaha.

Ahh sexy scenes, I missed you so.

hudyerwheesht · 17/04/2016 11:12

I've seen it can't wait to come back to discuss the bonkers things upper class 18th century Parisians apparently did/said/wore. Shock

There were a good few comic moments in this one too, and ah yes some sexy scenes. Wink

snozzlemaid · 17/04/2016 11:31

I have found my people. Outlander and Poldark (my first true love) fans.
I've only just discovered Outlander and have watched season 1 this week. I got up at half six this morning to watch the last two episodes, as I'd rather watch Jamie than sleep at the moment. Smile
I've now watched episode 1 of season 2 this morning as well and have enjoyed reading this thread. Glad to see you all seem to share my thoughts on it - confused about the return to 1948 and the pregnancy and not enjoying the Jamie hair at the moment.
Look forward to episode 2 if there are some sexy scenes.
I've bought a copy of the book from eBay, but unfortunately the seller isn't being very quick at posting it. I'm desperate to get started with it so I'm hoping it'll be here tomorrow. The book can then keep me going inbetween new episodes on Sundays.

MyVisionsComeFromSoup · 17/04/2016 11:38

I have to wait till tomorrow morning to watch it, as annoyingly the rest of the household are here and want attention Sad. But tomorrow they're all off at work./school and I'll have full control of the TV Grin

TheHiphopopotamus · 17/04/2016 13:20

Ok, I've watched it.

When can the discussion reasonably start? I'm dying to discuss a certain scene. Actually, make that two or three.

ShowOfHands · 17/04/2016 13:28

I think it's fair game tbh. Most people will reasonably avoid the thread until they've watched it.

It was utterly silly but what else would it be, it's Outlander. I do very much like the way they're emphasising Claire's strength this time round. They're showing that she does what she wants and Jamie sees her as an equal. I thought in series one she came across as quite sulky. She's a bit more feisty this time.

Casting continues to be good. Alex is not nearly sickly enough though. He looked quite healthy if a little coughy.

The Kings were really well cast imo.

Still love Murtagh. Even if he learned his Scottish accent from the back of a cereal packet.

TheHiphopopotamus · 17/04/2016 14:00

I love Murtagh and I didn't realise he wasn't actually Scottish until I read it on here Blush

I thought the casting of Alex was good, the actor has a very similar voice to TM but, no he wasn't sickly enough.

I'm also glad they're showing that Jamie has been affected by what happened at the end of S1. He just seemed to get over it in the books which I thought wasn't very realistic.

hudyerwheesht · 17/04/2016 14:53

Welcome snozzlemaid!

I'm also having to practically sit on my hands here, I will just say a couple of things:

"Honeypot"??

and

Swan nipples?!

Grin
Sunnymeg · 17/04/2016 14:55

Just finished watching episode 2 and I really enjoyed it. I can see how it annoyed the book purists though. However to my mind the series is giving us the essence of the story and that is the main thing.

ShowOfHands · 17/04/2016 14:59

Arf at honeypot.

Those clothes... or lack of them. The, um, royal throne. Shock

ShowOfHands · 17/04/2016 15:00

"Parritch?!?"

TheHiphopopotamus · 17/04/2016 15:07

Oh and the brothel scene. And Claire's red dress - Louis' mistress very nearly wasn't the only one with her nipples out.

The first two episodes have zipped along quite nicely, there were a few instances in the first series where I got bored. In fact I nearly gave up at one point, but I'm so glad I stuck with.

Cerseirys · 17/04/2016 15:40

DP and DS have gone to the park for an hour or so. The house is a bit messy so I volunteered to stay home and Heughn Hoover.

SansaryaAgain · 17/04/2016 15:43

Just watching it now. I see Simon Callow is back in it. He helped me break back into my own flat once...

Cerseirys · 17/04/2016 15:48

Wow! Caitríona looks GORGEOUS in the French costumes, doesn't she?

OohMavis · 17/04/2016 16:01

I thought in series one she came across as quite sulky. She's a bit more feisty this time.

Totally agree, I'm really enjoying her this season. You can see why people were mystified and wary of her in the books, such a strong personality in a woman would have been really unusual at the time. Also not just loving the way Jamie is speaking to her as an equal about politics etc, but the way Murtagh doesn't bat an eye at it either. She's clearly the mastermind and he's cool with it.

Can I also say how bloody brilliant the casting of Master Raymond is?! He's perfect!

Cerseirys · 17/04/2016 16:13

Shock at the 18th century Brazilian wax!

Drywhitethanks · 17/04/2016 16:32

Still haven't watçhed it, saving for later.
OohMavis Grin at "steam cleaning the sofa" Grin
And Cerceirys doing the hoovering made me chuckle.

Perhaps I might just watch it now and again later..........

Although Claire was completely stunning in the red dress, I did think the neckline was a bit modern but I know nothing of these things and they have a fantastic wardrobe crew so who knows. It just seemed too low cut rather that the corseted bust. But then the swan nipples made it seem tame in comparison!
Oh god, the Royal throne, I'd forgotten that.
"Only in France does the King need an audience to shite!" Grin
