Nah the maths isn't adding up. Anna Friel did drama college in Manchester with my best mate's sister. My mate and I are 50 this year, her sister is two years younger, and Anna Friel was the same age as her. So she's about 46.

I think she is my age (42) or even younger as she was hanging out with a peer of mine - and she was round about my age when brook side kicked off

I thought she had an idyllic childhood and her parent's were teachers? I'm pretty sure she is between 41-44 years old. My friend had a crush on her at uni and knew everything about her.

seems to be several storylines going on -

Serial killer investigation, which has the same pattern as a previous case that AF worked on. So she is asked some questions about it and then asks to come back to work on it (as you do). She is obviously a bit of a loose cannon but brilliant...

Dodgy business dealings and family fighting which includes AF's estranged husband, who appears to be having an affair with the boss's daughter. However, looking at AF's face at the end of the episode maybe something else is going on in her house.

Young prostitute girl who steals from/beats up clients. No idea how this is connected.

And then there is the main question of how did AF end up in the bath with blood all over the place??

Regarding her accent - she lived in the States for a long time didn't she? So has mostly lost her original Rochdale accent

Not sure if she has had a bodged lip injection or if it is her new teeth that make her mouth look funny

I can't bear AF but I think the maths does work, wasn't she about 17/18 at the time of the Brookside lesbian kiss? That was 1994.

If she was 18 in 1994 she would be 40 now. If she was 17 she would only be 39!

She was born in 1976 according to Ancestry. It's the holidays, took about 3 minutes to check, honest

I've read a few of her interviews over the years and she was at drama college in the evenings and weekends, plus I remember G.B.H and she looked about 13 maybe 14 in that so the maths add up to me as 39.

40 (or thereabout) is what she claims to be isn't it? Not 46/47 as a pp suggested

Afraid i switched off after the brutal killings,why do cop shows after 9pm always have to show torture,misery - are there no happy coppers in the real world ?
Still,might give it another go ,perhaps there might be a bit of italian cooking next week,i had hoped that calling it marcella meant in was going to be about a nigella figure solving crimes on the side .

I enjoyed the first episode (although the bag over the head is a bit grusome) and waiting for the second one to come on itv player. It's darkly atmospheric and her character is very alone but yet feisty and coping. Can't say I understand everything that's going on.

I think AF looks over 40 but she's been a heavy smoker.

I enjoyed it, though it was rather too gruesome in parts. Loved that it's set in London.

I used to often get told I look like her but I always felt a bit insulted because I didn't have that strange top lip.

Well I was born in '76 and she was playing an older person than me when she was murdering her dad in Brookside.

I liked this show btw.

I thought it was quite watchable. I did wonder where the family were though Oh is it 8 episodes though? I can usually stretch to 6 on something before running out of commitment to watching.

I've not seen her in many things but she was also good in something a few years ago that was quite gripping. Can't remember what it was called...She found out her dead husband wasn't who she thought he was.

Agree her 'expression' is interesting, but I think that's just how she is. I rather like her.

I don't think Anna Friel is telling fibs about her age. She's always been a year older than me.

I liked it. We can't expect all questions to be answered in the first episode. We have had the introductions and it'll move on from there. I really think that Netflix etc have one thing right where they release a whole series for us to watch when we want to. I'm struggling with having to wait for such a long time between episodes these days. First world problems.

was her lip always like that? it looked very odd shen she was crying in the car in profile and I don't remember it from brookside days. is she a really heavy smoker? botched trout pout?
