Well that's an hour I won't get back.
Didn't like the judges, the format is all wrong - especially the 90 points for the first round and 150 for the second - so the team that did crap in the first round end up winning it by a mile!
There's no opportunity to get to know or like or dislike the contestants and six of them go after the first hour never to be seen again. The actual cooking process is hard to keep track of - there is so much activity - three of them all doing different things and huge amounts cut out and it's rush, rush, rush and suddenly the cakes appear.
I love Bake Off and Masterchef and Sewing Bee and even the allotment one with Fern Britton is watchable, but this is one I won't be watching again.
I hate to say it - but I also really struggled with all the different accents - switching from one to the other and trying to focus in on what they were saying. When the Scottish chef guy was talking - I missed most of it, trying to tune into his accent (took me several seconds to realise he was Scottish) after the French and the Chinese and the other European accents of some of the competitors. Normally I have no problem at all .... but this was too many, too rushed and too much talking.
A big thumbs down all round. Wasn't even that excited by the cakes themselves, unlike the amateur creations on Bake Off which normally have me drooling.
