It's shite.....

Burgerbobismydad · 29/03/2016 20:48

It's all quite cringey. None of the people in the teams like each other. I don't know what they're talking about... Snore festival!

RiaOverTheRainbow · 29/03/2016 20:49

I wouldn't have been half as disappointed if it hadn't be billed as bake off. I thought it'd be fun and quirky, this is just angsty cake.

Roussette · 29/03/2016 20:49

Hahaha his poncey creation is collapsing

TheSpottedZebra · 29/03/2016 20:53

Coco I read about Dustin Hoffman today - I'm so surprised! I didn't have him down for a twat.

That young head patissier has used spray on hair, hasn't he?

Roussette · 29/03/2016 20:55

I wondered if young 'un was balding and trying to cover it up. Dustin is a bit irritating

Cocolepew · 29/03/2016 20:57

I want to take a pair of clippers to his hair

I didn' t really care a jot who got through!

Roll on Masterchef tomorrow night, far more entertaining!

blamethecat · 29/03/2016 20:58

Prince William and his team are out.
Dp thinks it's like great British menu for pastry.

WhereBeThatBlackbirdTo · 29/03/2016 20:59

Well, I will be taking that off series link then

Luckystar1 · 29/03/2016 21:00

And not to sound like a total dick, but I am struggling to understand pretty much everyone who is speaking. It's like a one stop shop of strong accents (and I too have a strong accent)

MovingOnUpMovingOnOut · 29/03/2016 21:00

It's ever so flat.

What a disappointment :(

Snoopadoop · 29/03/2016 21:00

I'm giving this a miss next week.

Roussette · 29/03/2016 21:01

I agree Lucky and not understanding most of the terms didn't help!

franke · 29/03/2016 21:06

Saw the last 20 mins and found nothing to about this. The judges were unpleasant.

franke · 29/03/2016 21:10

Nothing to love

Luckystar1 · 29/03/2016 21:14

And they didn't have a nice tent in a garden. Is it going to be like this every week?!

Greydog · 29/03/2016 21:23

that was so dull - and I didn't really want to try any of the "goodies" a sad let down

Greydog · 29/03/2016 21:24

and the fact that the unpleasant Kerridge was host - shall give this a miss next time

WantFriesWithThat · 29/03/2016 21:26

This was SO disappointing. ...

Amummyatlast · 29/03/2016 21:35

I quite liked it. But it shouldn't have been billed as GBBO..

MovingOnUpMovingOnOut · 29/03/2016 21:41

What it needed was Mel and Sue asking the very uptight contestants and judges about their Paris-Brests. Along the lines of "ooh Mikako, tell me about that brest you're making. Is it going to be lovely and soft? Or crisp and firm? ".

That's what we want :)

gruffaloshmuffalo · 29/03/2016 21:43

I didn't like the presenter. No idea why.

Didn't really like stroppy Dustin Hoffman. The young team I liked. They seemed to be friends which was nice. The other teams weren't like that.
I don't think I'll bother again. I was bored

WhoKnowsWhereTheChocolateGoes · 29/03/2016 22:30

I quite enjoyed it, that whole waiting for things to go terribly wrong feeling. However I didn't really warm to any of the contestants and the DCs said there was tol much swearing.

Fontella · 29/03/2016 22:49

Well that's an hour I won't get back.

Didn't like the judges, the format is all wrong - especially the 90 points for the first round and 150 for the second - so the team that did crap in the first round end up winning it by a mile!

There's no opportunity to get to know or like or dislike the contestants and six of them go after the first hour never to be seen again. The actual cooking process is hard to keep track of - there is so much activity - three of them all doing different things and huge amounts cut out and it's rush, rush, rush and suddenly the cakes appear.

I love Bake Off and Masterchef and Sewing Bee and even the allotment one with Fern Britton is watchable, but this is one I won't be watching again.

I hate to say it - but I also really struggled with all the different accents - switching from one to the other and trying to focus in on what they were saying. When the Scottish chef guy was talking - I missed most of it, trying to tune into his accent (took me several seconds to realise he was Scottish) after the French and the Chinese and the other European accents of some of the competitors. Normally I have no problem at all .... but this was too many, too rushed and too much talking.

A big thumbs down all round. Wasn't even that excited by the cakes themselves, unlike the amateur creations on Bake Off which normally have me drooling.
