Anyone else think this looks good?

OP posts:
Davros · 17/04/2016 21:17

Blush obviously it was Michael in the cell

Hassled · 17/04/2016 22:15

I don't actually think I can cope with any more tension - but this is so good. It's very well done - I care about the characters.

Blondeshavemorefun · 17/04/2016 22:23

recap e3

raisedbyguineapigs · 17/04/2016 22:38

blondes and notjanine didn't he say to himself when the boyfriend said 'she's mine' 'but I love her' ? so it must have been pretty early on that he fell for her. It doesn't quite fit that he seems to have carried on spying on her though. The witness being killed was awful. Quite distressing this week. The only thing that jarred slightly for me cwas the meeting in Oxford of Nick, the other female undercover and the friend. It would have made more sense for them all to have been somewhere local. What are the chances of both their kids getting into Oxford, and to the same college, yet not known, or even going up together?

Davros · 17/04/2016 22:40

Exactly! The Oxford thing seemed ridiculous. Also, it would be nice to have a female lead without some sort of "condition" (Marcella)

Sotaku · 18/04/2016 00:21

I've finally caught up on this and am really enjoying it. I also love Scandi thrillers and think this is on a par, particularly the last episode. When Nick first betrayed his colleague, it put me right off him. His further, ultimate betrayal of her means I now really dislike him as much as the people he's working for. He's a complete snake in the grass, regardless of him thinking that it would allow him to continue with his fake life forever.

I agree that the Oxford thing was a bit daft though. Script writers were a bit lazy there.

member · 18/04/2016 06:41

Watched episodes 2 & 3 back to back last night after being disappointed with episode 1. It's improving but I don't understand why they appointed Sophie as DPP , can anyone explain?

Obs2016 · 18/04/2016 07:16

Enjoyed it. Very tense. But agree the Oxford bit was very weak, and the killing of the witness, well that was obvious, even I saw that one coming.

Davros · 18/04/2016 07:43

I am confused by the DPP thing. Is she THE DPP or A DPP? If she is the one and only that is ridiculous, she could just pop off to the USA at the drop of a hat?! I don't like the USA component of the series but I really like the rest of it

MajesticWhine · 18/04/2016 09:44

I thought that too Davros. But I guess she did tell them she wouldn't give up on the death row case before taking the job. I am still enjoying it although it's very stressful. Suspension of disbelief definitely needed.

I'm enjoying it, but will carefully read the re-cap to fill me in on what I might have missed. Have we met the journalist friend before, because at first I thought she was the other undercover police officer? I also find it hard to decide whether it is 1996 or 2016 in some scenes.

The80sweregreat · 18/04/2016 11:12

eddie, another one confused by the years and what was happening where.
I thought that Sophie's friend and the journalist were different people at first too.
(Oxford halls look nice! )

Catvsworld · 18/04/2016 14:11

I thought he just should of told her the marriage would be over but at least he wouldn't be rubbing salt in the wind they are not just going to allow him to walk away from this

And the Scottish guy she clearly thinks he's fishy as she had his picture in her board

Davros · 18/04/2016 14:20

The way I work it out is that AL has hair in the flashbacks and he doesn't in the present. Which is ok if he is in the scene!

Sotaku · 18/04/2016 17:46

Yes, Davros, that's how I can tell too. He's got a little beard, etc to let us know it's the younger Nick or whatever his non-undercover name is. Other than tha, it is hard to tell since the other characters don't look distinctly different when they were younger.

FawnDrench · 18/04/2016 20:27

I thought it was ok last night but as others have mentioned, certainly had to suspend belief.

I mean how likely was it that the baddie killer Scottish man/politician's friend could get to the "informer" within 45 minutes and then have her jabbed in broad daylight in central London?

And then the husband to be so astounded when told she had been killed after he told them where the meet was!

How likely would it be that a brand new DPP would focus all resources at her disposal on a 20 year old murder and make this her first case?

Still, all this certainly makes it a gripping drama and I am enjoying it very much on the whole.

NotJanine · 19/04/2016 09:31

it was also rather convenient that the witness walked into a deserted area at the train station so that they could grab her and inject her.

squoosh · 19/04/2016 12:56

Maya's journalist friend is going to unravel it all isn't she? No doubt a photo of the dead woman will surface and recognising her she'll then start a proper investigative snoop.

Did we see julia earlier - maybe episode 1 - when maya was deciding whether to apply for the job as dpp? (I may be confused - watching a lot of tv at the moment!). I like the idea that she'll recognise the photo of abigail and start investigating..

eddiemairswife · 19/04/2016 16:16

Thankyou Rosie. I sometimes think I am losing my marbles when I can't follow plots, or hear what characters are saying, but it is reassuring to hear that others have the same problems.

Blondeshavemorefun · 19/04/2016 16:49

guineapig yes AL said that he loved her - but don't believe he did

Who would live their love uc for 20yrs

Plus nose ring /Abigail had to inject to prove her innocence in the gang - surely she would have told the police and they would have pulled her out - rather then risk that happening again - and then being an addict for 20yrs

Thought nick aka AL was stupid giving up nose ring uc police lady to this 'boss' surely he must have known that would get her killed

Then again SO was stupid to tell her hubby about the witness. Especially after said tell no one - tho again you would trust your hubby the writer who never writes

AL also looked very porky in the black swim suit thing he had on :(

Sure we saw BF Julia? In e1

She def doesn't like nick does she !!!!

Blondeshavemorefun · 19/04/2016 16:51

Years ago nick has b earing and SO bushy hair

Is always tied up in the present
