Anyone else think this looks good?

OP posts:
Davros · 16/05/2016 14:08

Quietattheback, I agree with what you said up thread:
Maya, who is set up to be this brilliant mind with a fierce heart ended up just being dazed and confused for the majority of the time and needed the Men to come in and sort it all out for her

FuckoffDM · 16/05/2016 14:12

Yes, I thought she was going to come up with something amazing in the final court scene - but it was all rather pathetic

CremeBrulee · 16/05/2016 15:12

Yes, I think it was so disappointing because there was a great cast, some really interesting ideas including an amazing female lead role but overall it was a poorly executed drama. Judicious editing of the story could have produced a really gripping 3 parter, there just wasn't enough substance to inflate it through 6 episodes.

"It was almost as if a very vital scene which explained everything had been missed out by the editing team."

I can only assume you're right on this, because I'm struggling to believe Lester and Okendo would have read the scripts and signed up to a load of bollocks. It wouldn't be the first time important things ended up on the cutting room floor, it's the reason I like watching 'deleted scenes' on DVDs, they're often quite illuminating!

woody56 · 16/05/2016 16:49

Pure unadulterated. Tripe
Good actors wasted on a completely non sensical ending.?

Davros · 16/05/2016 17:13

In the end they didn't really explore the affect on the woman of discovering she was married to an undercover copper. It was more about the silly conspiracy cases

Cocolepew · 16/05/2016 17:28

Another thing annoyed me. Maya was able, to walk away from work at the drop of a hat to go to America.
And always managed to get flights etc to be where she was needed no problem.

Behooven · 16/05/2016 18:02

And... If I came face to face with the person who just shot my son I wouldn't be having a quiet conversation with him about why he was out!

hollyisalovelyname · 16/05/2016 18:05

I missed the first 30 minutes last night. PLEASE TELL ME WHAT HAPPENED IN THOSE 30 MINUTES - i might then make some sense of the story.
Wails.
Why was Michael important ? I know he died / was killed. Apart from being the reason Maya rushed off to US at the drop of a hat.
If Rudi knew who killed the mayor why did he not tell ? Why was the mayor so important ?
Did he not whisper that he had done it to Maya when he was freed
What was he to do with Rudy ?
Who was the paedophile ?
When was that?
Was the writer on something ?
Was the commisioning editor on something when accepting the story for production?
So mean of the Beeb to put on a series with no denouement.
Rant over.

BitOutOfPractice · 16/05/2016 18:10

Instead of asking someone to type a whole 30 minutes of TV out laboriously holly, wouldn't it be easier and more satisfactory to watch it on iPlayer? Sorry if that sounds snippy but surely that's a better solution if you're that desperate

ChardonnayKnickertonSmythe · 16/05/2016 18:20

Holly, we don't know.
I strongly suspect the writers don't know the answers to your questions either.

CremeBrulee · 16/05/2016 18:33

Holly, read the other posts - none of those questions were answered in last nights episode. The first 30 mins were no more illuminating than the last.

Quietattheback · 16/05/2016 19:13

Holly - I promise that there was nothing in the first half hour that would shed any light on the second half hour, in fact I can't even really remember what happened as it was so clunky and disjointed.

ChardonnayKnickertonSmythe · 16/05/2016 19:18

There was some shagging.

hollyisalovelyname · 16/05/2016 19:19

BitOutIfPractice you may have missed my post where I wrote that I was not living in the UK and was unable to access the BBC iplayer.

Well that was all very strange. I don't think I am any the wiser, I had hoped you lot were going to enlighten me!

Optimist1 · 16/05/2016 22:32

That link took me to a trascript of Marcella, Rosie !

Blondeshavemorefun · 16/05/2016 23:52

Finally watched :)

Not sure why /how the Scottish man got out / is he really that big fish !!!!

My take on it - the Mayor was a paedophile or into drugs and sad going to
Blab - that's why MICHEAL killed him

He then got killed so he couldn't tell anyone

Shame on mummy a knowing he was a mule yet still questioning his death 🙄

Rudy was friends with MICHEAL. His friend betrayed him by allowing rudy to be the scapegoat

This is why rudy said he deserved to die - as he knew MICHEL killed the mayor / who he was being blamed for his death

So kinda justice that MICHEL was killed as he killed the mayor

Clever blondes 😇😇😇

Or am I totally wrong 😁😁

BitOutOfPractice · 17/05/2016 06:09

Holly. Yes I did. Look it up on Wikipedia then. There's an episode by episode guide.

hollyisalovelyname · 17/05/2016 07:35

Bitoutofpractise Wikipedia doesn't give a synopsis of episode 6 yet.

emotionsecho · 17/05/2016 10:30

I know dramas have to stretch credibility a bit to make things more dramatic but this series stretched it so far it could have gone twice around the moon.

Just nonsense - no-one in either the US Government or the UK Government would be that concerned about the death of a Mayor in Baton Rouge to undertake this level of conspiracy which would have to involve Government and Secret Services on both sides of the Atlantic and over such a long period of time. Ridiculous and disappointing.

hollyisalovelyname · 17/05/2016 12:35

Emotionsecho
Spot on.
