Omg I love that mint kitchen! Bit outwith my 100k budget. Maybe the ones on the show might come on the market...Grin

Davros · 18/02/2016 23:39

Gorgeous! The dining table and chairs do not go with the kitchen therefore, I'm out

Is it me, or are these kitchens beginning to follow a pattern? The GIDC kitchens are full of artfully arranged crap, and, in the slot immediately following, the 100k kitchens are full of....nothing.

I would like to see how Daniel & Sophie would interpret the client briefs; they seem quite contradictory in their critiques at times. Sophie either criticises for things being makey-do or shop bought and we also get remarks like listening to the home owner v going beyond the brief and pushing clients out of their comfort zone.

I saw the plant stand reappear in the junk van again ( don't quite understand how when it was used for a gin bar in wk 1) but not the Perspex table that appeared in the two previous challenges (again, that was cut up in week 1 so not sure how it reappeared in week 2 unless they are showing them in a different sequence to how they were filmed)

SheHasAWildHeart · 19/02/2016 09:49

I find the judges annoyingly contradictory and feel like I should mute the TV whenever they talk.

absolutelynotfabulous · 19/02/2016 10:16

The judges are annoying, yes. They don't seem to do a proper objective critique at all. And why do they have to actually SHOW the judges speaking; surely a voiceover would suffice.

ppeatfruit · 19/02/2016 11:24

A PP said that the judges are like 2 characters from Little Britain.I thought YES! They are caricatures of themselves! I notice that they don't say "A 'pop' of colour" Any more, thank god!!!!!

IMO they both forget that the rooms have to be LIVED in, the designers are amateurs and need a bit guidance.

ppeatfruit · 19/02/2016 11:26

I like the more measured tones of Tom, why can't he be a judge to bring some sanity to the programme? Grin

Cocolepew · 19/02/2016 13:30

Omg, that house is lovely. I love the kitchen.

OTheHugeManatee · 19/02/2016 13:43

I love the judges. I think they go the pub together at the end of a hard day tormenting amateur designers, where they drink Campari and soda and blister paint off the walls with their bitchiness.

ppeatfruit · 19/02/2016 17:32

Yes true, they're good for a laugh Grin OThe Huge It'll be interesting to see what the 'perfectionist' judges 'll be like.

SmaDizietSma · 19/02/2016 20:38

They don't take into account the plebian views of the homeowners into account. A lot haven't been my cup of tea but the brief has been met. James had some awful briefs.

SingSongSlummy · 20/02/2016 20:10

Only just caught up with this week's selection. Not me yet - if you thought that was orange, just wait.....

I'm not sure that the judges give any actual guidance to the contestants apart from the comments seen on screen! They do have to suffer the indignity of wearing the same clothes for the days in a row though. ..

OTheHugeManatee · 21/02/2016 07:21

Slummy - I wondered about their clothes too! I was thinking 'He's been wearing that t-shirt for days, doesn't it smell by now? But surely they have several changes of the same outfit, right? I can't imagine Bitchy Daniel agreeing to put the same stinky clothes back on for three days in a row Shock

iwouldgoouttonight · 21/02/2016 09:21

Are the judges actually there for the three days? I'd imagined they'd be there for the start and end and then just do all their pieces to camera and voiceovers at the end.

ppeatfruit · 21/02/2016 09:30

SmaDizie If not wishing to live in a dark green paint card or a museum area wanting to be comfortable in your home is plebeian give me plebby every time. Grin

SmaDizietSma · 21/02/2016 10:37

The judges don't know best. I get that the designer needs to push limits and maybe offer something that client isn't expecting. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder and whilst I haven't liked the rooms, I can appreciate that the owners have been delighted. The judges don't take this into account unless the opposite is true.

I don't generally like green but loved the dark green ceiling. I wouldn't put it with light green though.

ppeatfruit · 21/02/2016 12:47

Tom always mentions that the client is delighted with the room or not , I thought that that contributes to the judges' conclusions.

NaughtToThreeSadOnions · 22/02/2016 19:14

Totally tangoed orange Slummy?

OnePlanOnHouzz · 22/02/2016 19:19

Some of you might want to put some questions to the judge then ...

SingSongSlummy · 22/02/2016 19:21

That's still not orange enough Naught !

GrouchyKiwi · 22/02/2016 19:22

I was wondering the same, Onions.

Thanks for the link.

bookishandblondish · 22/02/2016 19:25

Is orange in then? There's at least three that have been orangey.

GrouchyKiwi · 22/02/2016 19:28

Huh. A flat-pack stool for the upcycle challenge. They are getting creative.

GrouchyKiwi · 22/02/2016 19:40

"If I were an 8 year old I think I'd flip my bonce looking at that". This is a positive thing, yes?
