Only time

Travelledtheworld · 21/02/2016 08:09

Yeah that Jackie and Howard relationship is funny and they are both obnoxious but lonely and suit each other.

apologies for delayed comment but does anyone know why Eli tipped off the judge? I can't see what Eli has to gain from that. May be being stupid. (still have jet lag!)

wickedwaterwitch · 21/02/2016 12:30

Lorelei, didn't he say something like 'I need you to help with Frank Landau' ?

So I think he tipped him off so the judge owed him

wickedwaterwitch · 21/02/2016 12:32

Yes, it's at the bottom here

Thanks wicked, makes sense now.

colouringinagain · 21/02/2016 19:55

Thanks lorelei its all the complexity around Alicia's election, votes (alleged?) corruption etc...

lorelei9 · 21/02/2016 22:21

okay, this won't be a brilliant explanation but here goes

rumours abound of voter fraud in the election - there's an issue with "calibration drift" - you press the button for the candidate you want, but just as your ipad often selects the wrong thing, it selects the wrong candidate.

Naturally Alicia agrees to have this investigated because she doesn't want to have, or be seen to have, won the election unfairly.

as investigations take place - remember the lawyer she was so pleased to have on her side for that? - it becomes clear that the machines may have been tampered with for other reasons. Possible scenarios include that Peter's election may have been fraudulent. Peter says that he hired Ernie Nolan to look after the machines - Ernie Nolan was the guy who, in early days, tried to bribe Alicia. Of course Peter wants to be sure his hands are clean.

As investigations go on, it becomes clear that machines were rigged in a different election and the party needs Alicia to back out of clearing her own name in case the other dirt is exposed; it would threaten the Party's majority.

My feeling - and some other posters - is that Peter knew about this all along.

I'm still unclear about whether Alicia was put in to run as a way to deflect from all this or if her being caught up in it was simply an accident. The latter seems possible because the Party might have considered having both Florricks in high office as a political dream team.

I've watched episode 12 of series 7 tonight, still loving it. Her wig is AWFUL
though.

I am really looking forward to Eli getting his revenge on Peter and Frank Landau (not a spoiler, nothing in this ep about that!)

lorelei9 · 21/02/2016 22:50

episode 12 - are you in the US?

I thought her wig was better in ep 4. I think it was done a bit mad on purpose to go with the change in her circumstances, but this week it looked more like usual.

wickedwaterwitch · 21/02/2016 22:51

Oh thanks for that explanation lorelei, I get that now. The lawyer she hired was a very creepy boss in Alias a long time ago. Ah, so it wasn't to do with Alicia then really? It was about maybe exposing Peter?

wickedwaterwitch · 21/02/2016 22:52

No, in uk, Dh sorts it, no idea how though! Some streaming site I think.

wickedwaterwitch · 21/02/2016 22:53

So I think up to episode 13 have been aired in the US, I've only got 13 left to watch

wickedwaterwitch · 21/02/2016 22:54

Episode 13 I mean, not 13 episodes left, I wish!

lorelei9 · 21/02/2016 23:13

wicked "It was about maybe exposing Peter?"

you mean whoever exposed the fraud? I'm still not clear how it happened - I think that voters reported problems with calibration drift and it went from there...? But I'm not 100% sure.

I'm a bit confused now because no one in the party would want Peter's fraud exposed - in fact I remember thinking that when the lawyer went down that route. Unless it was a total bluff to get Alicia to back down.

Lweji · 21/02/2016 23:16

I've watched episode 7 last week. Elsewhere in Europe and marking place. I'll be careful with spoilers.

HalleLouja · 23/02/2016 21:44

I quite liked Canning in this week's episode. Diane knew all his tricks though.

Lucca is fab. Though why Alicia hasn't shagged the investigator is the biggest mystery even more so than those voting scandals. Eli just makes me laugh. He needs his own spin off. That would have me watching.

MargotLovedTom · 23/02/2016 21:56

I loved the way Diane kept foiling his attention seeking little episodes. Diane for President! Wink

Re all the voting scandal - didn't the expert say the chip was an old one thus linking it with Peter's election; then he came back and said the chip could be remotely updated which put suspicion back onto Alicia? Was that all rigged then?

colouringinagain · 25/02/2016 21:37

Thanks so much Lorelei I'd forgotten more than I realised!

Def unclear re those machines re Peter and Alicia's elections though!

ILikeToClean · 26/02/2016 14:39

Just caught up on last night's. I think Jason (aka Denny) should have his own spin off show!

RomComPhooey · 26/02/2016 18:52

He is getting sexier with age. Or perhaps I'm getting older & comparing him with my peers.

TensionWheelsCoolHeels · 26/02/2016 19:58

He's got a fabulous twinkle in his eye. WinkGrin

lorelei9 · 27/02/2016 19:07

that guy does nothing for me...I've not seen him before either. His voice is so low I'm surprised I can hear it!!

I'm already wondering if Alicia deliberately hired a wrong un for some reason - I mean it was obvious with his hand injury (at interview) that he'd beaten someone up.

or did she just hire him because she fancied him - and she did hire the other woman first.

I liked Kalinda a lot but I don't recall her actually being violent to anyone to sort stuff out? (I mean in the course of her work, not counting her ex-husband).

Marissa makes me giggle.

lorelei9 · 27/02/2016 19:07

oh, Howard totally planted that stuff in his own office, right?

Lweji · 27/02/2016 19:09

Yes, he did.

Alicia doesn't know if he's a wrong one. He was simply more competent.
