So excited. It seems to have been a long time !

OP posts:

Also wonder what happened to Robin

Josh - I loved him in Six Degrees but I seem to be the only English person to have watched it!!

I know he was in Masters of Sex....was that on More4?

I've never seen Matt Czruvhy in anything else. I thought he did a great job in the previous series, especially when he had to shout "guard" in that prison scene. shudders

KittyOShea · 07/02/2016 10:31

I have to admit I don't care about Robin now I see her replacement. Phwoar! Apparently he is coming into The Walking Dead too so double perving opportunities for me Grin

Really enjoyed this episode. Lots of courtroom, Eli up to shenanigans and eye candy- what more can you ask for?!

Will really miss this show when it ends.

Eli is one of the best characters on TV, isn't he? Morally repugnant in some ways, but admirable in others, even if you sometimes admire him grudgingly. Clever, witty, and a loyal, fierce friend.

I like the new investigator and his chemistry with Alicia. It's about time she had some good sex so I hope they get to it sooner rather than later Grin

The thing with Cary and the male colleague trying to make a pass will come back to bite Cary on the arse in some way.

I like Ruth and think she'll be a bit of another Eli; someone you have rather mixed feelings about but in a good way.

Lucca's interesting. Hope she turns into a good mate for Alicia. Is the actor British? I'm sure I recognise her name as a Brit, but her accent is pretty solid, much more so than Kalinda's or Finn's.

I still love Diane but wish/hope she and Alicia reconcile; I like it when they're friends and laughing together.

Loved David's line when Howard said 'It's Cary or me': 'Did he just issue the easiest ultimatum in history?' Grin Grin

lorelei9 · 08/02/2016 14:04

That was a great line.

Eli is now going to use Alicia to rip Peter to shreds, is that what others think?

Possible twist, Cary leaves and tells them to keep Howard! If nothing else, he's a handy person to get to vote as they wish on boards etc.

RomComPhooey · 08/02/2016 21:16

Eli is using Alicia, but she knows it & doesn't seem to mind.

wickedwaterwitch · 08/02/2016 22:45

I'd quite like to see Peter ripped to shreds
Especially after he shagged Alicia's ex friend (the one from where they used to live)

RomComPhooey · 09/02/2016 00:09

Perhaps that's the coda to The Good Wife. The whole thing started with her starting at the bottom and working her way up after he went to jail. Now she's working her way back from the bottom after getting royally screwed over and discredited by Peter's political allies. They say revenge is a dish best served cold. I think perhaps Alicia's best revenge is to torpedo Peter's VP ambitions by not playing ball. Not such a good wife after all...

RomComPhooey · 09/02/2016 00:14

In short, Eli & Alicia have both had their loyalty to Peter thrown back in their faces. They are basically on the same side (out to get Peter).

lorelei9 · 09/02/2016 10:14

Yes that's what I thought, Alicia will go along with the VP thing because she wants to torpedo it.

I don't feel as if Alicia knows, yet, that Peter was in on her campaign going wrong. Or did I miss something?

Pooseyfrumpture · 09/02/2016 11:19

This is the last series, yes? So wouldn't it be nice if Peter finally got what was coming to him.

TensionWheelsCoolHeels · 09/02/2016 11:51

I'm sure Eli knows Peter scuppered Alicia's election & the 'apology' to the party bloke is the 1st step towards Alicia's 'enlightenment'. I don't think Peter really fully grasped Eli's qualities/skill set, as he was only ever interested in winning, at any cost. The fact he thinks he can ditch Eli with no real repercussions I think shows he may not see Eli's scheme until it's far too late. I hope so anyway. Peter getting his comeuppance has to be the end game for the series. With Alicia/Eli getting their karma too.

wickedwaterwitch · 09/02/2016 13:31

Ooh I hope you're all right!

lorelei9 · 09/02/2016 13:36

I'm sure Eli knows
But I thought that Alicia really didn't know
If she doesn't then why would she want to scupper the VP thing?
And if she's that pissed off about whatsername then she could have divorced him after the campaign

flatmouse · 09/02/2016 13:37

Thank you! Was racking my brains to figure out where i had seen that PI before - Denny!! of course!! Loving Grace - would like to see her making more of a role for herself. (Alicia's son can stay away). Thought in the 2nd episode Lucca (? the bailcourt buddy) was a bit disparaging towards Alicia - almost like she didn't respect her knowledge/background in law.

TensionWheelsCoolHeels · 09/02/2016 15:54

Alicia doesn't know, but if she's being 'rehabilitated' by Eli & getting back in the political fold to serve Peter's interests then I suspect the revelation she'll have when she does find out (and I'm sure Eli will make that happen in an oh so subtle way so that he escapes any fall out) will spark an almighty reaction - I don't think Alicia wants to scupper Peter's bid yet, but I suspect age will once Eli has worked his magic. Eli will know exactly how to harness Alicia's rage in just the right way, to maximise the fall out for Peter. At least I really hope so, cos I love the idea that Peter will get his comeuppance & Eli will be the architect while pulling Alicia's strings.

I may just be making this up in my own head but that's what I'd like to see happenGrin

lorelei9 · 09/02/2016 19:03

Tension, that's why I'm struggling to see the Eli thing as complicit, which I think is what some posters think. I think Alicia doesn't know she's being used as a pawn to bring down Peter.

Also, from the way she was with him over the scandal, I think she can't know he stitched her up. Nor do I think she wants revenge for Ramona Lytton.

I think she'd like for Peter not to succeed for a host of reasons but I don't think it's actual positive planning.

RomComPhooey · 09/02/2016 19:42

I think Alicia doesn't know she's being used as a pawn to bring down Peter.

She actually said last week she knew she was being used (iirc, on the phone to Peter when he said Eli was using her & he wanted her to drop Eli) but she didn't mind & wasn't changind advisors. She knows the score - in so far as Eli is using her to hurt Peter, at the very least.

lorelei9 · 09/02/2016 21:56

So in what way does Peter think Eli is using Alicia? To bring him down? Wouldn't he be more worked up about that?

TensionWheelsCoolHeels · 09/02/2016 22:49

I think Peter sees it as a minor irritation, that Eli trying to cause problems won't be an issue because his new campaign manager is far superior and would handle anything thrown at him. I think he genuinely doesn't think Eli is capable of causing more than small ripples that are easily smoothed out by new campaign manager. A bit all bark, no bite. Maybe it's his ego, or tunnel vision focus in getting that VP nomination. I don't think he'll see either Eli or Alicia coming. At least I hope so!

lorelei9 · 09/02/2016 23:05

When Alicia and Peter had that conversation about Eli, I got the feeling that he thought he'd rather not piss Alicia off because he needs her on side to look good, so let the Eli thing go for that.

but if Eli knows about the election fraud, Peter wouldn't have let him go.

Now, looking back on it, the way it all panned out, it is amazing that Alicia didn't twig. I wonder if that guy to whom she apologised will let something slip, thinking she must know by now...!

I won't get to see the next two weeks as I'll be in the US but I'm actually thinking if I get a chance to see it there, I might, even though it will be far ahead.

TensionWheelsCoolHeels · 09/02/2016 23:30

I am a bit vague on the details of how it all unraveled so I'll agree with your theory Grin I also agree that party bloke she apologised to is the key to her twigging over what's gone on. And the fact Eli arranged that/ had the idea suggests to me that he's a far better political operator than Peter gives him credit for (hence ditching him in the 1st place). Peter will rue the day he crossed Eli (and Alicia) Wink

lorelei9 · 10/02/2016 14:14

Just watching again while I pack
Peter said he was planning to offer Eli a different job but that was after Eli's outburst.
I actually thought he was going to throw that smoothie at Peter!

fiftyval · 10/02/2016 14:58

To the public who wondered about the actress playing Lucca - she is British and been a detective in ' Vera'.
I hope the Eli/Alicia alliance brings down Peters campaign and that the new investigator is part of that too but especially, that they bring down that corrupt, smug politico to whom Alicia 'apologised'

lorelei9 · 10/02/2016 16:12

Having watched it again, I feel like both Peter and Alicia will seem too toxic for the public and that Peter is the most unlikely candidate.

It would be nice to see Frank Prady again, thought that was a fascinating character.

fiftyval · 10/02/2016 20:53

Damn auto correct on phone - that should say pp not public
