And on we dance ...

That Falling Slowly song was all over the radio here, I don't know if the singers are Irish (the video that I've seen on YouTube was filmed around the Grafton Street and George's Arcade area). Perhaps it didn't get as much play in the UK. It's very pretty and sad and would be a good dreamy, tragic rumba rather than a raunchy, sexy one.

Costacoffeeplease · 01/12/2015 19:50

I'm not in the uk, but I do see uk tv channels

I thought I had typed "all over the radio here in Ireland", but I hadn't.

digerd · 01/12/2015 20:00

Karen Hardy agreed that it was Peter's time to go.

K&K said they were 3rd from the top of the leaderboard but in the Quickstep-a-thon they came 2nd from the bottom, despite having been given 9s & 10s for their quickstep during the series. So they were quite shocked and realised that would put them down the bottom of the leaderboard and into the DO again.

So Jay was judged better than Kevin in the quickstep-a -thon.

And having Oompapa next week to dance the Viennese walzt to is ShockAngry. poor KellySad

HeartsTrumpDiamonds · 01/12/2015 20:07

Jay was born when I was halfway through uni.

Strictlyobsessed · 01/12/2015 20:19

No one ever seems to get good marks in the rumba hope Jay is the first it's a funny dance to shine in especially for the celebs but fingers crossed. Harry whatshisface from a boy band was the same lack of emotion in all his dances , he also danced with Aliona (I'm not blaming her!) but he really only showed some emotion in the last few dances yet I don't remember the judges even commenting on it. Agree that Anita really has been on a "journey" the most and she was lucky to get Gleb she literally hero worships him you can see it in her face I think its because she realises he has made her into a dancer lucky lady !

HeartsTrumpDiamonds · 01/12/2015 20:25

Anita is fierce. I loved her dance when she was dressed up as Maleficent (was that the paso doble?) and also the Argentine Tango I think it was? Her characterisation or whatever you call it is just unreal. So good. Love it.

GruntledOne · 01/12/2015 20:36

Someone in the music department's keen on Bob Fosse, aren't they? That's the second song they've had from Chicago, plus one from Cabaret. Suits me, I love that sort of music and dance style too.

GruntledOne · 01/12/2015 20:39

I don't think the judges give Anita enough credit for how far she's come from a non-dancing start.

Is it three or four people in the final? If it's only three it will be quite difficult as I would say that Georgia, Jay and Anita deserve to be there and the judges will certainly want Helen to be there also. But I fear that if she's up against Jan or Anita in a DO the judges would save Helen, unless she has a bad week.

One of my favourite musical films was choreographed and directed by Bob Fosse in 1979 on film and called All That Jazz with Roy Schneider and Jessica Lange.

The choreography was innovative for that time and eye-brow raising but also brilliantly danced.
Just looked at video clips of it on google/youtube and it stills mesmerises meSmile.

Looking forward to seeing the SCD IT2 training clips this week.

MovemberSucks · 01/12/2015 21:30

I am saddened that nobody is doing a number from my favourite musical, 7 Brides for 7 Brothers. Sad

digerd · 01/12/2015 21:59

Ah yes - 1959? My first favourite. Now what a fine figure of a man Howard Keel was and that voice. And those dancing brothers of his. I think I had a crush on him.
Then there was George Chakiris in West Side Story - full of super technique and style. And he could act too..

Think a pro dance of America would bring the house down - they don't need to do the singing bit.

GlitteryRollers · 01/12/2015 22:15

I really hope we lose smug Katie and Anton this week. Alas I fear it will be either one of Kellie or Helen.

MrsJamin · 02/12/2015 07:43

I'm not sure Helen is likely to go now, is she? I guess Pixie Lott went possibly even earlier as she didn't have public support. Doesn't anyone else think Katie smiles in a weird way, like she knows she needs to crease up her eyes to look like she is authentically smiling?

GlitteryRollers · 02/12/2015 08:00

Yes, I can't be doing with Katie either, she's very insincere.

SoupDragon · 02/12/2015 08:25

Based on ability, it should be Katie next.

SheHasAWildHeart · 02/12/2015 09:17

Because it's the judges who have the deciding vote it's hard to fathom what they will do. For example they love Helen so I think they would save her over most of the others. They've always been a bit funny with Anita (and Gleb) so I think if it was Anita in DO with any of the others (bar Katie) they would send Anita home.

Fiderer · 02/12/2015 09:33

I've just been reading The Mighty Monkseal & now I can't think of Jay without thinking he looks "like an angry thumb" Grin

spontaneity is dead and its mausoleum is Peter Andre GrinGrinGrin

Thanks for reminding me Fiderer!

ppeatfruit · 02/12/2015 10:38

Annarose Sadly I don't reckon that Katie is the only one making the mistakes in her partnership. Anton was hauling her about like a sack of potatoes in one of their Latin dances. Either she's too heavy for him or she didn't 'prepare' herself correctly for the lifts by jumping into them I couldn't work out which one it was , he also maybe didn't teach her properly (or it could've been all those I suppose). Xmas Grin Ooooh my first FC grin !!

digerd · 02/12/2015 11:31

ppeat

That had occurred to me too as Anton seemed to "hurl her about" and it was then that she kept losing her balance.
But the Foxtrot should be their best dance - I hope so, even if they leave this week. Are lifts allowed in the foxtrot?

And I think it was Anita at the beginning who was lifted like a dead floppy weight - which of course the magnificent Gleb coped with admirably.

HeartsTrumpDiamonds · 02/12/2015 11:41

I like Katie. I would rather see Kellie go home. Although I do agree that technically Kellie is the better dancer.

So there you go. Popularity. Grin

digerd · 02/12/2015 11:55

Karen Hardy also said the Georgia was undermarked on her Paso.
