Following on from the first thread (we were getting a bit short on space!).

Pastry week next - it's time for the dreaded soggy bottoms!

OP posts:

I can't believe that Paul didn't interrupt to educate Mary on Ras el Hanout.
Game? ROADKILL?

Not great for this sweet-toothed veggie.

GrouchyKiwi · 16/09/2015 20:12

I love how worried they are about Flora's pie. It's very sweet.

TheSpottedZebra · 16/09/2015 20:13

I think that Flora will be good at this, as will the roadkill-loving Buddhist. They're both quite trade aren't they?

Is Nadiya halal? She seems to eat gelatine?

NoelHeadbands · 16/09/2015 20:14

Man I love me a pie.

squoosh · 16/09/2015 20:14

Victorian pies that were sold on the street were notorious for being adulterated with rat poison and mortar and all sorts.

Rat poison would be authentic.

GrouchyKiwi · 16/09/2015 20:15

"They're both quite trade." Grin

I think you can get synthetic gelatine?

NoelHeadbands · 16/09/2015 20:15

Those antlers looked like labia majora

FuzzyWizard · 16/09/2015 20:16

You can also get beef gelatine

GrouchyKiwi · 16/09/2015 20:16

Tamal's looks beautiful.

squoosh · 16/09/2015 20:16

Someone give me some goddamn pie.

TheSpottedZebra · 16/09/2015 20:18

Quite trade? Shock The are most certainly not that. Trad. They're traditional.

You can get seaweedy gelatine, but it's not great in a raised pie. Yup, I have tried. Pork pie is the only thing I miss. But she specifically mentioned gelatine rather than gelling agent.

I'm not criticising her, just to be clear -she can obvs cook or eat what on earth she so likes.Grin

TheSpottedZebra · 16/09/2015 20:19

S ' true, she could have sourced non-porcine gelatine.

I have never written gelatine so much in so little time.

FuzzyWizard · 16/09/2015 20:19

But beef is halal right? Most gelatin is beef based right?

squoosh · 16/09/2015 20:20

Describing someone as being 'very trade' is a great Victorian putdown though! Very much in the theme.

FuzzyWizard · 16/09/2015 20:20

Too many "right?s" Blush

TheSpottedZebra · 16/09/2015 20:20

Most gelatine is piggy.

squoosh · 16/09/2015 20:21

She used booze in one her bakes so I think she mustn't be too strict.

TheSpottedZebra · 16/09/2015 20:21

Yes. I have picked the 2 poshest on the prog and dismissed them as trade. Grin

Cos I'm dead posher, me.

squoosh · 16/09/2015 20:22

God that cake looks so very unappealing.

GrouchyKiwi · 16/09/2015 20:22

That's why I was so amused, squoosh.

I do love a good fruit cake. Fuck off with all the tennis malarkey, though.

TheSpottedZebra · 16/09/2015 20:23

Ah did she re booze, I'd not noticed. I noticed the gelatine though. And I can't seem to stop typing that word.

That tennis cake is a horror. Tennis is unseemly, all that dashing about.

GrouchyKiwi · 16/09/2015 20:23

And the apricots. You can keep them too. Revolting things.

Westielove · 16/09/2015 20:23

I know I'm a bit late with this but Paul's face when Ian said road kill pie was hilarious Grin

squoosh · 16/09/2015 20:24

Tennis makes one sweat and sweating is so frightfully working class.

Tut.

TheSpottedZebra · 16/09/2015 20:25

Lawn tennis is also trade. I prefer real tennis.

Tomorrow, I aim to dismiss something as trade IRL.
