Following on from the first thread (we were getting a bit short on space!).

Pastry week next - it's time for the dreaded soggy bottoms!

OP posts:

That was my aunts vol au vent speciality was was delicious sometimes she would make it a bit exotic and stick some curry powder and raisins in it Grin

InimitableJeeves · 12/09/2015 09:16

Marcus Wareing on Extra Slice. Phwoarr.

That is all.

ppeatfruit · 12/09/2015 10:16

Agree double Inimitable Grin

I'm reading a book by Marian Keyes atm she's a carb freak! I liked that she thought Nadiya is the best.

CakeNinja · 12/09/2015 10:31

inimitable Shock at the Marcus love, he looks a right mess Envy

ppeatfruit · 12/09/2015 10:34

Blimey I wish my dh looked a mess like MW!!!!

LemonRedwood · 12/09/2015 10:46

Marcus Wareing is generally lovely. I think he realised he'd sounded a bit harsh when he asked Alvin why he didn't "do that on the night" and he then went overboard with the praise!

I loved Marian Keyes' face when Ian mentioned his guinea fowl eggs! She's not a fan, is she? Grin

CakeNinja · 12/09/2015 12:23

ppeat really?
I think he's really haggard and tramping looking!
Different strokes for different folk as they say Smile

CakeNinja · 12/09/2015 12:23

*Trampy

squoosh · 12/09/2015 21:36

I'd like the record to show that I have staked a claim to Marcus Wareing on many a Masterchef thread. The rest of you can kindly keep your mitts off!

ppeatfruit · 13/09/2015 17:38

Yes really CakeNinja His toned body shows through his chef's whites (I'm talking his pecs and abs. of course Grin) he has lovely dark eyelashes and blue eyes. He has hair !!!

Squoosh there's room for many mitts, he's tall too !!!!!!

CakeNinja · 14/09/2015 08:16

Intriguing....
I think maybe he's just a lot older (looking) than he is. He looks a lot older than me!
He looks quite effeminate (sp? That looks all wrong) to me, not strong and manly how I like my men to look Grin

I'd just like to add that I am settled and in a relationship (with a rugged manly looking man) and am in no way a contender for MW so I'll leave you to scrap it out for him Grin

ppeatfruit · 14/09/2015 09:44

I'm also in an effing 40 yr long Shock settled relationship with dh but there's no harm fantasising is there?

I quite like a man who's in touch with his feminine side actually (in looks and personality!).

LatinForTelly · 14/09/2015 13:37

Just caught up as I couldn't watch Bake-off last week.

Sad Alvin! It was time, probably, for him to go. But he seems like such a thoroughly good person. And one who could do with a bit of a confidence boost.

The guests on extra slice were nice to them though, weren't they? I liked what Marian said to him at the end.

Tamal was a bit off-form this week. Pleased for Matt though. (Also, I can now tell Matt and Ian apart. Hurrah.)

ppeatfruit · 14/09/2015 13:56

I'm glad someone else gets confused between Matt and Ian Latin Grin

Trills · 15/09/2015 17:46

Alvin was NICE, but I found him a bit irritating and wet.

(I am not nice)

CharlotteCollins · 15/09/2015 21:17

I found myself wondering what his relationship with his father the general was like...

SeaRabbit · 16/09/2015 05:25

Me too Charlotte

Sansoora · 16/09/2015 06:11

I found myself wondering what his relationship with his father the general was like...

I was thinking cultural rather than anything to do with his father.

ppeatfruit · 16/09/2015 10:36

To change the subject IT'S TONIGHT!!!!! I hope I can remember the ingredients that Nadiya ,the wonderwoman, uses they make my mouth water Grin

mazylou · 16/09/2015 11:03

I think definitely cultural. I bet he called his father Sir (having said that, we all used to call MazyDad Sir when we came home from boarding school for at least a week of the holidays).

PIE! TONIGHT!!!

CakeNinja · 16/09/2015 11:27

Anyone else feeling a bit disappointed (in advance!) about tonight? Victorian cookery doesn't excite me much.
I will obviously still be watching, just not feeling very enthusiastic.

LatinForTelly · 16/09/2015 12:00

I agree, Cake, will it be all mace and borage I wonder? Ian will love that.

(And I wondered too, about Alvin's pa. [overinvested])

LatinForTelly · 16/09/2015 12:01

Too many wonders, sorry.

ppeatfruit · 16/09/2015 12:14

I'd forgotten it's Victorian cooking. That's a vast subject from the enormous tiered cakes for the aristos to the pikelets etc. baked on a firestone by the working class because a lot of people didn't have ovens then Grin

It'll be interesting Grin

eddiemairswife · 16/09/2015 12:46
