Following on from the first thread (we were getting a bit short on space!).

Pastry week next - it's time for the dreaded soggy bottoms!

OP posts:
GrouchyKiwi · 22/09/2015 15:43

Martha was 16 or 17 during the show. She was doing her A levels.

CakeNinja · 22/09/2015 17:13

I think Martha was still the youngest?

Ppeat maybe, but she had planned it that way and is no way the first to ignore the judges advice - they themselves often admit to being surprised when something a baker makes that they don't think will be good is delicious.
Some people really like that crunchy texture in their food (not me though, and sneaking nuts in food is an absolute no no for me for this reason!).

ppeatfruit · 22/09/2015 17:37

Cake But she could've just gone with the raspberries, they were traditional and it was a Victorian theme. She's done other weird mixes too IIRC.

5Foot5 · 23/09/2015 13:36

Also posting this in Baking as it is relevant.

Does anyone have the book that goes with this series of Great British Bake-Off? If so have you read or tried the recipe for Orange, rosemary and almond biscotti?

I have read it three times now and, unless I am being exceptionally stupid, I think they have made a mistake. Could I have an opinion from someone else with the book before I try to make it myself.

ppeatfruit · 23/09/2015 14:20

No sorry 5Foot5 is there a way to get the recipes on google or somewhere? Someone will know Grin

eddiemairswife · 23/09/2015 14:22

Have you looked up the recipe online? They have Ian's recipe there.

toldmywrath · 23/09/2015 19:26

GrouchyKiwi " Martha was 16 or 17 during the show. She was doing her A levels. " -are you sure about this? I don't think it was mentioned much Grin

toldmywrath · 23/09/2015 19:26

5foot5 -are you able to post a screenshot of the relevant page & we might be able to help with your recipe dilemma.

Roussette · 23/09/2015 19:57

Off we go shortly, can't remember what tonight's theme is...

TheSpottedZebra · 23/09/2015 19:59

C'est patissière

TheSpottedZebra · 23/09/2015 20:00

Patisserie! Bad autocorrect.

Roussette · 23/09/2015 20:02

oooh I love this round!

ARockNRollNerd · 23/09/2015 20:03

Flora or PP to go tonight, I feel.

TheSpottedZebra · 23/09/2015 20:05

Ahh, lovely Mel looks lovely tonight. I like her hair.

Roussette · 23/09/2015 20:05

I remember making cream horns in Domestic science lessons in school! they were rubbish

TheSpottedZebra · 23/09/2015 20:05

Ian's a bit smug now, isn't he?

Baconyum · 23/09/2015 20:06

Would you really make a cream horn with ruff puff pastry? I'd have thought flaky best?

Baconyum · 23/09/2015 20:06

Well the bakers clearly disagree with me

florentina1 · 23/09/2015 20:10

I would have thought flaky might be a bit fragile. It would in my hands as I grab it before eating it.

CrotchetQuaverMinim · 23/09/2015 20:10

Flora's going for her very prettily decorated thing again. Hope it works for her this time. She seems to forget the basics in favour of the decoration at times.

The judges are in a good mood so far, being nice to most of them. Specially Nadiya. But also PP.

Ian is being a bit smug, but also he is probably right about his abilities, as he is quite good on the whole

LemonRedwood · 23/09/2015 20:14

I love Sue telling Flora to leave the effing tuiles alone (I'm paraphrasing)

Didn't she get in trouble for adding extras before?

Roussette · 23/09/2015 20:15

Yes Flora gets a bit sidetracked with frippery!

Supercosmicrays · 23/09/2015 20:16

My prediction for what it's worth
Paul out this week
Flora out next week
Nadiya to storm it in the final

LemonRedwood · 23/09/2015 20:16

I could really murder a cream horn right now. We have absolutely nothing sweet in the house at the moment :(

Baconyum · 23/09/2015 20:16

Ooh nooooo she's made a right mess of it!
