Ah here you are. I'm making biscotti today.

I wish Paul had been kinder with Marie's banter.

ppeatfruit · 13/08/2015 10:40

Yes Hypotenuse It was as if he didn't want to lower himself to join in, Mel and\or Sue would have reacted very differently

Roussette · 13/08/2015 11:54

Marie was funny and PH was wooden and humourless, the whole show relies on banter but only when it suits PH it seems!

She didn't have a great 3 rounds but whatshisname never even managed to build a box! Surely in the showstopper challenge that is a big no no.

But whatsisname did well in the previous rounds, and what he baked apparently tasted good whereas Marie's was a bit meh.

SqueezyCheeseWeasel · 13/08/2015 13:35

Hollywood is way too far up his own chuff

emotionsecho · 13/08/2015 15:57

Just caught up agree PH was/is utterly humourless he is taking the 'bad cop' persona a bit too far.

Nadiya is my favourite, I love her attitude I could have cried when her biscuit box thingies collapsed and then Sue broke the second one, but she was so calm and just carried on regardless. I really hope she goes the distance.

I couldn't work out where the baby was on Ugne's creation, it was all a bit psychedelic with that big yellow blob thing on the side (was that the baby?).

Fishwives · 13/08/2015 16:05

Did I hallucinate this, or did I see that Ole Blue Eyes is the subject of a Who Do You Think You Are? Maybe he comes of a long lineage of somewhat self-important, portly bakers who use their Hard Stare to remind nervous women they're Not Easily Impressed?

I did feel for Marie. It was nervous babble, but pretty funny with it, and PH wasn't going to play along and make her feel marginally better for even a second...

squoosh · 13/08/2015 16:11

I love Nadiya too, definitely my favourite so far. And without wanting to sound patronising or anything I think it's great to see a Muslim woman on TV who's being funny and irreverant and having a great time.

Might help shift some people's perceptions.

But I like her best of all for her black forest gateau!

squoosh · 13/08/2015 16:12

Oh I'd love if PH had 'portly baker' on his business card! Grin

OeufieTheEggaphant · 13/08/2015 16:43

I was cringing at Paul and Marie - he couldn't even crack a smile! So up himself.

I love Nadiya, quite like the fire engine guy too. Don't know half their names yet!

emotionsecho · 13/08/2015 18:08

So far Nadiya's food is the food I would really like to eat and she's the one I would most like to have as a friend! I know what you're trying to say squoosh sadly I think the people's whose perspectives need shifting don't watch GBBO.

Roussette · 13/08/2015 19:03

I couldn't see a baby on Ugne's either, as you say just a yellow blob, WTF was all that about?! It just all looked messy to me!

Looking forward to Bread next week, I love bread in any shape or form so it will be one of my fave episodes.

HoneyDragon · 13/08/2015 19:06

I've been singing portly baker this afternoon to the tune of Tiny Dancer. And I don't want to hold portly bakers closer, but at all Confused

Supercosmicrays · 13/08/2015 19:15

Yes you could go round if you were having a bad day and she would cheer you up with tea and sympathy and Madeira cake Brew Cake

Supercosmicrays · 13/08/2015 19:16

Nadiya I mean

TheDietStartsTomorrow · 14/08/2015 00:20

Nadiya is my favourite too. Along with the fire engine guy and Sandy.

TheDietStartsTomorrow · 14/08/2015 00:22

If Alvin hadn't iced the borders on the components of his box first they would have been ready for him to put together and he would have a box to present.

SheHasAWildHeart · 14/08/2015 09:19

I thought the firefighter did a great job on the showstopper for only a second episode and should have got star baker.
Love Nadiya - bet the DM aren't very happy though!

ppeatfruit · 14/08/2015 10:35

I like Nadiya a lot, she's pretty, sensible and sweet natured (so sweet when she was comforting Dorret) in the first ep.. I hope she wins.

Eff the DM!!!! SheHasA

WienerDiva · 14/08/2015 17:12

I've just caught up with this week's. I really like Marie, shame she went. LOVE Nadyia, she comes across as such a love.

I haven't read the full thread so please forgive me, but, are they being a bit mean about Doret's frog biscuits?

emotionsecho · 14/08/2015 17:24

Wiener I think it was the using of a bought frog cut-out thing - oh the horror! Also, I don't think the colour of them and the taste came up to the mark, personally I think they were a bit mean.

I think we need to start the Nadiya fan club!

Icimoi · 14/08/2015 18:00

Did anyone watch all of Who Do You Think You Are? After they spent 40 minutes on his grandfather I deduced they hadn't discovered any more exciting ancestors and let DH turn over to something he wanted to watch.

squoosh · 14/08/2015 18:01

Yeah it was pretty dull.

I saw Gareth Malone in the opening credits though and thought 'who is that late middle aged woman?'.

emotionsecho · 14/08/2015 18:06

I've downloaded it to watch sounds like I don't need to bother!

Fauchelevent · 14/08/2015 18:09

Nadiya's such a cutie patootie. My heart is always in my throat every second I see Dorret! She's beautiful and adorable but her nervousness makes me nervous on her behalf.

Also LOVE Tamal, and I too keep getting Iain and Mat mixed up.

And can someone PLEASE arrange for me to spend a day with Mel and Sue? We'd have the best fun.
