Oh I love this. Never seen it before.
The bride sounds like Caroline Ahearne in the Royle. Family.

Yes Oxfam mam was brilliant. A true gent.

ButterflyUpSoHigh · 22/07/2015 21:45

Much preferred his dress the one she chose wasn't half as nice.

Definitely some back story with her daughters picking fault with everything. The son was lovely though.

Bakeoffcake · 22/07/2015 21:54

Another here who wants to know where all the money went, it all looked like it was done on a very small budget.Hmm

glenthebattleostrich · 22/07/2015 21:55

I'd have thought the fact they were together for 18 fucking years was proof of commitment, not a crap wedding.

And I'd disown all the kids

Bakeoffcake · 22/07/2015 21:59

His dress was much nicer. The one she choose didn't suit her.

SirChenjin · 22/07/2015 22:00

Thought the son was lovely - top bloke

leccybill · 22/07/2015 23:42

Tonight's was very local to me.

So, the groom seemed like a bit of a dickhead, but I did quite enjoy the theme, and the idea behind it, if not the execution.

What did the £14k go on?

2hr Odeon hire
Nightclub hire - I think wedding was on a weekday?
Am dram volunteers
Billboard in middle of nowhere
Cheap dress
Cheap bridesmaid dresses from Roman Originals
No flowers
No stag do (no friends?)
No food

£14k???

notquitehuman · 22/07/2015 23:52

The preview shots for this show always have some bride going "I want a big, traditional wedding". Come on, you know it's not gonna happen.

Did the groom pay for the fire eaters outside the venue? That could cost a fortune. Maybe it all got put on an open bar.

SirChenjin · 23/07/2015 08:24

I missed the whole of the reception bit - there was no food??? Shock

If my DH had wasted £14K on a few hours at an Odeon and drinks at a cocktail bar I'd have been furious.

member · 23/07/2015 08:40

There was a buffet in the cocktail bar place. Hire of cinema was 3k ish ( they said 1/2 price of Leicester Square which was 6 k)

SirChenjin · 23/07/2015 08:43

I realise I'm getting totally obsessed here, but if it was a buffet that was what, £1k? Venue £3k? Car £500? Dresses £500? It must have been a very well used free bar and all the extras life staff, entertainers etc. surely? Confused

WhereAreMyDragons · 23/07/2015 09:04

I didn't like the shop man, he sounded like a makeshift counsellor.
Obviously there must be some massive back story where the groom has fucked up hugely for none of them to trust him, and he has to 'prove himself' with the wedding. Which, imo, he spectacularly failed at.
Dresses were awful, no flowers for decoration or bridesmaids, rubbish hen, no stag (shown), where did it all go?
Unless there were diamond encrusted wedding bands.

Christinayanglah · 23/07/2015 09:12

I shudder when I think about letting Dh plan wedding...I mean who wants a wedding based around fishing!!!!

StillStayingClassySanDiego · 23/07/2015 13:35

I've only got into this the last two episodes, it's hilarious Grin.

The daughters from last night's episode were completely down about the whole thing, even his own dd had a face like a slapped arse when talking about him, what was that all about?

Next week's looks priceless!

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 25/07/2015 15:48

Oh dear Lord, the daughters on their week's episode were a nightmareShock dreadful behaviour ! The dress he picked was much nicer imo than the one in the 'proper' bridal shop or the oxfam shop.

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 25/07/2015 15:54

I loved the oxfam shop man, he took control of the whole situation ,loved the way he stamped on them sneering about ' second hand dresses' too.

SirChenjin · 25/07/2015 16:03

Anyone got a link to the cruise ship one the PPs were talking about?

OfHouseStark · 25/07/2015 19:07

SirChenjin It's still on iPlayer- it's episode 3: Kelly and Mark Smile

SirChenjin · 25/07/2015 19:11

Thanks Stark - that's brilliant! My Saturday night viewing is sorted Smile

SirChenjin · 25/07/2015 20:42

Oh no - couldn't find it on iPlayer or Youtube Sad

KittensOnAPlane · 25/07/2015 21:01

EmpressKnowsWhereHerTowelIs · 25/07/2015 21:31

how odd

i noticed they bleep out words like fuck, but let frig go through

susiella · 26/07/2015 12:46

I'm confused at the BBC making a big thing of moving DTTB to BBC1 yet advertising the new series as being shown on BBC3.
