Oh I enjoyed last weeks so much. David Bowie was a real shock at the end a real signal that times moving on. Do you think we will ever see Sally or Betty again? There must only be a couple left Sad

Where can you download it? I can't wait until Thursday!

MilkThistle187 · 19/05/2015 12:53

Sorry Pete I have no idea, I'll ask DH

donemekmelarf · 19/05/2015 13:38

MilkThistle, without going into any details.
Was it a good ending?
As in, was it a satisfying ending?
Were you happy with it?

mateysmum · 19/05/2015 15:37

I have just watched it. No spoilers, but I blubbed for most of the last 15 minutes. More because it was ending than anything else. It is quite a satifying ending, but in a very typical Mad Men way - it relflects life - ie. not everything is neat and tidy, there are no guarantees, but there is hope.

SenecaFalls · 19/05/2015 17:21

mateysmum put it very well. That was my sense of things, too.

donemekmelarf · 19/05/2015 17:57

Thanks! I can't wait to see it. Not long now.

CheesyDibbles · 20/05/2015 16:25

Mad Men has been my absolute favourite series of the past decade. I love everything about it and I'm so sad it's ending. I love it's intelligence, style and humour. I have enjoyed each series, though the earlier ones were definitely my favourites.

I'm planning on watching the Sopranos next - I completely missed out on this but have now realised it was created by the same man who is behind MM.

EachandEveryone · 21/05/2015 11:46

The Sopranos is bloody brilliant. It's very violent though and hard going I think in the beginning. I couldn't choose between the two because I loved the Sopranos so much. They are very different.

I've avoided spoilers so far. Can't believe it. I will have to watch my wine intake tonight at dinner as I'm totally planning to watch it when I get in tonight.

Eachand Everyone, how long did it take you to get into The Sopranos? I watched one and a half episodes but gave up.
Maybe I didn't give it long enough.

EachandEveryone · 21/05/2015 14:03

Episode five is called College if you can get up to and through that episode you will know if it's for you or not. It frequently comes up as being the best episode in a tv series. Ever. I loved it. Loved the psychobabble, loved his real family and his mob family. I actually loved Tony more than a little bit and he was bloody horrific! Do give it another shot.

There's been a couple of episodes in this last season of Mad Men that have screamed Sopranos all over them. It was only after I thought this that I noticed the writer being involved.

Great, really looking forward to Sopranos! I watched the first episode years ago and didn't carry through, but I'm definitely trying again.

Dh is going out tonight and I have wine and chocolate lined up for tonight's episode!

EachandEveryone · 21/05/2015 18:07

I've got a nice white in but I'm off out now will try and keep the drinks to a minimum

Well? Anyone ready to talk about it or are we all in mourning?

donemekmelarf · 21/05/2015 23:27

Great Series.
Rubbish Ending sorry

Okay, not completely rubbish. There were some good bits, but it was a bit unsatisfying.

Lordylordy · 21/05/2015 23:27

I loved it. I thought it was a brilliant final episode. It makes me to want to go back and watch it from the start. It will be a hard show to beat I think every series has been wonderful. I didn't think a show like mad men would end giving me everything I wanted from it but it did.

springsprang · 21/05/2015 23:28

Loved it! Sad that it's over but what a way to go. Am going to watch the whole lot again next winter (don't do much TV when it's light)

R00tat00tt00t · 21/05/2015 23:31

I really enjoyed it, felt quite emotional in the last section. I like how it left some things open for us to muse on. No doubt I'll ponder what it all meant or how I'd like things to go from there...

donemekmelarf · 21/05/2015 23:38

I think Six Feet Under's fantastic, best ever ending has ruined all other endings for me.

SenecaFalls · 21/05/2015 23:46

I loved it. Especially how Joan's story went.

EachandEveryone · 22/05/2015 00:27

Thought it was great. However, I never shed one tear I thought it would be much more emotional.

EthelredOnAGoodDay · 22/05/2015 07:18

Loved it. Have watched from the very first episode on bbc4 (or whatever it was). I think it was the perfect ending.

tsonlyme · 22/05/2015 07:22

Loved it Grin

Peggy & Stan - she deserves to be happy & I laughed at 'Im in love with you' 'what's that?' 'I lurrve you' 'whaht'? Hehe. Surprised Peggy didn't go into business with Joan though. Hope Joan doesn't get herself a coke habit.

And Don's inner peace smile was perfect.

Nagasaki · 22/05/2015 08:10

I loved it. Was in tears of laughter/joy at Peggy's realisation.

Loved Don's smile at the end, and then the Coke ad. Ever the ad man, you see the spark of genius renewed in him.

Poor Sally though Sad

CheesyDibbles · 22/05/2015 08:11

Enjoyed it, but thought it was a bit of an anti-climax. Loved Peggy and Stan's ending. I wish Peggy and Joan had gone into business together and I wish that Joan and Roger could have ended up together. I loved Pete going off in his jet. Don's ending, I'm not so sure about either, it didn't leave me feeling satisfied! I thought the Coke ad at the end was great - it really summed up the era, and for me, the emptiness of the advertising world.

Nagasaki · 22/05/2015 08:12

So are we all in agreement that Don created the Coke ad? Brilliant stroke by Matthew Weiner.
