Oh I enjoyed last weeks so much. David Bowie was a real shock at the end a real signal that times moving on. Do you think we will ever see Sally or Betty again? There must only be a couple left Sad

Misty I wondered that about Joan's comment too, it was such an off the cuff remark and wasn't quantified about further, I think it was to give you an insight into her as mother, I always thought she didn't seem to take to motherhood that much. Nobody is/has a loving mother in mad men!

PeppermintInfusion · 15/05/2015 19:45

I also wondered if Betty really did get the all clear during her previous cancer scare (when she went to get diet pills)?

Thanks Pete

I've just caught up. How wrong were we thinking that Betty's story ended last week? Sad I never saw that coming. What a fabulous episode. Was in bits by the end of it. Dreading next week. Are all the children Dons?

I hope the end will be as good as Six Fee Under's ending.

SenecaFalls · 16/05/2015 17:09

All the children are Don's, but he and Betty were divorced when Gene was an infant so Henry has been as much (or more) a father to Gene than Don has been.

EachandEveryone · 16/05/2015 17:24

"Stannis Baratheon and now Don Draper...it's been a good week for TV grammar nazis." That quote from the a Guardian made me chuckle as that's exactly what I thought as soon as he said it to the odd job boy.

OP posts:
SenecaFalls · 16/05/2015 17:41

Don's grammar correction was a bit of a living-in-a-glass-house-throwing-stones moment. In an earlier episode, he used "myself" as the subject of a sentence. Shock

SquidgyMummy · 16/05/2015 17:51

I can't believe they will have time to wrap up every story in one episode.
I thought Meghan is gone & a $million richer.
Roger is shacked up with meghan;s maman Marie
Pete is going to Wichita with trudy to work for Lear
Joan is going to california to be with her rich bloke.

I wrote on the other Mad men thread, Don is going to be a SAHD and Peggy is going to be Creative Director of MCann Erikson.

mistymeanour · 16/05/2015 21:13

I hope they don't do a Sopranos ending. I could see Don reinventing himself again from nothing or ending up a sad, lonely, alcoholic watching old photos of better times on a Carousel. I don't like him (and didn't like the "new" storyline with the waitress). He needs to find a "mother" figure like the real Don Draper's wife who died of cancer.

PeppermintInfusion · 17/05/2015 09:47

Most I thought he was going to reinvent himself last week but don't think he'd leave the kids, as he seems to have a real bond with Sally in recent episodes

EachandEveryone · 17/05/2015 22:57

How on earth are we going to avoid spoilers between now and Thursday?

OP posts:
donemekmelarf · 17/05/2015 23:10

I will read this thread and ONLY this thread between now and Thursday.

This is what I think will happen:

The Silver Fox will have a second, fatal heart attack Sad
What I would like to happen: Silver Fox gets together with Joan and they live happily ever after.
Pete will accept new job offer and ride off into sunset with his little family
What I would like to happen:
Pete and Peggy and love child get together and live happily ever after.
Don jumps out of window (and falls to ground like symbolic man)
What will probably happen:
He will find waitress and start a new life with her. I hope that doesn't happen - don't like the waitress.

The perfect ending would be if they started up their own company yet again. One great big soppy reunion and completely screw McCann over.
But that's never gonna happen Sad

mateysmum · 18/05/2015 08:51

warning Do not look at the Daily Telegraph website today if you want to avoid spoilers - ie. a full plot summary of the finale!

donemekmelarf · 18/05/2015 09:28

Thanks for the mateysmum.
I will avoid all newspapers and online news gonna be tough

donemekmelarf · 18/05/2015 09:28

for that

mistymeanour · 18/05/2015 09:51

DailyMail sidebar of shame announces it loudly! according to my DD (who is protecting me)

thatstoast · 18/05/2015 17:36

Dh has basically told me not to look at the internet at all, until Thursday. I'm sticking to mumsnet only.

EachandEveryone · 18/05/2015 18:36

I actually daren't log on to Facebook. I'm going out for dinner Thursday night so I'm looking forward to watching it in peace on catch up.

OP posts:
IdaBlankenship · 18/05/2015 22:05

I am late to the party, and have only just caught up with Thursdays episode. It really feels like it is all heading for the end now. I resented Don's sojourn into Hicksville - I want him to spend more time with other characters I love as time is so precious now.
I wasn't expecting the Betty story at all. I thought her story was wrapped up.
God, let's hope Peggy has a happy ending after all this, I can't stand the angst for my lovely SC kids Sad

SenecaFalls · 18/05/2015 23:57

I've seen it.

MilkThistle187 · 19/05/2015 01:03

We couldn't wait and DH downloaded it. I was expecting to be disappointed but I wasn't. It's very good.

SenecaFalls · 19/05/2015 01:12

Yes, it is.

MilkThistle187 · 19/05/2015 09:09

I'm bursting to talk about it but don't want to spoil it for anyone! I'll be back here on Friday
