After the fantastic threads last year I thought it time to start making our predictions for those in the semis and for potential winners.

Who's in?

There was a Moldovan entry a few years ago about a trumpet that was brilliant in a strange kind of way.
'lalala, you haven't seen before, how looks that trumpet...'

That Portuguese accordion playing was a lot better than the vocals, which sounded like DD2 singing in the shower after a long run.

I believe Italy are in it this year, with an intense operatic number involving three tenors, and much drama and Fiat 500s in a trailer I have seen.

Math, yes the vocals were truly terrible live - my memory of the song from the CD/mp3 version is far less painful!

I've not heard any of this year's entries apart from the UK one. I deliberately avoid any sneak previews as I prefer to hear everything for the first time during the final, although I do go back to watch the semi-finals later.

Ahhh, the Il Divo wannabe boys. They won the San Remo song festival much to every teenager in Italy's horror. (It's usually won by an ex-winner of the Italian version of Fame Academy which runs all year from September to May- Emma Marrone who did Eurovision dressed as a Roman statue and flung herself on the floor to show us what she had for breakfast was a former winner)

They might do well. Or they might get nul points. Depends if the former Eastern Bloc can deal with the missing-blue eyeshadow and jiggy dance routine element.

That 2003 Portuguese entry is one of my favourite entries ever.

Ooh- just seen the semi final is on tonight- I haven't heard our entry. Should I bother, or hear it first on Saturday?

math- I can still hum the tune to the Moldova trumpet one- it was great!

What was the one last year that was 'so bad, it was great' but it didn't get through to the final?
And the one with the dress like a volcano? Or was that the year before?

Ahh, the Eurovision memories

This year Moldova has a Ukrainian singer, in a kind of solidarity with Ukraine move. It's lacking in out and out surrealism but does have people dressed as police (not in Moldovan uniforms unfortunately)
