On MrsPeabody's advice I've started a new one.

I'll admit I'm posting now because I love the Motherdick thread title.

Do you think it's meant to be one word or two?

AwfulBeryl · 22/03/2015 07:47

Thanks for posting the webisodes, I am going to watch them tonight when the dc are in bed.
MOTHERDICK.

ApocalypseNowt · 22/03/2015 08:08

Definitely one word.

Watched Cargo and I really like it. Her sweet squishy tummy! Awwww....

Haven't seen the webisodes yet but i'll get on that soon.

Thank you for the new thread and thank you for thanking people who have thanked you for the new thread.

50shadesofknackered · 22/03/2015 08:58

Thanks for the new thread Limited I love the title. Thanks for the link to the webisodes as well. I'm trying to resist looking at the spoilers, I don't think I'll be able to stop myself.

FannyFifer · 22/03/2015 09:01

Blondeshavemorefun · 22/03/2015 09:13

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 22/03/2015 10:08

Not a Walker Watcher myself (DS and DH love it and it's on the tV in the background)

Will anyone be away for the DC Easter holidays (ours start this Friday) so will miss the last episode?
Rubbishy timing from the programme planners Hmm

Rosieliveson · 22/03/2015 10:34

Yay, found you

rallytog1 · 22/03/2015 10:58

Hurray! Thanks limited.

Next series should be on in October if they follow the usual schedule. They normally start filming around May.

I don't know why, but I suspect tomorrow's episode won't be a classic - I imagine they'll be looking to set things up for the 90-minute finale, rather than having too much excitement in this ep. Would love to be wrong about that though.

limitedperiodonly · 22/03/2015 10:59

I always think bell end looks better than bellend but apparently I'm wrong according to Sunday Sport editor Nick Appleyard.

What age do you think it's alright to watch. I have my nieces coming to stay they are 13 and 14 and love creepy stuff.

limitedperiodonly · 22/03/2015 11:22

Hard to say. I think I'd find it okay at those ages, but when I was 14 you didn't have such graphic violence on TV, and it is graphic. More than I remember the George Romero zombie films being, which I saw roughly about age and scared but didn't scar me.

So I don't think TWD would have upset or damaged me - the death of Buttons aside Wink

I know adults who won't watch violent films. I wouldn't argue with them but I think they're missing out. Lots of films have extremely violent scenes in them that are integral to the plot. I don't see how you can skirt around violence in TWD.

I watched Grease at 14. I found its attitude to women and sexual behaviour offensive even at the time. Plus the fact that they were playing high school characters and they were all at least 30 Wink

I had quite liberal parents - all right, lax, is probably a better description.

OP posts:
limitedperiodonly · 22/03/2015 11:25

I should add that I'd cop out and ask their parents eachandeveryone.

People get angry enough about their children getting squash on playdates.

Have you seen it BTW?

ApocalypseNowt · 22/03/2015 14:38

I watched the original Dawn of the Dead when i was 13. Shit me up and gave me nightmares for ages.....as well as a lifelong love of all things zombie Grin

SaskiaRembrandtWasFramed · 22/03/2015 14:49

I watched the original DotD aged about 13 too. I loved it, but my friend went and stood in the hallway and watched it through a crack in the door.

limitedperiodonly · 22/03/2015 15:04

At the risk of picking scabs, the original Dawn of the Dead had a black hero which was pretty unusual in 1978, though they'd experimented before in Shaft and other blaxpoitation movies. Except that DotD wasn't a blaxploitation pic. I think it was a bold move but it chimed with the bold idea that mass consumerism makes us all zombies.

The remake of 2004, which I like more, stuck with the black hero.

I also like Fallen mainly because it's clever and scary but also because the lead is black.

That might make me seem patronising. I truly am not. I want to see lots of different actors portraying stuff.

Fallen struck me as a film whose lead was black where there was no reason for making him black and therefore every reason for making him white if you are saying that having a white hero is the safe way to maximise audiences.

I don't want to be offensive. I just find it interesting and am just musing ahead of tomorrow night...

Normal stupid and irreverent service will be resumed on Tuesday Wink

DS is 15, started watching at 14yo (with DH)
He's not really into horror (never asks to watch 18 films) but loves TWD.

Last year, I was having surgery on the first night of the new series (Ocyober)
Little bu**er didn't even ask to come to the hospital to see me (He wouldn't have been allowed anyway , no DC on ward and too late out for him, DH doesn't drive )
So he watched TWD.

sniff

EachandEveryone · 22/03/2015 15:46

Yes, I do watch it Grin. I just thought it could be something we could bond over. The 14 year old is hard work and I was thinking after we've been to London Dungeons we could get a pizza and watch a couple of episodes. I don't know of what season yet.

limitedperiodonly · 22/03/2015 15:56

That sounds like a good day Each. But you know what people are like.

OP posts:
EachandEveryone · 22/03/2015 16:28

And to think we were watching videos of The Exorcist and Poltergeist when we were 12!

limitedperiodonly · 22/03/2015 17:39

I find the Exorcist and Poltergeist boring.

I like The Omen.

The scariest film I've seen is a Dutch film called

It translates to The Vanishing and it was remade in that title in English with Kiefer Sutherland and Sandra Bullock.

Do not watch the remake. It is shit.

But more importantly, do not Google the original in advance because it is the scariest thing I've ever seen and Googling will destroy the twist.

It's soo scary that someone ran out of the cinema screaming.

That's so good in a bad way.

There's no violence at all which probably makes it worse.

Oh god and this one . Wibble.
