How's that for a combined thread title??

it was pointed out to me during the week that kate thornton's previously very wrinkled forehead is now totally smooth. I was completely distracted by that all night.

I think Ray will be out....he must have been gutted that none of the judges - not even his mentor - mentioned him at the end.

Thought Kate looked very glam - quite different to how she looked in an advert which was shown during one of the breaks. I thought the difference was down to bad lighting (in the ad), but you may be right that she could have had a bit of extra help.

Ray and Eton Road were the worst tonight. Ray should go.

I worry about the "pretty" one in Eton Road because he seems so highly strung. Dunno why, but I have an uneasy feeling he could do something foolish if the criticism is too harsh, or directed too much at him (as it was last week).

Have people heard about them getting rid of Kate Thornton in favour of Vernon Kay? If the idea is to replicate the Ryan Seacrest scenario in American Idol, it won't work. Their banter is slick and heavily scripted. In Vernon's case, Simon will have him for breakfast and it'll probably descend into slanging matches like it did on Fame Academy.
Keep Kate, she's not particularly interesting, but the formula works fine.

At least Simon is honest about his acts and when asked who should be in the final he didn't say both his own acts

sometimes i think the mix of the sound is different in the studio to what we get at home. Their sound engineers are terrible

Agree with Earlybird. That guy in Eton rd always looks distracted. Never seems to be paying attentiion when being interviewed. The others seem fairly together but he is incredible fragile. He looks desperate for stardom and yet appears increasingly more uncomfortable each week. If I was his mother, I'd be very worried.

I think Vernon Kay would be much better than Kate Thorton. He wouldn't have to argue with the judges - it worked really well with Ant and Dec in Pop idol.

And definatley get rid of Louis - he only seems to be motivated by scoring points off Simon. Simon is totally arrogant but at least he is honest and fair.

I love Louis' argument as to why the Mctwats should win - "cos they're really nice guys".

WHY can't they judge the "real" acts??? I wanted em to tell Westlife that they were being too cheesy and that Delta Goodrem looked like she was having stomach cramps (and needed a longer dress)!!!

I liked Eton Rd ... Ben actually scared me a bit this week. Anyone else REALLY wanting to see McDonalds do 1000 miles???

The "odd" one from Eton Rd was raised by his nan apparently, and really does seem very very breakable He makes me go all maternal.

How old is Ben?? Whenever they do his talking bits he always seems to go from rocker performing to a geeky little boy... its quite sweet!

I was very shocked at Eton Rd and Robert in the bottom two but I can understand why Simon came to the decision he did. If he won the X Factor he'd just be another Andy or Steve. Bringing out albums and disappearing into nowhere.
