(I think I am the only one on this thread, and its predecessors, who doesn't share the Carol love)

Aridane · 10/03/2015 12:50

Loved Daryl bonding with what's his name this episode - and him leaving his outsider status and becoming a recruiter, because he can tell a good person from a bad person.

Love the way the bad asses Daryl and Michonne are becoming assimilate.

OstentatiousBreastfeeder · 10/03/2015 13:10

Aridane I think she's batshit, and not in a good way.

limitedperiodonly · 10/03/2015 13:18

Yes she is batshit and that came over in her threat to the boy (can't remember his name). If I was him I'd never be alone around her again and wouldn't be eating any of her cookies.

But I do love her. I'd bloody well hope she loved me too Grin

I can't remember now, but did she kill Tyreese's girlfriend and the other man back at the prison, or just drag their bodies out once they were dead of flu and burn them?

OstentatiousBreastfeeder · 10/03/2015 13:25

Killed 'em! In an attempt to stop the illness but still...

That's why Rick told her gtfo.

MrsPeabody · 10/03/2015 13:27

Iforgot, I noticed the blood splatter. Wondered if they had a new director for the episode or something? It was a strange decision.

Carol killed the two mentioned below. Not sure crazy is the right word for her as she is so calculated. She will never be able to become that wholesome mum again if they find permanent safety will she?!

(Must not google whisperers)

ThisIsntFunnyDean · 10/03/2015 13:29

Did Daryl have a shower before he went to the party (then decided against going in)?
He looked a bit cleaner but just still scruffy cos his hair needs a cut. He had put a shirt on, but hardly put that on without a wash first??
Anyway, I'm more a Rick fan, but thought I'd mention it in case some of you were still waiting on a shower scene that might now happen!

Aridane · 10/03/2015 13:32

Thank you, OstentatiousBreastfeeder! Don't get me started on her killing people in the prison because they had flu or whatever; her childminding skills with Lizzie; or her general self righteous smugness.

Like others (I think), my least favourite characters were Andrea and Lori (though the death in childbirth scene came as a real shock) - but Carol has overtaken them in my most disliked character.

HaveTeaWillSurvive · 10/03/2015 13:34

She killed them, always been batshit but this smiling weakling act is chilling.

Aridane · 10/03/2015 13:36

Anyone noticed the change in zombies' intelligence / abilities?

In series one, they had residual memory / abilities - little girl zombie picking up her dropped toy; Morgan's wife returning to the home and trying the door handle; zombies climing stairs when they were at the top of the building. And having to cover themselves in zombie guts to avoid their keen sense of smell, or hide under cars to avoid them (and that scene was then criticised as unrealistic as the zombies were then so attunded to hunting down and eating humans).

However, now they seem more decayed and pathetic, aimlessly wandering about. A kick to the head and they disintegrate - and their skulls are so rotten you wonder how their teeth manage to chew flesh (the horse eating scene was quite impressive here).

Wonder if that is simply due to a change of producer, or whether it's because the zombies have reduced strength / abilities and sort of decay the longer they exist...

OstentatiousBreastfeeder · 10/03/2015 13:37

I thought Daryl and Carol were a good match, but not anymore. He's way too good for her

Before, you know, I thought him and Beth would be a thing Sad

limitedperiodonly · 10/03/2015 13:37

I think she's been warped by the horrible experiences she's had. If she's on your side, she'd take a bite for you.

Otherwise, she'd stake you out like a tethered goat.

I don't fancy Rick at all but I found his snatched kiss with the hairdresser erotic just for the fact that it wasn't full-on tongues and panting.

OstentatiousBreastfeeder · 10/03/2015 13:51

I think they can decay into immobility, I'm pretty sure I read somewhere that Kirkman stated they get weaker the older they are.

I think their 'abilities' or lack thereof from episode to episode is down to different writing styles though. Convenience of the storyline type thing.

limitedperiodonly · 10/03/2015 13:53

I usually watch the episodes at least twice because I'm a bugger for missing things. But I can't cope with seeing Buttons again [sob].

It made me hug my cat more, which irritated him because he was stretched out asleep on a radiator.

I've already worked out that the first thing I'd do is take a carving knife and a cleaver from the block and loot the vintage Bill Amberg Baby Papoose from the posh baby charity shop up the road. If I could take out some zombie yummy mummies, all the better.

DH can look after himself. He has an air rifle.

limitedperiodonly · 10/03/2015 13:55

Link didn't work. This might

MrsPeabody · 10/03/2015 13:55

Morgan's wife turning the handle was a big thing, even in the opening music of that serious. Then suddenly she was the only one who ever managed to do that. Then the poor old guy who died when they ripped his stomach open. The zombies hands don't seem to do damage anymore Wink

limitedperiodonly · 10/03/2015 13:58

Obviously the papoose is for the cat, not a baby.

MrsPeabody · 10/03/2015 13:58

*series

wigglesrock · 10/03/2015 13:58

I think Rick and all are being set up by the residents. They've managed to live securely enough in nice houses, running water, vehicles, schools, haircuts, parties, they have a shit load of guns and seemingly ammunition. I'm not sure where they're getting all their food from - the houses weren't lived in when they were moved in by the army, surely they've exhausted the nearby food sources, they don't seem to be keeping any animals.

They've managed to organise themselves with regards to recruiting parties, they followed Ricks group, before approaching them, they listened to them (the group of 3 would do well to remember that plot point Smile). I think they are well expecting a coup, not sure what the outcome of it will be, but they seem to be providing enough opportunity for Rick, Carol, Darryl to show their hand.

aticusclaw · 10/03/2015 14:23

Did I miss what happened to the mutating zombies when they were at the prison. Weren't they changing?

Midori1999 · 10/03/2015 15:22

I can't help but love Carol. She's a survivor and is now determined to survive and protect those she loves at all costs. The whole Lizzie thing was awful, but tbh, what choice did they really have? There's no psychiatric help in the ZA. Keeping her with them would have out them and Judith at risk. Separating and one staying with her and one starting with Judith would have put them and Judith at risk. Leaving her to fend for herself would have been horribly cruel. I think it largely symbolised how the wild has changed. How it can change people. Look at the Rick in the first series. Lori kept mentioning he was 'too soft' and too kind. Shane thought he was weak. That couldn't be further from the truth now. They've all done things they wouldn't have done before the ZA. That's how they've survived. Those who couldn't accept the world as it is now or adapt have died or are more at risk of dying.

I really liked this episode. I do think maybe the exiled men will show up and they may or may not have anything to do with the 'w' carvings. Hopefully we'll find out more about the halved bodies left in the truck this season, but if not I think we'll see more about them at some point. Well spotted about 'Morgan street' too. Maybe that means Morgan will turn up again soon? Lots of foreshadowing goes on.

susiedaisy · 10/03/2015 15:51

Yes I noticed the blood splatter on the camera.

Yes I also think Daryl had had a shower but still looked scruffy.

I don't think Rick will ever get together with michonne, Carole etc as he considers them to be his family I don't think he sees them in any other way

cherrytree63 · 10/03/2015 16:27

I've just upgraded my Virgin tv package to get Fox, it activates tomorrow....does anyone know if I can catch up on all of series 5?

Midori1999 · 10/03/2015 16:41

Oh, I've just realised that I always feel very glad of my plethora of child carriers when I think of what is do in a ZA... Grin

Wigglesrock, when they went out of the practice 'run' with Aiden, he said that they had been gradually increasing the radius they went our to and if was up to 100 miles I think? Although I'm guessing maybe there still wouldn't be an awful lot about a couple do years into a ZA?

HaveTeaWillSurvive · 10/03/2015 17:44

I was awake at 3am last night thinking about TWD Blush

Had an epiphany - this cannot end well, with a cure and a happy ever after can it Sad. They are all far too feral, I predict it coming down to Rick, Daryl and Carol facing off to a final blaze of glory against a massive pack.

I am far too invested for this... Sob!
