Old Baldie is back, I'm afraid. However, the format for the first round is a bit different.

Firstly, the contestants are given just one hour and fifteen minutes to dazzle the judges when they are asked to cook their calling card, a practised dish that represents just who they are as a cook and showcases their talent. After tasting all five dishes, John and Gregg, without telling each other, each pick their favourite dish. If they both choose the same dish then they will select their second preference. The two lucky cooks will be safe - for now - and sail straight through to the third test.

The remaining three contestants must cook again in a twist on the infamous invention test - the reinvention test. The hopefuls are given the main ingredient from their calling card dish, as well as access to the larder. Using that same ingredient, they must reinvent the dish to create a brand new plate of food that will sway the judges and earn them a place in the next round. They have one hour and fifteen minutes to cook a dish good enough to keep them in the competition. The stakes are high it's the end of the road for one person after this cook-off, as one of the amateurs will be sent home.

The four remaining cooks now have one more challenge standing between them and a quarter-final place. To earn their place they have to cook an impressive menu that will excite not just John and Gregg but also some very special guests. Once again, some of the competition's most inspiring winners and finalists return to judge the food of this year's new contenders to the throne.

In tonight's heat the contestants must attempt to impress three MasterChef Champions - 2009 champion Mat Follas, 2010 champion Dhruv Baker and 2012 champion Shelina Permalloo are back to give their verdict.

After the four hopefuls have cooked, John and Gregg will decide which two will take the next step in the competition and go through to Friday's quarter-final.

God, fat man is an ass.

Halsall · 25/03/2015 20:42

It's the Turret of Triumph for Fran.

TrulyTurtles · 25/03/2015 20:43

You reckon Fran is One Of Us?
Time for a hate in.

TrulyTurtles · 25/03/2015 20:47

Oh dear, it's a mess. Shame.

GrouchyKiwi · 25/03/2015 20:48

Did Gregg just talk about his false teeth?

GrouchyKiwi · 25/03/2015 20:49

They might need to remove that poor fake plant from behind the door.

Ellenora5 · 25/03/2015 20:50

Those tarts look crap, and she is so up her own arse that they will put her through just for that, all the "oh well it was good while it lasted" and earlier "send me home now" rubbish, she is hoping it will go in her favour

TrulyTurtles · 25/03/2015 20:50

Sugared potatoes?

Halsall · 25/03/2015 20:51

Well it's giggling man and Fran to go through, surely.

Pomegranatemolasses · 25/03/2015 20:52

Yup, Greg's definitely on some thing

GrouchyKiwi · 25/03/2015 20:53

I'm glad Fran did well.

Halsall · 25/03/2015 20:55

Hmm, which crap dessert was the crappier?

Pomegranatemolasses · 25/03/2015 20:55

They're determined not to say Sam 'n Ella. It's always Ella and Sam.

TrulyTurtles · 25/03/2015 20:56

Bet they put Ella through.

YesIDidMeanToBeSoRudeActually · 25/03/2015 20:56

Huh.

Fix.

Halsall · 25/03/2015 20:57

Oh, bah. Like Fran, don't like Ella.

GrouchyKiwi · 25/03/2015 20:57

HmmConfused

BumblingBoris · 25/03/2015 20:57

What a load of bollocks, that banana thing was rubbish

TrulyTurtles · 25/03/2015 20:57

Oh fuck-another week of her.

Pomegranatemolasses · 25/03/2015 20:57

What would actually depress Sam?

Ellenora5 · 25/03/2015 21:01

I knew she would go through, she is going to irritate the fuck out of me, thrilled for Fran though, thought she did great.

I liked Fran from the start! Just something about her she seems. ...normal!

hideandseekpig · 25/03/2015 21:17

And I'd be chattering aimlessly as well and generally be a flustered gibbering person!

LaVolcan · 26/03/2015 08:03

Weren't those blokes told that gentlemen take their hats off indoors? Yes, I mean you bowlerhat and clothcap the other week. You deserved sending home just for those faux pas. Never mind that the food wasn't up to scratch either.
