I watched WPC56 as was home this afternoon, not sure if I like it or not!! It seemed a bit dark (esp for day time viewing) but maybe that was just todays episode....

iklboo · 03/03/2015 19:10

I was really Shock at the bloke asking to take her outside for 5 minutes to see if she still had an attitude.

2old2beamum · 03/03/2015 20:29

MrsDeVere sooo glad my memory is till OK Grin it was junior aspirin!
Also remember giving intramuscular injections 4X/day (poor little buggers) no wonder they hated us!!

Wish I could have spoken to the production team but am still loving the series.

When my horse had a hole in his hoof we had to put hydrogen peroxide in it to make sure it didn't get infected. It looked absolutely evil all fizzing away. I was quite surprised on reading the bottle to find it recommended as a mouthwash! Don't think I'll bother thanks. Although a friend of mine did say that he tried gargling it (diluted obv) when he got tonsilitis (which he's prone to) and it was the first time it cleared up without needing antibiotics.

Since they've been handing out the Rosehip syrup and whatnot this series I've been wondering if they will mention Virol. We used to be given a spoonful of it because of the vitamins and I loved it. Sometimes we had it on toast! You can still get malt extract and cod liver oil in Boots but I bought some a little while ago and it tasted more oily than I remembered so I think Virol might have been just the malt extract on its own.

I used to have Rosehip syrup as a very small child. I remember loving it although no idea what it tasted like now. That must be my earliest memory

Thalidomide story?

OP posts:
SoupDragon · 08/03/2015 20:38

I think so. :(

SoupDragon · 08/03/2015 20:38
Shock
Lilymaid · 08/03/2015 20:39

Almost definitely thalidomide, unfortunately.

bluelamp · 08/03/2015 20:39

Yes, a thalidomide story.

BikeRunSki · 08/03/2015 20:40

I'm predicting thalidomide
DH predicted the bike accident

Oodbrain · 08/03/2015 20:49

Dh did too.

Bloody Cynthia.

SoupDragon · 08/03/2015 20:55

The thalidomide story is awful with the benefit of hindsight :(

juneybean · 08/03/2015 20:56

Feel so bad for Patsy :(

Willabywallaby · 08/03/2015 20:56

Trixie on the phone's really set me off.

juneybean · 08/03/2015 20:57

This show never fails to make me cry.

dajmibuzi · 08/03/2015 20:58

Oh God ... Thalidomide. I actually didn't see that coming.

mammuzzamia · 08/03/2015 21:00

Poor Patsy! I knew the second she sailed away on the bike that she would be involved in an accident/ Not fair the relationship was doomed either way.

What has Cynthia done now? I haven't finished watching yet Grin

JazzAnnNonMouse · 08/03/2015 21:01

I guessed thamedalide as soon as they went on about special drugs as they don't normally do that.

Poor patsy Sad

Would be interesting to see the thalidomide story carried on but it wouldn't be linked to the drugs initially would it.

OP posts:
MarthasHarbour · 08/03/2015 21:06

Oh this one had me in bits. I too called thalidomide immediately. I wept at the lovely couple with the deaf lady, trixie, thalidomide lady, patsy, fred. Just everythingSad

girliefriend · 08/03/2015 21:09

Found this episode totally depressing Sad

I didn't really think it was necessary to knock Patsys gf off her bike, they could have let them be happy for a bit first.

Poor Trixie, she looks awful hope she puts some weight on before the next series.

I wanted to punch Freds daughter Angry not only ruining her dads happiness but insinuating that he was only after her for her money!! Glad it was o.kay in the end but think Marlene got off a bit lightly tbh.

Felt sick when they said thamedalide - I didn't see that coming either Sad

I'm wrung out.
