Yes I just found her on imbd.

I think it must have been casualty that i saw her in.

ILovedYouYesterday · 16/02/2015 20:04

I guessed brittle bone as soon as he got the second fracture but then wondered if it was a double bluff and was going to turn out to be the dad after all, especially when he went out and got in a fight, or a double double bluff and turn out to be the mum!

BeyondDoesBootcamp · 17/02/2015 10:11

I must be using different eyes to you lot, all i thought when doc was disheveled was how much older it made him look!

I dont think trixie wears a wig. Think i saw her on something like the one show with longer hair like it is now (i also noticed that in rl she has her tragus pierced Grin )

ppeatfruit · 17/02/2015 12:27

Ref. The little boys; the little boy translating for his mum was amazing! He could act and speak both languages so well.

I also like the actor who plays the doc's son; he can act too! Unusual. Grin

Sorry Beyond what's a tragus?

dreamcometrue · 17/02/2015 12:56

Ppea it's the little bit at the front of your ear, in front of your ear canal.

I love Helen George. Such a crush on her.

I was wondering if Cynthia has a crisis of faith maybe? It seems like there is a lot of her looking unsure and pam ferris said something about it being in your heart. (Vague, sorry)

ppeatfruit · 17/02/2015 13:03

Oh thanks dream Sounds painful Grin.

Ref. Cynthia;it must be difficult to 'go out' into the world of laypeople when you've been cocooned within a religious order I suppose.

Behindthepaintedgarden · 17/02/2015 13:12

I got the impression that Cynthia was having a lot of doubts. I think the real Cynthia became a nun for a while but then left and married a vicar.

diddl · 17/02/2015 13:36

I think that Cynthia was missing being friends with the midwives.

She used to go out with them, have chats in their rooms.

Now it's all devotion!

I think Cynthia was concerned for Trixie and missing her a little. At the very end when the girls were off out and you saw the nuns going into the chapel Cynthia paused but she didn't look towards Trixie and she didn't look sad or unsure. She looked, I don't know, like she was pleased/honoured/whatever to be going with the nuns.

I think Cynthia is happy with her decision but knows that Trixie isn't and that she's having a hard time. I don't see a crisis of faith coming.

ShelaghTurner · 17/02/2015 14:46

(and I'm squeeeing because Steve McGann is on Loose Women on Friday and I've just got an audience ticket! I hate Loose Women but I'll suffer them for him...)

ppeatfruit · 17/02/2015 16:47

Oooh enjoy Shelagh Grin

I'm missing Pam Ferris. I [heart] her (not in that silly gardening whodunnit though!).

Behindthepaintedgarden · 18/02/2015 11:27

Funny, I was just watching an old episode of Where the Heart Is last night and thinking how much better the series was in its earlier days with Pam Ferris and Sarah Lancashire in the leads, than in its later days.

I think something special always goes out of a series when the original characters leave, no matter how good their replacements. Which is why I'm torn between not wanting CTM to finish, but also not wanting to see it deteriorate if any more of its main characters decide to depart.

ppeatfruit · 18/02/2015 13:38

Yes I liked that too Behindthe At the beginning as you say. Is it actually on telly or have you got DVDs?

Behindthepaintedgarden · 19/02/2015 11:59

They were showing repeats over the last couple of weeks during the afternoon, so I recorded them. It seems to be the final series before Sarah and Pam left.

ppeatfruit · 19/02/2015 13:27

Thanks Grin

girliefriend · 20/02/2015 21:36

Sorry very late to thread Grin

I was a little bit Hmm that all it took for Dr Turner to recover from an apparent breakdown was some well wishing patients and being able to preform an emergency tracheostomy. Not particularly realistic....

Anyhow I still loved it, I was in Lyme Regis today and I do think the Mr and Mrs Turner should have a little holiday there Smile

Seff · 21/02/2015 08:32

I don't think it was a breakdown as such, tiredness and stress from covering other people's patients built up and then failing to correctly diagnose the brittle bone baby made him think he was going to get shell shock again.

Plus, cake always cheers me up! Grin

They've been building up to Mrs T becoming nurse shelagh all series, lots of comments about how much she misses it. And with all the PC-ness going on, it seems inevitable she'll become a working mum.

DishwasherDogs · 21/02/2015 08:56

Also late to the thread, but I thought the frostiness between Trixie and Cynthia was because Trixie said "you're looking well" to Cynthia, who looked at her but couldn't return the compliment.

ShelaghTurner · 21/02/2015 09:08

Nothing to do with PCness, it's always been there under the surface. And remember Chummy is a working mother and has been for 2 series.

ppeatfruit · 21/02/2015 13:46

I think that women HAD to leave the work force after they married in the 60s let alone when they'd had a baby.

SoupDragon · 21/02/2015 16:15

My mother married in 1960 and had her first child in 62. She left work to have him, not when she married. As my mother doesn't appear to have been the rebellious type, I guess that by 1960 it was acceptable for a married woman to work but considered right for her to leave to look after a baby and not go back.

GColdtimer · 22/02/2015 19:04

Just a complete bit of trivia, I was in a HIV awareness short film in 1990 with manjinda virk who played Ameera. It won awards and everythingSmile. She is from Coventry and her sister is Paven Virk.

AnneEyhtMeyer · 22/02/2015 19:43

Been lurking on this thread for ages. Mind if I join?

I think the programme has improved immensely since Jenny left. I was hoping they'd get rid of the smug pre-episode voice-over when she left but sadly not.

I'm missing Pam Ferris, but not Chummy. Cynthia has a whiny whinging voice, which puts me off her.
