Misdee! Anotherone here who remembers Pink Peter under a previous guise.

I am all behind with Call the MW as I have too much study/shifts at the wrong times. I still have the one from last week to watch and am not watching tonight either. Watched the week before the other day with the still born twin and cried buckets thinking of a similar situation I have been involved in, watching a mother unable to allow herself to be happy and to love her surviving baby. I could easily set myself off again thinking about it.

Peter becoming pink. :)
Welcome back misdee. Hope all is well.

Trixie will sort it out with the handsome vicar. Won't she? Won't she?!

Electriclaundryland · 08/02/2015 21:09

Missed that. Thanks.

KingJoffreyObviouslyWatchesHol · 08/02/2015 21:14

I think Trixie is wasted on the handsome vicar.

He's boring. She needs someone who'll make her laugh.

Where's Fred? I miss Fred.

diddl · 08/02/2015 21:14

The girl playing Bridget was in a series called "Breathless" as a young pregnant mum I think.

QueenFuri · 08/02/2015 21:26

I am a huge fan of Call the midwife, I wasn't too keen on this episode loved the part when Sister Monica Joan helped with the birth though. It needs Chummy and Pam Ferris's character back I can't remember her name!

Mrsjayy · 08/02/2015 22:18

Sister mj bit had me howling Baby joan aww. Even a sloshed trixie looks angelic she isn't even an ugly crier Envy she is just after a nice rural life bless her but I think she willget back with Tom won't she . I thought Bridget was going to the mother and baby home?

Mrsjayy · 08/02/2015 22:19

Baby Monica even tut

flashystars · 08/02/2015 22:29

I think Trixie will get her man!

SoupDragon · 08/02/2015 22:30

Looks like they're setting Dr Turner up for serious illness :(

brilliantsunshine · 08/02/2015 22:30

I think she decided to stay with prostitutes to look after Dora. .. (think that was her name!)

Mrsjayy · 08/02/2015 22:37

Ah right I also think Bridget was back at work Sad

BOFster · 09/02/2015 00:38

I'm watching it now. I'm a bit Hmm at the incredibly progressive safe-sex radical nunning going on.

mammuzzamia · 09/02/2015 00:58

I agree that Trixie is wasted on young vicar.

Very progressive nuns indeed!

I do hope nothing happens to that nice Dr Turner next week. He's one of the stalwarts of the programme.

I swore I wouldn't watch Call the Midwife after giving up a while ago but seem to be hooked lately. I wasn't a fan of the depiction of Jenny, or whatever actors call their interpretation.

SoupDragon · 09/02/2015 07:22

They've been ramping up the portrayal of DrT's smoking and next week apparently he has been "looking tired"

ShelaghTurner · 09/02/2015 08:17

They wouldn't dare Angry No I don't think its the smoking (which he's actually doing a lot less of this series). It's apparently something which has been an issue in s3 so has to be linked with his PTSD.

hackmum · 09/02/2015 08:44

BOFster: " I'm a bit Hmm at the incredibly progressive safe-sex radical nunning going on."

Me too. It's a bit ridiculous, all these nuns and doctors with their progressive views on condoms and homosexuality. Also, it really jarred with me at one point when one of the midwives (can't recall who) referred to "the baby's gender" rather than "the baby's sex". It's just not a word they'd have used in 1960.

Trixie and the curate are completely unsuited. He needs someone who likes making jam and making small talk with parishioners, she needs someone who has plenty of money and can keep her in nice outfits and haircuts.

A side note: I have just finished reading Letters to the Midwife, a collection of letters that people wrote to Jennifer Worth after the books were published. Quite a good read, with an intro by her husband and daughters. There are also a couple of pics of the real life Cynthia and Sister Julienne.

ppeatfruit · 09/02/2015 08:45

Has anyone who watched the first 2 of this series any idea how sister Monica Joan has most of her marbles back? I wondered if she'd under medication or anything . Either that or the continuity has gone sadly awry!

Anyone notice the actress who played Laura's mum in Larkrise also played the mum with the macho husband (who HAD to have a son) last night? I like her she's good.
