Morning all!

Orphan - sorry to hear about the mock stress. Did your son do ASs last summer? If so, how were those, because remember they are half of the A level. I'm aware not all schools do them in year 12 though - dd's does but ds's doesn't. My daughter did much much better in her ASs last summer than she did in the mocks - I do think there is an element of schools marking harshly. No mocks for her till February this year, so no A level stress here yet! We do on the other hand have twin boys caught up in the madness that is the SW London 11 plus scramble, with their second exam today. I must double away and get dressed, need to leave in 8 minutes!!

Back later!

cjwoofwoof · 08/01/2015 09:24

Morning everyone! icemist pic 2 is the nuts, he's such a handsome specimen in a headset, don't know why, sigh! Was thinking of having a phone ringtone for the MIL of "Don't get in-fu**ing- volved" and for DH of "I want you to be brilliant" but will probably settle for an overall "Brize Nor-hun, Brize Nor-Hun, Brize Nor-hun, even with a limp" for all callers. Now THAT should get some looks in the middle of Sainsburys!!

Nickel45 · 08/01/2015 09:34

Love those pictures too icemist. I like the headset one, but the first one where he is being all relaxed is really nice too. Sigh! I've been listening to more of my soundtrack on the way to work this morning, and have to say that the music for the show if f*g awesome .... just listening to it gives me goosebumps (not in a ff type of way, I hasten to add!).

I was at work yesterday (and today) and didn't pay proper attention to the posts, skim read them, trying to get myself back into work (as you can see, it isn't working ... why is this so stuck in my head?!). Anyway richtea, just wanted to say that you must be so proud of your DH. Hope it will inspire your DS to work hard, though?

Right, better get back to work ... apparently we aren't supposed to use the internet in the office ... oops!

Rhubarb01 · 08/01/2015 10:48

Morning All!

I am having a serious dilemma here thanks to all of you. I am so envious of all of you getting CJ to shout at you to answer your phone or alert you to texts etc. I am a bit in the dark ages with mobile communications. Obviously, I do use the internet but only do so when I am at home. On the whole its not a bad thing as when I'm not here or working I'm not distracted from anything else I'm doing BUT the temptation is now there to upgrade to the twenty first century (I do of course have a mobile just not 'super-dooper' as my Mum would say!).

I was very self-sacrificing at Christmas telling my DH and kids not to get me anything for various reasons and they all obeyed. Actually, I didn't mind because I seriously didn't need anything and I'm always telling them there's a big difference between need and want. However, I am now seriously in the WANT category. Should I treat myself? I can't use a birthday as an excuse as its not for a long time yet. Perhaps I could say its an early Mother's Day present?

Weighed against this is the possibility of getting seriously distracted when out and about and my family already think I'm pretty nuts - I hasten to add not 'the nuts'. This would just confirm all their suspicions.

You see what OG and CJ have done to me, forced me to confront the modern world and think about joining in. Dilemma!!

cherin · 08/01/2015 11:04

Ah, rhubarb, that's a dilemma....I have 2 smart phones, a personal one and a work one (on which, I have recently discovered, I have a 8Gb data allowance, which I would never, ever reach!!). The personal one is justified as I also run a small family business to the side (sounds dodgy but it's not, I swear!).
Bottom line is: my thumbs are getting longer by the day, my eyesight deteriorates and I can't tell off the kids for excessive screen time without being a big fat hypocrite. But I can't stop...;-)
As long as you choose with your eyes well open (aka knowing it's addictive), I'd say to go for it without worrying about occasions and expense etc.

smallandtriangular · 08/01/2015 13:34

Onlygirl the poor postman this morning looked seriously worried when I opened the door having just read the new Fanfic... As he is a man near to retirement I am fairly sure I wasn't about to jump him... then again he was a man....

Line that makes me laugh today is 'Feel those swans' (Smurf to Molly whilst going on R&R complete with arms in swan shapes)

To those with PhD knowledge, does CJ really flick his eyebrows in time with the words 'Cotton wool' when talking to Smurf about wrapping him up in it in episode 2?

Whistled 'DGBMH' very loudly on way to picking up smallest from pre-school without realising it , commented that 'I might as well be speaking Pashto'... to a fellow parent and finally told the forest school kids to ' double away'... Today is a very bad day in the world of nowhere near to dropping this obsession any time soon.... Can anyone suggest an additional obsession?

Nickel45 · 08/01/2015 13:41

Hi small, yes he does do his eyebrows in that scene, goodness knows why, but makes me laugh every time! I'm getting a bit addicted to bluestone, but not to the same extent, I think cos it reminds me of OG and it makes me laugh!! It's very easy to watch without concentrating too much! I tried watching Downton last night, which I used to really like, but I just couldn't get into it, and today couldn't tell you what happened in it!!

cjwoofwoof · 08/01/2015 13:45

small I suggest a second obsession is The Musketeers - D'Artagnan and Santiago get me through a RL week whilst I can still obsess about CJ in my parallel universe cyber week Grin. Can't wait for Wolf Hall to start either. Don't normally go for ginger eyelashes but Damian Thingy post Homeland is a little bit tasty these days...even as Henry VIII!

orphan · 08/01/2015 14:10

beingfrank ds did do ASs last year but unfortunately (due to a chronic lack of revision) didn't do as well as he should have. The teachers say he can still meet his target grades but he's def made it harder for himself. I'm afraid girlfriend, band, and the novelty of legal drinking are all higher priorities!

I don't think I could handle another obsession. As it is I'm seriously on the verge of chucking everything in and absconding to a hideaway (possibly a mountain chalet in Canada?) so I can indulge my CJ fixation without interruption.

cjwoof Damian Lewis - No! Haven't seen him recently (though heard him on Desert Island Discs and he was q funny) but I can't get out of my head the Homeland image of him, naked and pale, huddled in that derelict Caracas skyscraper. For some reason he reminded me of an uncooked sausage. However, if you want him to join the wrestlers, I'm prepared to cover my eyes! Just shout when he's done and it's Rupert's turn. Wink

Rhubarb01 · 08/01/2015 14:10

cherin many thanks for advice. Will continue to consider.

CJWoof second the advice. All for one in particular! I also agree on liking Damian Lewis. I have always liked him since Band of Brothers (not the Forsyte Saga - but that showed what a very good actor he is!). He did a great job of playing Dick Winters looking dogged and determined and wearing combats! Given that he was portraying a real life person and I've read the book - he did a fantastic job. I have to say however, that Henry VIII always brings visions of a fat man in tights! I assume Damian is portraying the younger more vital version. I also like Damian when he's hosted 'Have I got news for you' a couple of times. Dry wit! Lets put Damian somewhere in the naked firelight wrestling scene too!!

pixieg1rl · 08/01/2015 14:33

elsie thank you so much for the regulation 6 boot clip. I've listened more times this morning than is healthy. God, I love the way he says 'arses'

orphan · 08/01/2015 14:34

Ha! rhubarb we posted at the same time. Looks like I'm going to have to invest in a blindfold...

cjwoofwoof · 08/01/2015 14:39

Agreed orphan the uncooked sausage Damian was not a good look, but I thought he was v.tasty in current series when Carrie was hallucinating and thinking he was in the room with her when in fact it was the luscious Raza Jaffrey she was clinging on to (who I believe is already in the naked wrestling ring). Some girls have all the luck!

cjwoofwoof · 08/01/2015 14:45

Just had a random idea - shall we make it blindfolded naked wrestling? That'd make it a whole new ball bag coz the spectators could accidentally fall into the ring mid-wrestle and CJ would have no idea who he was lunging at.

orphan · 08/01/2015 14:47

cjwoof Homeland's doing quite well isn't it, with 3 in front of the fire?! Let's draw the line at Saul though, however much I like his character. Actually, I could probably lift my blindfold up if The Sausage was in his Band of Brothers incarnation.

cjwoofwoof · 08/01/2015 14:47

Bagsy I go first as it was my idea...Grin

cjwoofwoof · 08/01/2015 14:54

orphan you crack me up, just spluttered coffee all over DSs iPad! Of course Sauls NOT invited to the wrestling, there are limits to my desperation fascination with the male naked body you know, and Saul does not tick any boxes for me in that department. Way too hairy/old/grizzled. Maybe he could serve drinks at a push, just so he's not left out of the Homeland fest.

orphan · 08/01/2015 14:56

Blindfolding the wrestlers, whilst certainly affording us certain opportunities to grope, might lead to rather unfortunate grapplings though. I wouldn't want The Bulge to be accidentally damaged in any way...

cjwoofwoof · 08/01/2015 15:03

Well we can't wrap him/it up in cotton wool (eyebrows raised in sync) can we? Then again any unfortunate grapplings to the nether regions could indeed be gently soothed, bathed and wrapped...by me...whilst he remains blindfolded (wouldn't want to scare him).

orphan · 08/01/2015 15:11

Mmm, might look into getting first aid training so that I can be the official first aider.

Beingfrank · 08/01/2015 15:14

Now back home with more time than usual. I'm going to finally have a chance to read some more of the fanfic.

Orphan - I really hope he can pull it all together for the real exams. My daughter has a newly acquired boyfriend, and turned 18 at the weekend so perhaps I should be worried! On the other hand the boyfriend isn't 18 for a long time so he may be a good thing in terms of the drinking angle. Has he got uni offers to aim for? That might help focus his attention, if he has. DD cannot wait to get away from her annoying brothers and is very determined to make her grades.

I had another dream involving CJ last night. Details are a bit sketchy but I was sitting with others at a round table looking at some sort of map or chart, and he leaned right over me and sort of pressed against me, to look at the chart. The rest of the dream was taken up with realising the CJ bit had been a dream, and trying to get chance to post and tell you lot about it - so it was a dream within a dream! Very odd and rather worrying! I do remember it felt very good when he pressed against me, I could feel everything iykwim (operation bulge!). How barking mad does this make me sound - I have never ever had dreams about a fictional character before, honestly. And that was before reading most of the fanfic!

pixieg1rl · 08/01/2015 15:15

I'm prescribing a dose of bromide tea all round!

Richtea19 · 08/01/2015 15:25

Havinf a very late lunch and spat out my sandwich as I read "uncooked sausage" in reference to Damian Lewis! I do agree, blonde eyelashes, non existent eyebrows, not really my ball bag, but like Nicholas Witchell.

I haven't got round to sorting out ringtone, I really want to but I have seriously had to put my obsession to bed, in terms of RL. I think it would be a bit of a give away, if when my DS calls and it says "put some bloody effort in", although I do mean it! I think I will just do continue with the sounds bites.

rhubarb regarding upgrading your phone, you will have to consider that you will be constantly looking at this thread while on the move.....

Richtea19 · 08/01/2015 15:26

Must define, "like Nicholas Witchell", only in a reporting factual way, NO OTHER WAY!!!

Richtea19 · 08/01/2015 15:28

orphan can I please come with you to the Candian Mountain Retreat? Need to get away from RL, we can practice measuring techniques, ring each other with our OG ring tones and discuss OG /CJ all day long :)
