Sparkling yes it's very true. My problem is that my DH is Aussie and HIS people are missing him and have done for many years now. His Dad isn't well either. My Mum's not in the best health but she's clogging on...she works etc. His Dad has cancer. I have to be tough because it's so hard on DH....I've had to weigh up all the balance and see that for him, DH I mean...these next few years could be his Dad's last.

Sparklingbrook · 07/01/2015 10:30

MrsT that sounds like a really tough situation. You must both be very torn, but understandable decision in those circumstances.

MuddhaOfSuburbia · 07/01/2015 10:32

good luck to all of you

Anyone else watching today? Dreams of Oz fuelled by Neighbours and Home and Away Confused

floellabenjaminsearrings · 08/01/2015 09:27

I quite like that they are honest about the fact that all their images come from soap operas. I don't know why though, as soon as people announce they want a pool, they dip slightly in my estimations.

Vagndidit · 08/01/2015 09:27

Love the families who want to move to a place they've never visited...

KnappShappeyShipwright · 08/01/2015 09:28

It's going to be a good episode for WDU Bingo. I've got work/life balance, outdoor lifestyle and swimming pool in the first 5 minutes! Not sure what jobs they are looking for, but I do wonder if they've looked for work with more sociable hours locally? Also not sure what stage of education the eldest daughter is at, surely she's heading towards GCSEs?

floellabenjaminsearrings · 08/01/2015 09:29

Normally I'd agree, but this time there isn't one parent who is absolutely convinced that it is the only place to be, to the point of making everyone else miserable. These people seem like they just fancy the idea and they are checking it out.

RufusTheReindeer · 08/01/2015 09:30

Going to start housework so won't be watching much more but their main problem with the uk seems to be that she works week days and he works nights and evenings

Am I missing something? Can he not get a similar job during the day.? I am probably maligning the man and he has been looking for new jobs for ages

If I was on this show I would be moving purely for the weather Grin

Vagndidit · 08/01/2015 09:30

Is there a strong market for pizza makers in OZ do you reckon...? ;)

LegsOfSteel · 08/01/2015 09:31

I understand the appeal of moving to a country with nicer weather but if the main problem is not having family time then surely the easiest solution would be for Dad to find a day-shift job in Glasgow. Maybe that is easier said than done - but you'd imagine it'd be financially, emotionally easier than moving to the other side of the world.

RufusTheReindeer · 08/01/2015 09:31

We did think of Australia a few years ago before we hit 40

But y children are not good in the heat...and ds1 is so white and gets burnt so easily that making him live in a hot country is probably tantamount to child abuse

floellabenjaminsearrings · 08/01/2015 09:34

I wonder if he owns the franchise or something, and they are just painting him as working in a takeaway? Not that there is anything wrong with working as a pizza maker, but he just looks a little older than our local ones and they can afford a very nice house in the uk.

floellabenjaminsearrings · 08/01/2015 09:40

Ah area manager

susiedaisy · 08/01/2015 09:40

I'm watching. Nice family but they do have very high standards for their home. I'd be thrilled with what they have in Scotland.

susiedaisy · 08/01/2015 09:41

Ah area manager

LegsOfSteel · 08/01/2015 09:43

Thought they'd use gloves while making pizzas.

susiedaisy · 08/01/2015 09:44

Sensible couple

susiedaisy · 08/01/2015 09:45

Oh great another wildlife park

LoisWilkerson15 · 08/01/2015 09:52

Double the mortgage term! No thanks!

susiedaisy · 08/01/2015 09:53

It could work for them if they lived in a more modest house in Australia

MuddhaOfSuburbia · 08/01/2015 09:54
susiedaisy · 08/01/2015 09:55

Did I miss her parents on the video??

KnappShappeyShipwright · 08/01/2015 09:57

Did I miss something, or were there no family messages for the mum?

MuddhaOfSuburbia · 08/01/2015 09:57

There's more than five of us in the family
