I think it starts next week.

The house is close to where my parents grew up and I know the road well. It's a stunning setting. It says the house was listed on right move in July 2014.

Having said that about the setting, I'm not sure id like to be on that road, it's busy and cars go too fast. Can see why the estate agent commented about traffic noise.

I can't stand episodes with blended families. Even if the families have combined successfully they are often leaving some kids behind/ taking a child away from a parent. I don't think it's right.

I couldn't warm to these to. He seemed more interested in his dead great grandad than his grown up kids.

It seemed a very strange one to me. Not at all straightforward when there are stepchildren and other parents and grandparents to consider.

Good spot about the house. I see it was listed for £645,000 back in 2010 with all the same furnishings and renovations, so that's probably why they thought it was worth £650,000. Bit of a pill to swallow to find out that you're around £75,000 out and on the downside too.

I hate all the financial comparisons they do. The family would be £xx better off in Australia, but that's including a full time salary for someone who doesn't currently work here

Why the money focus? At some point surely, you've got enough and you need to think about other stuff. Didn't this show, about three years ago, introduce the families to people who had made the move? Makes it a bit more real, I thoughts.

I missed the start Sparkling, so not quite sure of the family ties to the statue. Contemplating watching the beginning, but prob cba!

G.g. Grandfather was Aussie war hero and helped establish city of Perth. He always felt a connection to him and the city on that basis.

Is it awful for them? It's just facing the reality of how their actions affect other people. The son being left by his father is much worse than poor dad having to see his son saddened by his actions via a DVD.

It's just looking like scare tactics tv though. I must've missed something, why can't his son go?

And I agree, it looks like the son is having a terrible time coming to terms with it. But my point is, surely they have already contemplated this? Discussed it as a family? I would like to see the show focus on how Aussie life could fit the family...almost looking at the second stage, how to go about fitting into a new life down under. Maybe I should watch something else but I would like to see a determined family come up against the brick walls that aus throws up, not the initial will we-won't we dilemma. Frankly, I don't always believe that it is a will they-won't they. Let's be truthful, say we all want to go and then no show us voyeurs a show about how they fall on their feet or flat on their faces once they have work trials, school trials and actually go grocery shopping rather than sit at a kitchen table.
It's just a thought......

His elder 2 were from a prev relationship. They probably don't want to leave their mum in uk to join dads new family in oz.

Having kids is always a good way to make new connections, especially if you have no extended family. Not sure I would go that far though, a new baby at 44 would do me in!
Wonder how people afford their new life (if the numbers were marginal) if one partner gives up work to go on maternity.
I think a family where there are multiple kids from multiple relationships are probably on a hiding to nothing if they think it can work leaving/ taking some kids and not others. There is no ideal solution, someone is always unhappy.

Just watching now. Slightly bitchy comment, but if hope they know how much orthodontic treatment is, just looking at the kids teeth!

Yeah I'm not done judging the adults who clearly had an affair.

Not being nasty about her, she was lovely, but it is a fact that her teeth need work. And that's not cheap anywhere. I often wonder if these occasional large expenses are ever factored in, like a set of new tyres, winter coats, new tv, school trips, vet bills etc. We all have them but wouldn't think to include them on a weekly budget.
