Bit of a weepy one today. Sad

Weeping Sad

Vagndidit · 19/01/2015 09:27

Refreshing to see a family with modest tastes--not banging on about things not being big or glossy enough.

susiedaisy · 19/01/2015 09:33

Can't watch it this morning so have recorded it to watch later.

busyme23 · 19/01/2015 09:40

I missed the beginning, could someone please explain why it's weepy. They seem like a nice family.

Rivercam · 19/01/2015 09:47

The daughter had cancer, and is now in remission.

Interesting this week, more UK votes than usual. It's a big decesion to leave the army and emigrate. My cousin left the army and moved to Australia, and had trouble getting a job, despite his qualifications.

busyme23 · 19/01/2015 09:48

Thank you Rivercam

TrendStopper · 19/01/2015 09:52

I quite like this family. They aren't doing it for the typical work/life balance. They are doing it for their daughters health.

On a side note could someone tell me if Fraja is a made up spelling of Freya?

I don't like the 'the family have chosen to watch videos from home together' bit

it seems manipulative

can the family CHOOSE to have the kids not watch? It always looks to me as though they want the shot of the children crying

specially today

Sad
Vagndidit · 19/01/2015 10:01

Not an NHS slam, but It seems like Australia may have better medical resources to deal with Fraja's cancer, should it return. Seems like a no-brainer to me to go.

HollyJollyDillydolly · 19/01/2015 10:01

Lovely family. They're looking at Australia because their dd won't get treatment in the UK if she relapsed. Only America and Australia offer treatment if that type of cancer returns. My friends dd had neuroblastoma that returned and they fundraised like crazy to fund her treatment abroad. Unfortunately she was too poorly to travel so passed away :(

Theas18 · 19/01/2015 10:01

Just caught the end of frajas story. What happens if her cancer relapses medically? Would the Aussie health care system pick up the costs of treatment?

MuddhaOfSuburbia · 19/01/2015 10:03

update on fb says they've gone

best of luck to them

Theas18 · 19/01/2015 10:03

Xposts! So if they lived there the Aussie system would both treat her in a way not available in the uk and fund it? Absolute no brainier

Rivercam · 19/01/2015 10:15

According to the BBC website, the husband has a job in IT in the Australien army. I hope it works out for them. There's an update inFebruary, but they only went in October. It'll be nice to catch up with this family in 5-10 years to see how they are getting on.

HollyJollyDillydolly · 19/01/2015 10:18

Really hope they're enjoying their new life in Oz, hope Fraja continues to stay healthy.

nonicknameseemsavailable · 19/01/2015 14:16

I think Fraja might be a traditional Scandinavian spelling of Freya. I think they would spell it with a j rather than a y because of the way their pronounce j in their languages. Not sure though. I have never seen it spelt like that, just guessing.

nonicknameseemsavailable · 19/01/2015 14:17

www.facebook.com/FrajaEllieAppeal

google just gave me this when I was googling spelling of Fraja

I am appalled that there isn't any second treatment over here.

and it now seems really obvious why there is quite alot of fundraising for children in that situation. I've never really put 2 + 2 together.

But a lovely family - I think this is the first family this series to have actually gone.

But if Nicky Chapman says someone fell pregnant again I might just smash the screen. She ruins it IMHO.

TrendStopper · 20/01/2015 06:55

No nickname - thanks for the explanation, I have never seen it spelt like that before.

Fur - there have been a few families who have emigrated this series.

Vagndidit · 20/01/2015 09:18

Oh goodie, looks like today's another "never been but quite fancy a free holiday want to move across the world" delusion.

Unexpected · 20/01/2015 09:23

How did this couple ever get to the stage of getting married when he is so determined to emigrate and she really, really doesn't want to go? Maybe before they got married would have been a better time to try getting this out of their system?!

Sparklingbrook · 20/01/2015 09:23

Morning! this one had dis-arst-er written all over it.....
