anonacfr · 25/10/2014 18:34

I'll see what I can do!

Next time we're talking about cool best friend stuff over coffee I'll bring it up. :o

To be fair to Reedus I think the Beth-DARRYL centric episodes were a flop because of her (she is a wooden actress with the sAme wide eyed look for grief, anger, sadness) and the script.
They went totally against character by trying to create a weird bond between them that felt totally contrived and completely against what DARRYL had been about for the past 4 seasons.

I think it's more of a brother/sister kind of relationship.

I think that fits in with his character more.

I will be disappointed if he and Carol end up together.

Monroe · 25/10/2014 19:19

Beyond Is she really? So there's hope for thingy ma bob too. Although I do feel they could be a likely candidate if someone is to go. Is Dale still alive too? I'm guessing he didn't die the way he did on the show.

I found the scenes with Daryl and Beth a bit meh to be honest. I also think it's Beth. I just can't muster up any emotion about her either way. Daryl on the other hand has had me in tears more than once. My favourite scene was in the prison after the walkers were let in and Lori died and Carol was missing and Daryl thought she'd been bit and he'd found her trapped in a room and he was going to have to finish her. And the scene where he found walker Merle was heartbreaking Sad

CheerfulYank · 25/10/2014 23:50

Agree Anona. It wasn't really his fault. As far as I know, I didn't really watch them.

I will be hideously disappointed if he and Caryl don't end up together at some point, but not any time soon. I can bide my time. I waited how long for Mulder and Scully... Wink

A teenage girl once tweeted me that I was jealous of Emily Kinney for being young. A) I hadn't said a word against her and B) she is 29 and I am 32. :o

I just hate the whole business. Reminds me of high school and two girls and all their friends falling out over some stupid boy. Ugh.

Tallalime · 26/10/2014 01:05

Everything I have seen/read suggests that Gareth is gone after episode 3.

I think (based on nothing but my own supposition) that either Carol or Beth will die. And either Maggie or Glenn during this season.

I hope it is Beth... because I LOVE Carol. She is ace.

RayaCarmen · 26/10/2014 01:19

What makes you think that Tallalime?

It's true that he is now a series regular, which would mean hes in most (if not all) the episodes this season.

He's credited on imdb until at least episode 16.

I agree Cheerful Yank this whole relationship stuff reminds me of the 'pick me dance' I have often read about on Mumsnet. I think that's why I find it so distasteful atm.

Like Carol and Beth are both being used to make Darryl more complex/extend his character. It's not about them it's all about him. The age old women only existing in reflection of a man. Whereas really I want them to say 'You know what, wash, cut your hair and maybe but mm actually Rick looks much better or Tyrese. He's nice and he saved the baby'.

I have read Norman Reedus say he has a tempestuous relationship in real life with Melissa McBride.

CheerfulYank · 26/10/2014 04:50

Really, guaranteed? Everything I've read
which is embarrassingly extensive has suggested that they're good friends. They've tweeted pictures from the same car, etc. He's said she's his favorite actress to work with (this was a few years back). I saw a panel recently where MMB started to cry because she was so proud of Carol and after the question had moved on Norman walked over to her for a quick hug and kissed her on the cheek.

They all seem quite close, Steven and Chad (Glenn and Tyreese) especially love Melissa and I think Norman and Andrew are really close. And everyone loved Scott (Hershel), who wouldn't?! :o Also one of Carol/Melissa's biggest supporters is still Laurie Holden, who played Andrea. They're friends in real life. At a panel recently someone said "it's like Carol took your place" (meaning comic book Andrea, I think) and she said "Oh. Because I think Carol took her own place, actually." :)

The thing I hate about it all is the backlash Carol gets for making decisions. It's like no one knows what to do with her because she isn't a man and she isn't a stereotypically beautiful 20 something woman. Argghhhh!

But anyway it's midnight and I need to step off my soapbox while I still can. Blush But I'll leave you this picture because awwwwwww.

WALKING DEAD! WALKING DEAD! WALKING DEAD!
guaranteedpersonality · 26/10/2014 05:34

Sorry I didn't mean they aren't close or don't get on full stop just that their relationship can be stormy. I've seen a few comments like the one below - but I'm sure that by this this stage it's a very tight knit cast.

(I think Sasha is taking Andrea's place in the comics.)

'Asked by Entertainment Weekly what it is like for Daryl to be reunited with Carol, the 45-year-old actor replied: "There's a certain familiarity with those two characters and there's a certain yin-and-yang element to them, [laughs] which flip-flops every 5 minutes. Sort of like me and Melissa, to be honest."
"I mean, I love Melissa, she's fun to work with. And at the same time we'll scream at each other - I mean, as soon as the camera stops rolling, we'll start yelling at each other, and then we'll be back to normal like in two seconds," he explained. "It's a very tight bond those two have. There's a mutual respect for each other."

CheerfulYank · 26/10/2014 05:50

Oh yes, I read that quote! Interesting. Oh to be a fly on the wall...

Last year on April Fool's my merry band of pranksters and I created a false report saying the two of them had eloped...no one bought it of course, but Melissa tweeted a picture of two pairs of legs on the beach and said they were enjoying the honeymoon. :o

BingoBonkers · 26/10/2014 07:46

Finally seen the episode.

My thoughts are:

FG wouldn't let people in the church when the walkers attacked
Bob emotional because despite the brief spell of happiness the world they live in is exhausting and no solution in sight
Where was Judith when they were walking through the woods? I didn't see anyone carrying her
Eugene is full of crap
Micchone remembering Herschel and Andrea was lovely
Carole was setting up the car ready to move on maybe?

Can anyone tell me who Dale is? Wasn't he the guy with the camper van?

The Carol and Sophia series was amazing. Utterly heartbreaking when she came out of the barn.

Really not getting the Reedus attraction. I want to give him a good scrub with bleach! Grubby and grotty.

rallytog1 · 26/10/2014 08:30

Dale was indeed the guy with the camper van. He got eaten by a walker that Coral enticed onto Hershel's farm. However, that was a departure from Dale's storyline in the comics.

BingoBonkers · 26/10/2014 11:44

That's right! Thank you bloody Coral

limitedperiodonly · 26/10/2014 11:53

Dale's death was tragic. Who was it who put him out of his misery? Was it Daryl?

I hated Coral so much for that, but it was very realistic. Taunting a walker stuck in the mud would be exactly the kind of thing a bored 12 year old boy would do.

I read that there was a departure from the comics (which I haven't read) because the actor who played Dale was loyal to Frank Darabont, and when he was ousted, the actor didn't want to continue.

They definitely made the best of it.

susiedaisy · 26/10/2014 12:33

I liked Dale he was the groups social conscious trying to keep hold off humanity. Shane hated him. Not sure Dale would've coped with life as it is now in TWD.

RayaCarmen · 26/10/2014 13:40

They change a lot from the comic, most likely so it won't be predictable.

In the comic Sophia and Andrea never turned.
Judith died when Lori fell on her trying to escape.
Dale and Andrea had a relationship.

I believe they are using the storyline that was Dales for Bob.

McGlashan · 26/10/2014 15:44

I just caught up last night.
Who the hell doesn't know they've had their leg cut off. Not even - 'what a strange pain I have in my leg' or 'Oh I feel a bit woozy what with all the blood loss from my amputated limb'.

I thought Bob had been bitten as well. If he hasn't what was with all the teary goodbye stuff at the church.

RayaCarmen · 26/10/2014 15:55

Heres my theory.

Bob was bitten, the Termites eat his infected body and now they could possibly turn.

Gareth joins Ricks group to Washington to find a cure before he turns.

BingoBonkers · 26/10/2014 17:34

I really don't see Gareth being welcome with Rick and his gang. Gareth is not trustworthy and a loose canon.

RayaCarmen · 26/10/2014 19:11

Lol well no I don't think he will be welcomed into the group with open arms but...

On the trailer Gareth says something along the lines of - We go to Washington together, you don't have any other choice.

I've have no idea why they have no choice but that will probably reveal itself in the next episode.
