Can you tell I am excited? Grin

I have five words.

DO. NOT. KILL. THE. BABY.

Or Glenn.
However please feel free to kill off annoying soppy Beth. Quickly.

I liked Glenn a lot in series 1 and 2 but he has been very quiet. What happened to the sparky kid who was about the only one nimble and quick enough to carry out raids on walker-infested supply depots, etc? He hardly even speaks now.

guaranteedpersonality · 25/10/2014 12:58

McNulty and Rick - now that is definitely my type of show.

I think (hope!) Carol's more popular than you think anonacfr - . But I agree she is detached...almost like she's heading towards a depressive episode? (unsurprising really).

guaranteedpersonality · 25/10/2014 13:03

All the Black male actors (except Morgan) are now from The Wire - Bob, Tyresse and Father Gabriel it's really quite amazing.

anonacfr · 25/10/2014 13:52

Character arc is complete- that is exactly it.

I thought Carol was v popular but from what I've heard of this ship war business I am now starting to think it might not be the case.

The other women are more common female stereotypes. Carol doesn't fit the bill in that sense, which I was I think she would be the easiest woman to get rid of on the show.

I would hate for her to go. Specially to be replaced with snivelling awful Beth. Seriously for two seasons the only things Beth did were sing cry and hold the baby. No one wanted to know more about her- I don't think I even remembered her name until last season.
And now we're expected to be emotionally invested in her? No thanks.

She genuinely ruined Darryl for me last season.

Well, i know who's going (and how) if they stick with the comics, but genuinely have no idea if this will be one of those things where they stick with the comic and shock the tv audience, or change it and shock those who have read the comics too...?

And anon, yes it does hurt Grin Wink

anonacfr · 25/10/2014 14:55

I'd stick to a nice grassy field. Grin

Speaking of shock has anyone played (yes I am computer nerd) the Telltale Walking Dead PC game? It's absolutely amazing. The graphics are v comic like and you meet some characters from the show.
The guy you play basically has to make some life or death decisions and what he chooses gets people killed. The story, voice acting and characters are fantastic- It had me in tears in some parts.
For anyone who like computer games I recommend it thoroughly.

That sounds good, similar to something I was going to get my nephew, but he was only nine and I thought my BIL and SIL might object. The Walking Dead show wasn't out then, but maybe it was based on the comics or something completely different.

I don't play computer games - but I'm nerdy. I have The Walking Dead board game, but no one will play it with me Sad. It probably is a bit crap.

BeyondPreparedForHell · 25/10/2014 16:05

It is good, we have it on the playstation. First episode is free on apple atm too and i have it on my ipad :)

BrittanyRose · 25/10/2014 16:29

Gareth was promoted to series regular. So obviously he is going to feature in the majority of the episodes this season.

Its very obvious that Gabriel left everyone in the town to die while he stayed locked in the church. Really doesn't take a genius to work that one out.

Hate it when people say - oooh I 've already seen the next episode, its good and I will say no more.

And what? No one cares, screams of attention seeking and that you want people to beg you to tell them what happens.

Grin i love it (and i havent seen e3 yet btw) when someone says how someone is obviously going to be around for a while in this show.
Almost as much as when they say it with GoT.

CheerfulYank · 25/10/2014 16:54

Carol is actually extremely popular, just not among certain teenage girls who are rather creepily obsessed with Norman Reedus.

Melissa McBride is a huge draw at conventions and is the only one to win an acting award so far, I think. Critics adored her in the Lizzie episode and she got the best reviews of anyone thus far.

I'm worried about her too, though. :( I'd honestly rather anyone died. Especially Beth, even though I like her. She's so boring to me.

MMB was still filming quite late as far as I know, so I think she makes it past the half season finale at least, which is usually their "big" death.

anonacfr · 25/10/2014 17:04

The Lizzie episode broke my heart. I was traumatised.

The scene when they walk back towards the house and the idyllic surroundings and the petty picnic blanket and then you realise something is terribly wrong... It was painful.
I think MMB is fantastic. She has a such a gorgeous childlike smile.

Andrew Lincoln is underrated IMO. He's had some seriously heavy scenes and has done really well. Sometimes I look at him and I have a flashback to Egg cooking naked under his apron dancing along in his kitchen. Grin

Reedus has gone downhill since season 4. He's started showing his age particularly when next to Beth. He needs a serious haircut too.

Not sure if you are referring to what I said about Gareth. If you are then what I said is based on facts. He was upgraded to series regular, so he's hardly going to die in the next episode.

I don't know whether he will make it to season 6, but yes he will be in a large part of this season.

BeyondPreparedForHell · 25/10/2014 17:07

Oh yeah, of course, it breaks for a bit doesnt it. Hmm. I'm a little thrown as to who's gonna die, because the person in the comics that i wondered if it might be them, doesnt die for a while yet. So if they're not introducing negan for at least another season, then maybe it cant be them. And in that case, i genuinely have no clue.

limitedperiodonly · 25/10/2014 17:11

That Lizzie episode was outstanding CY.

On 24, I think it was season 3, there was a leak and the producers killed off a character in vengeance because they were angry about leaks.

I don't think the cast member who was killed off was responsible for the leak. I think it was more that the show runners wanted to show that they were in charge and just killed the character.

It was very dramatic and lifted a dull series, but I did feel sorry for the person as someone just trying to pay the mortgage.

CheerfulYank · 25/10/2014 17:12

With you on all counts Anona. I hate when older men do not realize that standing next to very young women (both professionally and personally for our Mr Reedus Wink) has a terribly aging effect on them.

I think MMB is gorgeous too...I wish they'd let her wear something not the color of mud. She's adorable in RL. Also she tweeted me once and follows me on the Twitter so we are obviously best friends. :o

CheerfulYank · 25/10/2014 17:14

Yy Limited. Robert Kirkman is the worst kind of troll, always talking about "well we COULD do this" just to be very big and clever and In Charge. I'm quite bitter with him for his handling of the ship situation.

BeyondPreparedForHell · 25/10/2014 17:19

Brittany, do you mean to sound so shitty in your posts? I'm not sure where its coming from? I apologise if it is just the way i'm reading them - i have been throwing up nonstop for two day and not had much sleep, so may be seeing something that is not ther Blush

anonacfr · 25/10/2014 17:56

Ok two things Cheerful. I want to hear more about this ship cast controversy.
What did Reedus and Kirkman say?

And can you tweet MMB and tell her to follow me? I want to be her best friend too! Grin

Seriously though. My two fave female TV characters are Diane Lockhart and Carol Peltier. They both rule.

OP posts:
BrittanyRose · 25/10/2014 17:57

do you mean to sound so shitty in your posts?

Is that the new take on the amazing "did you mean to be so rude?"

Fine. I'll leave this thread since I'm not welcomed to join in the discussion.

Monroe · 25/10/2014 18:12

Cheerful I love your devotion to mmb, and I also think she is very pretty and an amazing actress. Were you the poster who was going to meet Reedus? Did it happen in the end?

And I agree Andrew Lincoln / Rick is mine underrated. For me he is the best character on the show. I love Darryl too. The way he is so confident in some situations and yet so vulnerable almost shy when it comes to relationships.

Beyond I think I know the character you're referring to. I stupidly googled Negan then lost all my will power and carried on reading.

BeyondPreparedForHell · 25/10/2014 18:14
Confused

You accused someone of attention seeking in one post then sounded rude in another? The second was aimed at me so i wondered if i was mis-reading it. I fully acknowledged that it may be me as I've been ill and am running on no sleep, but now you're having a full on strop about it? Okaaay.

BeyondPreparedForHell · 25/10/2014 18:18

I'm hoping they don't stick to the comics on that, monroe. After all, andrea is still alive in them (last i saw, anyway) Grin

CheerfulYank · 25/10/2014 18:29

Reedus has said that he fought against it, but at other times has said he'd be open to it, even said "when Daryl and Carol happen", and always talks about how amazing Carol/Melissa is, etc etc. As far as Beth he has said that " oh she's super cute, that'd be great" and also expressed irritation at people wanting Carl and Beth to get together because "they're not the same age!" He got angry one time and said the show isn't about ships, etc etc. He also gets really edgy when anyone insinuates that he isn't a 20 something. Hmm But then, when he was on twitter and trying to win votes for something he would post lots of pictures of Daryl and Carol together, then Daryl and Beth in order to win votes.

I think the backlash from the two Daryl and Beth centric episodes really shook him. They were (and this is all not-verified info here) supposed to be his big acting moments...but people really didn't like them. Whereas Carol's main episode (the Grove) is hugely well received and critically acclaimed.

In addition, people have been trying to say "well we don't know how old Daryl is, he could be early 30s" in order to down age him into a more appropriate age bracket for Beth. But as Daryl has clear memories of Merle at juvie, that only works if you buy Merle as being early 40s and puhhhh-leaaase. Grin

I like Reedus, I really do. He seems kind and is a devoted father. I paid stupid money to meet him once (it ended up being canceled :( ). But he thrives on attention from fans. He is, from what I hear, extremely nice to everyone. He does seem to interact most (as in twitter messages etc) with young female fans. Not dodgily young and I'm not suggesting (nor do I believe) that he's a predator in any way. He just seems quite immature (in a Peter Pan sort of way) and likes to feel young and cool and relevant.

As far as Kirkman goes, he just has an...attitude. Like everyone last season saying Terminus would be cannibals. He practically kicked his feet and stomped and said "they're not cannibals they're NOT you have no idea what big clever idea I have!" :o When of course...well you know.

With ships he says things like "oh we are keeping Beth and Daryl ambiguous..." And then will say things about him and Carol, etc. He loves the buzz surrounding it and his show.
