I've got about three episodes left. I've enjoyed it so much. I love Peter Krause and I'm up to date with Parenthood. Should I try Dexter?

Yes definitely to Dexter.

American Horror Story is good too.

Onedropoflove · 07/10/2014 19:47

I've seen American Horror story. I'm dreading watching the sat few Six Feets it's a strange feeling getting to the end of something! The actors are all so fantastic.

I've not seen that yet.

We had marathon sessions of Dexter Grin

itstheyearzero · 07/10/2014 19:50

Loved Six Feet Under and the last episode left me an emotional wreck!

Onedropoflove · 07/10/2014 19:55

Oh god don't say that. I'm working tomorrow morning and I was debating whether to watch three back to back tonight. I only wanted one glass of wine!,, how much weed do they all smoke? Do you think they use pretendy marijuana they all look as if they know what they are doing!

I loved 6 feet under! Watched the last episode 3 times, emotional wreck here too!

Dexter is very very good, but was weird at first to get used to him not being David! And then to realise how yummy he is! Grin

Since then have watched The Sopranos (again!)
Then Mad Men
And am now on season 2 of Boardwalk Empire, its really good!

Onedropoflove · 07/10/2014 20:07

I'm up to date with Boardwalk.

I've seen The Sopeanos it's probably my favourite show ever. I'm watching it off the second time but as and when I couldn't do it one after the other. I loved Brothers and Sisters.

It's taken a long time for Brenda to grow on me.

Aw, I love Six Feet Under. I wish I could experience watching the ending again for the first time, enjoy it!

I'm struggling to think of series that are similar. Ooh, how about The Good Wife, it has some of the same sense of poise and style as Six Feet Under, great relationships between characters, some really strong and interesting female characters too. Plus it has that rare quality of seeming to get better and better as the seasons go on!

Dexter was good, but very different in tone and really goes off the rails in the last few seasons.

sallysimpson · 07/10/2014 20:42

I loved six feet under I SOBBED for about a good half hour after watching the final, I couldn't breathe! HAnds down the best final episode of any TV series

Dexter was fab at the beginning..not so much by the end, Sopranos - fantastic!, ORange is the new black took me by suprise, I really enjoyed it once I got past the pilot.

Onedropoflove · 07/10/2014 20:43

What about the one with the Mormons (I think)?

evelynj · 07/10/2014 20:43

Loved it, love the good wife. Love dexter, agree that last couple of seasons drag a bit.

Twin peaks! And it's coming back, hurrah!

Seinfeld, curb your enthusiasm, house of cards, orange is the new black. Watching with interest, (while watching 1st series of damages-8.1 on imdb but the acting isn't great & there's 5 series, I'm already invested in the first 8 episodes & wish I hadn't started. It's a quandry-I don't like to leave a job half finished)

evelynj · 07/10/2014 20:43

Ooh, big love-it's good too.

Onedropoflove · 07/10/2014 20:45

Damages was fab but I never liked the second season.

Nurse Jackie is brilliant and rarely gets a mention. Def Dexter.

Onedropoflove · 07/10/2014 20:50

I should like nurse Jackie as I love Edie. She will always be Carmela to me though! Isn't it funny how it takes you ages to get over the actors in a different part?

OP posts:
MeganChips · 07/10/2014 20:50

OP, the final episode is brilliant, as is the whole series.

Other great series:

Breaking Bad - the best in my opinion
Orange is the new black
Sons of Anarchy
Dexter - yes, but only up to the end of series 5
Buffy - one of the all time greats! Story arc and some of the individual episodes are brilliant.
Lost
Firefly
Gavin and Stacey

evelynj · 07/10/2014 20:54

Yy to nurse Jackie. Hells Bells you thought 2nd season of damages was bad. Tbh I'm finding the first abysmal.

Masters of sex is good.
Game of thrones
Breaking bad
True detective
Top of the lake
Arrested development
The returned

Onedropoflove · 07/10/2014 21:13

Love Masters of Sex. I don't know anyone else that watches it. What about Big Love?

OP posts:
evelynj · 07/10/2014 21:20

It's Chloe Sevigny, Jennifer Goodwin & some others-polygamists. I enjoyed it, but this was quite a while ago. I also really liked a couple of series of the l word, (happened to be on tv at the time but never pursued subsequent series)

The borgias is good. Started watching arrested development from the start again 10 minutes ago & I love it

The wire
Mad men

CleverPlansAndSecretTricks · 07/10/2014 21:21

First couple of seasons of Big Love are good but after that it seemed to drag a bit and I stopped watching.

What about True Blood? I just have the very last episode of Season 7 left to watch and I wish I could watch it all again for the first time.

Also, if you've never watched them: The West Wing and House of Cards

Onedropoflove · 07/10/2014 21:42

Seen House of Cards and Mad Men. I seem to watch a lot of telly!

OP posts:
Onedropoflove · 07/10/2014 21:46

OMG Nates dead!

OP posts:
TheysayIamparanoid · 07/10/2014 22:37

Seeing his funeral made me decide that's what I want, told my kids years ago! (am not morbid, honestly!)
Haven't seen Brothers and Sisters, will be next on my list!
YY to Sons of Anarchy and Game of Thrones!

Although, since I found MN I'm doing much more reading than watching telly nowadays! Grin

magentastardust · 07/10/2014 22:45

I loved Brothers and Sisters too-I miss it now it is gone!
