Gutted, we are all surprised at how much we hate Peter capaldi! Was so looking forward to this! Its pants!

I think he's going to be brilliant. Just wished he pushed annoying Clara Oswald out the Tardis too.

I liked it! I think he's going to be a good doctor, I never understand all the Clara hate either I think she's great!

Loved it. The plot came together in the end, a very sad revisitation of the robots and Madame Pompadour episode in the Tennant era which I thought was clever, plus hints of what lies ahead - let's face it, no way is that robot in Heaven, that lady is up to something! And some good bleakness too. Matt Smith was allowed to caper around being funny far too much, I like the grown-up darker Doctor Who.

DD hates him. Gave up after 5 minutes. I remember she had already said she didn't like him when seeing him previously.

DS1 - didn't think it was that good.

DS2 - bit scary.

I also wonder if he wasnt in much of the episode as it clashed with Musketeers filming.

It's the character Clara that annoys me btw, rather than the performance iykwim?

Now, I loved David Tennant and I could see it working with Matt Smith. I'm going to have to give it another week or two to really make up my mind.

I liked it. I think Peter Capaldi has a presence that Matt Smith doesn't. I liked the glimpse to camera. He conveys sinister beautifully.

And WHAT was going on at the end?

I thought he was brilliant! Loved the balance between madness and vulnerability and even though I anticipated that the chemistry between him and Clara would be rubbish I thought the scene in the restaurant was great. We can't wait till next week - Daleks

I'd like to see what PC can do with a decent script before I make judgement.

Heaven looked a bit damp to me.

I was dreading it, but Peter Capaldi started to grow on me after a while.
I think he'll be good.

Jenna is leaving the show. I'm disappointed. I think so much more could have been done with her and for her, but the writing has let her down.

The only thing that didn't sit well with me was Clara's upset and bewilderment over the regeneration. She has been back through the Doctor's timeline to save him over and over, so she has seen his different incarnations.

I thoroughly enjoyed that, and had forgotten all about Matt Smith within 5 minutes (and I thought he was a fab Doctor).

Peter Capaldi was brilliant - I think he's going to be dark and vulnerable. Will be sad to see the back of Clara, I thought she was a huge improvement on Amy Pond.

Looking forward to next week.

I agree the new title sequence is rubbish. looks like something a media studies student made.

I loved it - first time in ages I've sat down and watched an episode all the way through - and thought Peter Capaldi was great. He plays a very different Doctor from the last 2 mad gurners - I think it's just going to take a while to adjust to a different pace of acting, but he's a fantastic actor and will make the part his own.

Still can't decide about Clara - but none have been 'right' since Rose.

I thought it and CP was a grower. Very meh to begin with but by the coat stealing scene in the alley I was really enjoying it.

Lots of little touches of humour and I love his outfit I may have even filled up a bit when Matt Smith showed up.
